Let me know your favorite tip, trick or hack for the Freestyle Libre!

Thanks...very helpful tips and tricks. My favorite is the one about how to get a Sensor Report Form. I was tired of having to call customer support.

I have been type 1 for 50 years now. Just put on my very first sensor! Really looking forward to not having to prick my poor fingers anymore! I like the hack about soaking a new sensor the 24 hours ahead of time.; Will try that if I remember, haha. Nice to know that you are a type 1 also so you what we are all dealing with. I have found in my 50 years of dealing with t1d that many healthcare providers treat you like they know all about your issues when the are not diabetic at all and can't possibly understand all the ins and outs of taking care of diabetes 24/7. Looking forward to finding more of you videos.

Thank you so much, Scott! I'm only a minute into your video here and you've provided the answer I was seeking. This is my first time wearing any CGM and I've only been wearing my FL3 for about 17 hrs. Last night, 1.5 hrs after going to bed, I was woken by the app "low glucose" alarm which I knew immediately was false, but took a manual reading at that time with a strip reader just to be sure, and wow, it was way off. The app never registered that low reading on the graph or 'time in ranges'. If other users are reporting inconsistencies, inaccuracies, false alarms in the first 24 hours, that gives me hope and I'll be patient and hang in there. I knew, prior to trying a CGM, that there could be inconsistencies between the CGM readings and my manual glucometer and I found that to be true yesterday, but I didn't know that the FL3 could be off during the first 24rs. This morning I noticed the two meters are now giving consistent results - I've taken 3 manual reading for compaison so far and they match the FL3, so I'll be patient and wait.

I'd recommend the bandage patches. I used to regularly knock of the sensor, being large and clumsy. Doesn't happen any more. They last about 12 days, but when they're off, the sensor is still stuck on hard because it's been protected all the time.

I recommend filling out an online complaint with the USA FDA every time Freestyle stops doing what it's suppose to do, either stay on your arm or just Quits Working and / or is way off in reading. Either spend money to fix it or spend money on the federal government on your lawyers. We're already paying too much in the USA for this on ssdi out of pocket. THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO 30 DAYS IN ONE DEVICE. There is one smaller than a maggot 1/8 inch diameter 1 inch long. THAT LAST ONE YEAR.

The last 9 out of'10 sensors make it about 5-6 days then the accuracy goes downhill bad until it basically says I'm dead the good thing is if i get lucky and one does last 14 days it is almost impossible to get it off.

Even though my glucose changes throughout the day, the arrow next to the reading is always horizontal, never indicating glucose is rising all falling. Is this indicate a bad sensor?
@diabetesdailydigest
@diabetesdailydigest Год назад
So a horizontal line still indicates a change in glucose levels, just a slow gradual one (Less than 0.06 mmol/L (1 mg/dL) per minute). Slow changes are normally a good sign that youre keeping your glucose levels fairly well controlled so you must be doing something right!

Just got my first L2. RE: the "soaking" method, since this is my first one, is it possible to have it on 24 hours before scanning and activating it, so I have reliable numbers from the start or is soaking only when going from one CGM to a new one? Thanks!
@davidadams8546
@davidadams8546 Месяц назад
You can place the new sensor ahead (24-48 hrs) of finishing the current one as long as you don't activate it until ready.

If I pre-apply the libre3 24hrs ahead, do I still get 14 days when I activate it, or does it drop to 13 because of the pre-application?
@diabetesdailydigest
@diabetesdailydigest Год назад
No, you apply the warm up sensor 24 hours prior to the other sensors expiration so you don’t wind up losing any time. Just make sure not to start the other sensor until the other one expires.

is there a way to calibrate the Libre? When I did a trial run, I did not see that option. If they want to pair this with a pump in the future, that would be a necessity I would think as the pump would be getting inaccurate data. thoughts?
@diabetesdailydigest
@diabetesdailydigest Год назад
Unfortunately there is no way to calibrate the current Libre sensors as they come factory calibrated. Even the new Libre 3 has no way to calibrate. Dissapointing as both the Dexcom G6 and G7 allow for calibration which I feel is an essential feature.
@ChrisStrahan
@ChrisStrahan Год назад
@@diabetesdailydigest I thought not (I did a trial of it) and that is a HUGE game changer. If it is off, then your pump is delivering incorrect basil rates. NOW, if it is close to Dexcom, that happens about 1 in 4 sensors. That can't happen. If you are in tight control, you need that cgm to be dead on. I appreciate your channel and look forward to more content!

My husband sent me the freestyle libre link up app. Something we have found to be very curious is that on my linkup app I can move the white bar on the graph along the graph line and it tells me the exact reading and time data for that period, but... the freestyle libre app that my husband has does not give a line that you can move around to get more precise readings about the graph data. Have you found that to be true also?
@PinkOwl31
@PinkOwl31 10 месяцев назад
Thanks for sharing this. I was wondering why I couldn't scrub on the graph to see my previous blood sugar readings. I downloaded the link app and shared the readings with myself. Weird that they don't allow the actual user more/most detailed information about... Themselves. 😑

@diabetesdailydigest
@diabetesdailydigest Год назад
If you’re using the reader you can shut off all alarms, if you’re using the phone you can shut off all alarms except the urgent low glucose alarm. The first 24 hours are always a bit unreliable and you many have more variations in glucose levels leading to more alarms.

I'm a type 2 insulin user. I seem to be having a problem with my Libre 2 cgm . I started using them in June. In all this time. I have only had 3 sensors last the full 14 days. 2 if them failed within 24 hrs. The others lasted anywhere from 7 to ten days. A number if them started giving me ultra low readings. I have received replacements. But I can't seem to be able to contact someone about this problem. Is there a possibility that the libre 2 may be incompatible with my body chemistry. This is quite frustrating. Many of the results are a 40 point difference. I have had numerous low arms during the night. And some during the day. Any suggestions by you or your readers would be appreciated.
@TheBinarydeity

Two things that might help, first, make sure you drink plenty of water and keep your fluids up. Second stay away from high doses of vitamin C, as this may make the meter read incorrectly.

Same with my father in law. Last two sensors have been showing 40-60 units off from the finger prick readings. For days, and there is no way to calibrate it.
@carolynf34
@carolynf34 9 месяцев назад
I just recently got my sensor. And it doesn’t work. It’s off anywhere from 15 points to 60 points. It always says my glucose levels are lower than they actually are. It’s too expensive to not have accurate results. Even with my insurance it’s going to cost me $40 for one sensor. That’s crazy. So unfortunately I am going to have to stick with the old fashioned finger pricking method.
@carolynf34
@carolynf34 8 месяцев назад
I’m adding an update to my comment above. I have to say I don’t mind picking my finger at all. And I like that my numbers are accurate. It really is not that big of a deal. I don’t know how I will feel years from now. But right now it’s no biggie.
