In my city Tampa Bay. The sheriff's department had put a craigslist meeting area. CCTV Installed. And more Also, Craigslist has safety tips One of them is Don't share/let people see your address
I know, right?! Over the last 20 years I've bought AND sold hundreds of items on Craigslist. Never, NOT ONCE, did I have a sketchy encounter. Because I did them right.
As women we always blame ourselves for the creepy feelings we’re getting off of people because we’re taught to be lady like and polite. 🛑 STOP BEING NICE If someone scares you get the hell away from them, leave, be rude… Do whatever it takes to keep yourself safe and alive.
Story 1: Man that is terrifying. -Never meet at people's home UNLESS you have someone with you -Never let others in your home unless you have a weapon and a safe place in your home with a lock on the door. Having someone there is a plus -Always meet in a public spot in the early afternoon AFTERNOON -ALWAYS trust your gut -
Story 1: this is why you meet in a public space in broad day light and always carry weapons! Like pepper spray. Story 2: no always have other people with you when you live alone. Especially if a guy is giving you the creeps! ALWAYS KEEP DOORS AND WINDOWS LOCKED!!!! Last story: RED FLAGS!!! Always pay attention to red flags. you have horrible parents!!!!
I told my daughter, before she went out in the big wide world in her own : We have more than 5 senses. Use them wisely. Don't let others talk you out of your feelings don't rationalize them. If you are engaged with a person or in a place or in a business transaction and it feels wrong generally it is wrong. Immediately leave the presence of that person, do not go into that area, or discontinue the business transaction. So far she's done very well for herself and stayed safe in Boston. Basically trust your instincts nature has let our minds and senses retain that Primal instinct don't disregard it ever.
Why did the dummy stay put while the garage was closing? They don't close fast and if a person sticks their foot under it before it closes the censor will re-open the garage. Did he just stand there like an idiot? 😅
That happened to me once and I just kept doing right turns but I live in an area where the housing tract is in a square shape so just kept passing my house and the car kept following me. So I just drove to the sheriff station and the car left once it saw where I was going.
Better yet, if you have someone you don't like, you drive to their house. Wait till the person following you leaves and then go home. When they come back later that night they will attack your enemy and give them the nightmares
Yes, driving right to the nearest police/fire station, if any, is always the best idea. Hospitals or even a brightly lit gas station that’s open is good too.
Yeah I don't know how many of these stories that I hear people saying uneasy feeling or I got a negative vibe about the guy I thought someone was following me then they just go home or something. It's like you want to be robbed or attacked? People really need to pay more attention to the feeling somebody smarter because a lot of these cases could be avoided by simply driving the local police station or if you're not near one drive to an airport and find security because the life you might just save as your own. I'm also going with why don't people carry pepper spray or stun gun but instead they carry a knife which takes a lot more accuracy and forced to stop for specimen down whereas one-touch even from a compact stun gun will slow someone down so leave the knife at home and carry either a full-size stun gun a compact one or even a a 211 flashlight stun gun
@@cwaltzmusic Agreed! Driving to the police station is what I did. I also was watching a sheriff talk about ways to protect yourself and she said that if you don't have access to pepper spray you can use wasp spray and it can be even more effective in the eyes. But yeah there are so many of these stories where the people don't tell anyone or don't request help or even go to a well lit public area. Are people THAT dumb or are some of these stories fiction? Because in most cases if they did get help immediately there would be no more suspenseful story to tell. (Like when characters in horror movies do stupid things because if not the movie would be over.) So that is a little sus sometimes.
Story 2 is similar to my experience. A few months ago, I put an ad on CL for a new kitchen sink installer need. I talked to a few people, but this guy from next town accept the job within my budget. I didn't think much about anything because I scheduled him to come at 8:30 am on my day off and my brother-in-law was still sleeping up stair until 11am before he go to work. The guy showed up hour late with another person which I understood he might need more people for the project and I led him to the kitchen. Showed him the new sink and how I like it to be done. They didn't look like they were ready to work at all. I thought maybe they will go back to their car and change or grab their equipment after. The guy I talked to kept telling me they cannot do it or will risk damage my old countertop because they will have to cut or resize the hole to fit my new and larger sink. Then someone rang the door bell outside. The guy told me they were his other two men who worked for a nearby project and they just stopped by to pick up something. I wasn't happy to hear that. I went to the door and opened it and two another big men came in. I am a lean small Asian guy in 5'6 tall. As they all strolled in my kitchen with 4 big and strong men in their mid 20s to early 30s, I walked up stair to knocked on my brother-in-law's bedroom door and called him out in a loud noise so that they all can hear me that I was not home alone. I told my BIL in my language that they are 4 men in my house to install the kitchen sink and I felt unsafe. Then I spoke loud in English for him to call his police brother over. Me and my BIL made couple words exchanged so that those guy in the kitchen can hear me. So they all knew I was not alone. Then I went down to the kitchen and the two guys who just came said they need to go back to work. Then the guy whom I had contact with kept saying he cannot perform the job. Then I led them to the door. My BIL had joined me at this time in the livingroom. We sent them off and saw they had a little white Pontiac, not even a working car. I felt released and found a new contractor for $200 more cheaper and he finished my kitchen sink beautifully.
I rarely use Craigslist but I bought a lawnmower recently and all I could think of was all these stories on the different scary story channels. I street viewed the house and saw was in a decent neighborhood and told my mom the address just in case (went right from work so had nobody with me). Luckily nothing shady happened and the guy had it right on his porch ready to go and even turned it on for me to show it worked. I def wouldn't have gone into house/garage for it. Have to sell a few things myself on there soon and planning to meet in public for everything. Also going to need a roommate but using roommate specific sites (after I post on social media for friends of friends looking etc) over Craigslist
I have purchased and sold some items in the past as well. Things went well as planned. Met during the day. Have item in the garage or drive way be transferred. Had people with you when go to to someone's house or have people with you when you expect someone over.
I really appreciate that you pronounce STR the way we learned in school. A LOT of younger people say it like sHtr and it always take my Focus off what I’m listening to.
The electric door has a rope hanging down, if your ever in a garage, and the electric door won’t open by pulling at the bottom grab the rope snd it disengages the electric door then you can pull the door up. I learned thst by my electric garage door broke.
I’ve noticed more than one person recently on these story channels say I text the person but they had blocked my number. You cannot tell if someone has blocked your number. If up until then you’ve been texting back and forth, if they do block you all of a sudden, you’ll just think you’re getting no response. There’s no notice or anything that would tell you your number was blocked. Also if you’ve called them and then they block you, it will still ring to you, you will not know they’ve blocked you. And yes, that’s every cell phone provider as of now, none of them let you know.
Could have been using an app, many of them, like Facebook, say the person blocked up. It's also a safe bet that if you're texting back and forth, then all the sudden nothing, they probably blocked you.
Not sure what provider y'all have but I'm with Tmobile and I've tested the being blocked and if I block you and you call it goes straight to voice-mail BUT if you text me it actually does send you a text saying your number has been blocked 🚫
Not true, my late husband and I, furnished our historic home with Craigs List Free , with beautiful furniture from the 1940s period the house was built in. Wish I could send you lovely pictures..
I'm positive about the text notifying you because I had to block an ex and he sent me a screen shot from another phone showing the message saying he was blocked and asked me why...so it really is provider specific.
The first story, sounds like the writer killer, he posted things to draw people to the garage and then kil who ever entered and then write about it and turn it into a movie script
No it was different. He didn't break into someone's house. And the guy that escaped was actually chased and they ran into a couple in an alley way. Nothing similar except a garage. Plus he met men on dating sites and not craigslist.
1st story is urban myth, I'm afraid. There are stories all around Europe and the UK that are exactly the same, story as been going around at least 40 years( obviously not Craigslist). Think a real one did happen in America a couple of years ago about a novice film director who got the idea from the urban myth.
I hate Craig’s list ! My DIL got a job off of a Craig’s list. Young guys with a construction company. She was to do bookkeeping for them. She got to working and in two months they wanted her to cheat on their book work. She wouldn’t do it so they got mad at her cause she wouldn’t. She said she knew they would blame her cause she was Messing with money and she said they’d blame her. They wanted her to give them cash out of their bank acct and not show it on their books. She wasn’t a dumb girl. And she said if she got the cash they’d say she stole it. She left.
Your dad is down son! Fuck yeah! I carry a xd-s Mod2 45 caliber on me 24/7. For the house I got the 12 gauge with special slug rounds for a twisted fuck!
first story im like 'call the cops! call the damned cops your phone is working in there call the cops you have the address call the cops! what is wrong with that guy?
Electric garage doors don't shut fast and all a person has to do is stick their foot under it before it closes and the censor will reopen it. What was the idiot doing while it was closing till the point it was pitch dark? 🤔
I agree. Why didn't he just ran back outside or the garage door will open anyway and wait outside. It was already a wrong time and wrong plan when he went alone at almost dark. Silly
@@travelwithnou I agree. If the story says "true" im expecting it to be true. But I'm a naive Gen-Xer on RU-vid who's still learning half these video titles are lies 😁
