Over the last year, I've slowly changed the way I edit in Lightroom and realised this overall change just last week during the first Hamburg City Break. After speaking with other photographers during the workshop, I wanted to make this video focusing on 5 techniques I use that weren't as known by the others.
02:15 - Colour Calibration
04:34 - Point Colour Tool
07:10 - Linear Gradients and Masking
10:15 - The Transform Tool
13:08 - AUTO Button
What else do you think could be added to this list? What are some of your underrated Lightroom techniques in 2024? I'm interested to see the comments below as I know a lot of you are already accomplished editors in your own right.

Very useful tutorial. I haven't used much the colour calibration and colour mixer so I'll try these techniques out on some photos.

Very interesting and helpful video. Almost makes up for those mushy water and sky scenics.😀

Always an absolute PRIVILEGE to watch your videos Greg. Honest, Informative, Entertaining, and Valuable content as usual mate. I haven't been watching much RU-vid for a while but I'm super stoked to see more of your work and images. Subscribed.

I love the calibration tool. By right clicking the section titles you can select Customize Develop Panel and rearrange the sections by dragging them. I made Calibration the second after Lens Corrections, then Transform, only then the Basic section. Also, have fun in Bolivia!

Yes good point. I’ve done that as well to organise them as I roll down the right side. Good tip.

Smashing set of tips, I am a huge fan of the auto button for the exact same reason, such a good jumping off point to an edit!! 👍 Cheers

Great stuff Greg. Easy to understand tips, esp. the point colour tool, something I've not used but will do from now on 👍

Dave!! Glad to hear it mate. Indeed sometimes all that’s needed is just another perspective to change the way you see your own edits. I love meeting other photographers for this reason.

Thanks, Greg. It's always helpful to hear what "the pros" are doing with post-processing. Hope Bolivia's a blast!

These are all great tips - thanks for sharing! I'll need to try the transform one for sure when I need to straighten out the horizon. There have been times when it has been a challenge to determine if the horizon is flat enough.

Yes I agree. I’m always wondering why it still seems a bit off 😅 That transform trick helps a lot.

Always good to learn something new. Great advice to just try the Auto and if you dont like it, dont use it, but most times it makes a good starting point.

I'm with you on the auto button. It's a great start to editing an image. Not used the colour calibration though, will be looking at that. Thanks.

It’s powerful. Give it a go when you’re not happy with the tint or white balance.

"Poor mans Pano" .... I love it 👍😂 Great editing tips. Never used tip 1, Color Calibration (Canon colors are perfect 😂lol) but have used the point color picker for personal preference. Also never used the guided Transform tool in tip 4. Have a great time in Bolivia👍😎

Only tip I have for working in Lightroom, is "open it up in Photoshop" 😂. I haven't really kept abreast of the Lightroom updates the last few years but any tool that can be put to good use is still a good tool

When RU-vid adds videos to my playlists without my permission I will unlike them.
