Edu Ardanuy has a kind of bend that the string is pulled from out of the instrument neck. It's crazy: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qARB4PG56cU.html But be careful to not break the strings;)
Tom Morello is a big user of the "strum above the nut" technique. In combination with his Whammy pedal, the sound is ridiculously cool, and definitely an exclamation mark on his riffs.
Erik Feldmann Because they didn’t invent the technique. Megadeth, and various black metal bands all used it before them. They put it to good use though.
@@RyanChaos.0 Yeah I'd not debate that, I was just under the impression that Gojira was kind of famous for implementing that technique. Leo from Frog Leap Studios even titles this technique the Gojira Guitar Slide in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MiMhOqkNu1w.html
I know i was totally expecting that too. Wanted to hear the crazy stuff that went with this video. Guy always cracks me up. Wonder how much time he spent learning all of them....lol
honest question...why are you not in a very popular band... with all this knowledge and talent i feel like you are one of the better guitarists in the world.
Dude, he's living a better dream now, than being in a band. Maybe being in a band, when rock still ruled the world, but now... It could suck compared to what he gets do. He doesn't have to share stage, he gets complete creative control...
I worked at Music Villa last year, so that's pretty cool to see you're doing a clinic up there. Wish I could be there, but ill be doing shows with my band in Cali at that time. I'm not sure whether to complain that I'm gonna miss it, or be happy cause I'm playing with my band. Anyways, have a great time Tyler!
Clicked on the video cause it reminded me of this jam John frusciante did that my dad saw and always showed me the video (since it wasn’t very big at the time he was proud he got to see them)
On the last one it aslo helps to not have the trem springs in the back muted. Those springs greatly assist in the creation of that sound. I used to use a broken whammy bar on my acoustic guitar to emulate a sort of "Tom Morello DJ unplugged" effect. That and as a slide.
Awesome guitar collection! My girlfriend said “buy one more guitar and I’m leaving” don’t even miss her! I wish you would go over each guitar with likes, dislikes and purposes. Thanks
Screw this new society. What makes women think that they are entitled to how we spend our money? Buy your guitars buy the stuff you want live your life. I wouldn't miss her either.
Hey not sure if you going to see this cause it’s an older video but I’m 17 y/o and I can’t get enough of the sound of guitar, so much so that I’m very motivated and driven to learn and master the art. Only problem I have is that my funds situation won’t at least at this point allowed me to get a guitar. Any tips or even person help on what I should do, it would change my world.
Just play man and surround yourself with other musicians even if you suck jam that’s how you learn! If ur highschool has a jazz band or just a normal band join it and learn. Trust me you will have so much fun! I wish you the best!
Alter Bridge has a song where Mark and Myles pick the strings behind the nut. The song is Ties That Band and it's at the end of main riff right before the verse starts.
Dude, that is so uncanny that I woke up to this video today. Just last night, I learnt an old Skid Row solo (I remember you) with this technique in it...(the first one in your video - the right hand mute behind the fretting hand) But it was the one thing I couldn't really work out. I thought, "was he planting a tap??" ...and then, "it just doesn't seem neccesary..." And now, first thing this morning, my stream throws up your explanation. Perfect. Just this though... I don't think I have enough gain dialled in to really need it. Should I still do it?
For the behind the nut pick scrape, you don't need a noise gate. You just need to keep your hands off the fretboard. If they're mute like that, they won't ring with the dirt tone of your amp.
My fav technique (i called it the "george lynch/warren demartini vibrato..) you basically move you finger at fast speed over..what 3 or 4 fret to make a sort of violin type vibrato Usually breaks people minds :)
Haha that one at 6:20 reminds me of rehearsal with a band I used to play in. Every once in a while the drummer enjoyed to annoy our bass player who was standing close (that rehearsal space was tiny) by slapping his strings with a stick as part of a fill. :D We even thought about making that into a live gag but we didn't acutally do it.
No Adam Jones pull-thru technique like on Jambi or Hooker? I'm quite sad as I think the only other guitarist I've seen do it is Devin Townsend and it sounds awesome.
