I am obsessed w/ basil. I have basil plants on my nightstand because I just love the way they smell. It's really good for watermelon juice infusions. Lately, I've been adding fresh basil to my salads. It's simply divine.
I just recently bought basil to make a caprese salad. I had to go to 3 different stores to find it because everyone is always out! The third store I found it at only had a huge portion to buy, but I was tired of driving around in 105 degree heat so I bought the big batch. Now I’m trying to find ways to use it up, and I JUST ate a tuna fish sandwich before seeing your comment. DAMNIT!! Missed opportunity lol
@@teeeff8337 I’m on a herb thing just now, but basil is one that won’t do well outside in these parts(yet!). Bought a pot basil from the supermarket and divvied it out into nine pots. Now I have at least three large plants in each pot, takes up the whole windowsill! Still haven’t used any, hence checking these channels, think I’ll have to make a huge batch of pesto and freeze it. Funny thing is, I have virtually no sense of smell which means herbs are largely wasted on me, but I just like the idea 🤣.
What do you like to do with Fresh Cut Basil? And here is How to Grow Basil from a Cutting ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Rg1336sO4Uc.html
Bruschetta /brusketa/ is made from grilled bread, on which you scratch a clove of garlic (the toasted bread acts as a grater). On top of that, you add olive oil and (often but not always) tomatos, mozzarella and basil. Fresh.
I chop Basil leaves and Olive oil very fine, put that in ice cube trays and freeze. Store the cubes in container and use cubes for whatever you need Basil.
Jag: First thank you very very much for your videos. I am aware that you spend much time creating these videos, adding extensive notes below and posting. They"re excellent. May I, very humbly, ask you to include a list of ingredients, in the order they are placed in the food processor, in the "show more" section below the video.? Thank You. Zamir
I tried the olive oil infused basil, but it looked like you used 1 cup olive oil, in the video it said 1/4 cup and it didn't mix! I had to watch it a few times to compare measuring cups :D. Great video! thanks for sharing!
I just started some herbs, and now I've got the Little Shop of Horrors taking over my kitchen, and that's a good thing. ;-) Finally, a use for the basils! :-)
Lots of Basil on a cheese omelette, featured on Pizza Margherita, I freeze it by washing then stuffing in a vacuum sealer bag squeezing it pretty tight. I use the frozen Basil for pesto in the winter. I don't bother with thawing it out just toss it in the food processor. I also use frozen basil on Pizza Margherita.
Awesome! Thank you for the recipes! Now....I know what to do with all my fresh basil, as I am a gourmet cook, and use fresh basil & tomatoes, Feta Cheese, marinated beef, Capers, Olive Oil in my Greek Omelet, for any time day or night!
Last year I really could have used these recipes. 😂 I had basil coming out of my ears.(not literally. Haha!) 5 different types! 😳🤪 I didn't plant but 2 this year and only 1 was intentional, the second one was from seeds that fell in the planter. We're in the process of moving, so next year I will be able to plant an herbal garden.
Curious about the blending - I’ve heard that blending olive oil too long can cause your product becoming bigger. Anyone have experience with this? Also, how long is the infused olive oil shelf life if refrigerated?
What do you use the basil olive oil on? Can it be used as cooking oil the same or do you use it in other ways? I can’t think of anything. I’m about to be swimming in basil so I need as many uses as possible
That is "India pesto"! In italian recipe there is not tomato ... only pesto, olive oil, garlic , pecorino and parmisan cheese, and pine nuts ( salt as to be added before to use the pesto , otherwise the pesto became blackish ).
Very good -- all five with one ingredient exception --- for the chutney. Leave OUT the chilies. Sorry, but as *base* for things like that, hot chilies are not my taste. If you want to burn your mouth and tongue out, then have them "on the side." I really liked the idea for the oil.
I just heard that if basil gets stress(ie: not enough water ) the flavour won’t be the same. This happened to one of my plants. Hope this helps. Blessings.
