I’m also reminding myself that some people are struggling with being ill or loved ones being seriously ill and that there’s more important things in the world than makeup. Love the video ❤️
Such a good tip to take the money you were gonna spend on impulse shopping and put it into your savings account instead! I never thought about that but I'll definitely try it out
I swear doing a big project pan with a lot of products is the best radical thing i did ! It helped me so much to cut my makeup spending also shop my stash and project use (use something a number of times ) helped so much ! A big thank you to the project panning community its the most peaceful part of the beauty community 💚
I did just what you said, dupe "x" palette with eyeshadows I already own, and it was really fun going through allll my palettes and swatching them and reminding myself why I loved them in the first place to quell my desire for something new and exciting when I have something better at home
I love your tip of taking the money that would have gone on stress spending and putting it in a savings account instead - it’s building a future and such a positive thing to do.
Agree! I've been doing that too. What I'm also doing is taking out some money from my paycheck straight into my savings. 100 or 200 bucks might now sound much, but it really adds up especially if you don't check it very often.
I have been doing small projects around the house that I have been meaning to get to but never seem to have the time for. Things such as touching up some spots of paint on trim that got scraped off, fixing some broken jewelry, helping my son clean out a cabinet in his room, dusting some neglected shelving, and I would like to learn how to sew a simple zippered pouch. Oh! And Animal Crossing for the Switch came out so I have been playing that. I am a musician as well so I have been practicing everyday.
This is so so so timely for me, thank you! I am 100% anxiety shopping lately. Reorganizing everything today just to be away from the temptation to “browse” for distraction’s sake.
I like to maintain a makeup inventory on Pinterest so if I wanna shop I can just "shop my stash" there. Plus it helps me see just how many of a category I have.
I started a project pan and shopping my stash this year because I have so much stuff that NEEDS to be used up and moved out of my collection soon. I also put things in my Ulta cart that I’m tempted to buy, but then move them to the “Save For Later” section of checkout on the app and only buy the things I know I NEED to restock. It’s been really helpful for me to do all of those things right now and will continue to do this even after quarantine is completely over.
Really great video. I am definitely getting an itch to spend. I'm not going to but I'm making a wishlist of things to buy later, that's helped me a little. I'll also probably fill a cart for fun, I did that last week on Shop Miss A. Thank you for posting. Also you're makeup looks so pretty.
This will be easier for me since I'm on a no-spend year. But if I do but something I don't need I take that amount and put it in my savings account. I guess it's kind of punishment, if that makes sense...I recently got an email from Victoria secret saying that no only the stores are closed but also for online. But this is a good time to shop my stash at home! 😁. I even thought about walking my 🐕 but stay away from people...great video and stay safe!!
These are great tips Sarah! I shop my stash using a random number generator so I never know what I'm going to get to play with. Its super fun because I'm forced to pair things I would never think to put together and make it work. I also use tip # 2 when I draw a palette with a strange color story or one that I tend to do the same looks over with. It helps older videos get views and I get inspired. I appreciate the content lately Sarah. Thanks.
These are some great tips! Especially right now with so much uncertainty!!! I think walking away before making the purchase and then coming back , is a really good idea!😊
I had $600 in an envelope and I failed by spending a lot.. I only have $200 some left now. I wish I saw this video sooner. Transfer the amount of money for the products you were bout to buy to savings account or to pay off debt- that is a good advice!
I'm too nervous to be shopping for makeup and beauty products right now.. I've just been watching RU-vid and TV.. distracting yourself with TV and books really helps..
I totally agree with you . I spend a day thinking about what I want to buy. If I still want it I might but it. I buy out of boredom or wanting to make me feel better and end off having too much in my collection. Makeup is a feel good for me. It’s like an addiction like a drug..
Girl, this came just in time. Well, almost...the other day I ordered the MilanixSaltnPepa Shoop lip kit 😭😭😭I do like it, but you’re right, it came today and now I’m like”meh, okay.” I do like it but the excitement of buying something new passes quickly.
In fact, now that I spend so much time at home I can spend a lot of time thinking about if I REALLY need the items I am interested in... So I imagine me wearing it everyday and see if I feel that is realistic for me. I „visit“ my cart everyday, look at all the items and think about if I really need or want it. With most things, I realise I don‘t or can put it on my wishlist. Then I ask myself: is it worth it to order it now and to force the delivery driver to meet one more person and to have an unnecessary contact with another person? Plus, I think in a crisis like this, makeup isn’t really that important.. I wear it way less, feel better in my skin and just apply the minimum amount which is such a treat for my skin as well as my mind, as I am more comfortable without... Never saved so much money 😉 Loved this video idea btw and your makeup look!! ❤️
That is a great outlook to have! I agree, I have been really trying to avoid placing any orders that aren't absolutely necessary because I know this time must be very hard on the delivery workers.
I do tip #3 a lot. Sometimes I just need to shop without actually buying anything. I did place an order for clothing (spring refresh), but I haven't bought any makeup or skincare yet.
The problem is I add stuff to my cart and want/ need to order. I buy too much I know but it's like I can't stop myself. It's just so very hard to not buy makeup and clothes. I spent over half my budget for the month in just these last few days in isolation. I'll try your tips.
Colourpop just closed and stopped fulfilling any orders so guess we won't be shopping there :/ Sad because I had purchased a gift for a friend. Has me wondering if other retailers will start to close their online presence as well. Stay safe everybody
I can definitely see more retailers starting to do that.. in a way it's good for our wallets but it does worry me when I think about how the economy is going to suffer, especially for small businesses :(
Maybe this is an example of negative reinforcement, but I'm trying to remind myself of the things I purchased then regretted. I've ordered way too many things lately and there are several things I wish I would have left in the cart.
Take a moment now to delete credit card numbers from your accounts. You'll then have to get up and physically grab your card making it less convenient to impulse buy. You'd be surprised how often you'll say "nah, not worth getting my purse"
I think stimulating your local economy is really important, but not ordering online from Sephora and/or Ulta. Maybe supporting your favorite indie brands though! If you are able though it is definitely important to support small businesses through this time.
