I feel like they can give people 5% deposit mortgages. But people will not buy because …. Well…. You’re getting a bigger loan at a 5-6% interest rate. That’s just insanely expensive. If you were to borrow 250k from the bank at 5.2-5.5%. You’re looking at what £1500-1600 a month ? Without bills. People can’t afford it, simple as. Banks will not give mortgages to people if they don’t belief that they can pay the mortgage.

If they want people to buy properties. Drop the interest rate under 3% Nobody wants to pay £1500-1700 a month on a 250-260k mortgage.
