My wife refuses and is in denial though it runs in her family. So frustrating 19 years and she has just detached into isolation. How do you help someone who refuses it? The mood swings & forgetfulness just seems overwhelming to the point of confusion at times. I love her so dearly and I vowed to be here for better or worse. I pray everyday.
I am so sorry for your pain and your wife’s situation. It’s very difficult to help someone who doesn’t want your help. The first step is to make sure you are caring for yourself. I would definitely encourage counseling.

Thank you soooo much!!! I have a son with ADHD, one with Autism, and a husband who has been diagnosed with manic depression and who is at long last getting tested soon for ADHD as well. I am the over-functioner you describe, and right now I am totally, totally overwhelmed. The sole breadwinner, I seem to be the only person I this house who really ever thinks ahead. All three of them have executive processing issues. If I didn’t think to save for retirement, have anyone visit he dentist, put in laundry or talk about the birds and the bees, these things would never or very rarely happen. It’s so scary; I worry that if anything happens to my mind, we’re all in big trouble. I truly feel feel safe, the older they all get and the older I get. I’ve been burning the candle at both ends so long, I think I am losing it. Where can I find support? Drowning in responsibility over here. Again, thank you for posting this.
My husband has mental illness and trust me everything you said is true. We've been married for five years and nothing has changed things seems to be getting worse and the worst part about it is that he does not want to get help. I feel as if I am backed into a corner in my marriage. His family knows of his situation and none of them would help me encourage him to get help. Teshana, you and I are in very similar circumstances. Unfortunately, when my husband sought help, he then ended our marriage after I was so patient for 15yrs. My advise to you - go live your life. You only have one shot at life.
I’m new to your channel/videos. Very thankful for you sharing your journey and advice. I’m in a difficult marriage where we both have a lot going on. Spouse has DID (dissociative identity disorder)/ADHD/insomnia…and I am very sensitive/empathetic/people pleaser/highly introverted type…..so like you’ve mentioned we struggle connecting in a lot of areas but are trying hard to understand each other. I was in a support group for those with family members with mental illness. COVID19 has eliminated group meetings and now I am very alone. It has been a very bad year due to my wife's condition.
married 4 years and I don't know if I can help her. She does therapy but idk if it is working or her therapist is just giving her validation rather than digging deep into her psyche. If I ever try to set boundaries and show her that her reactions do affect me it just makes her worse and just like that it becomes about her again.. I feel like I'm in an endless cycle of fixing something that can't be fixed or maybe I'm just as big of a problem with my aspergers. It has been a nonstop battle and when I think things are finally looking up, something happens and we are always back to square one.
Ive been married for a year. My wife had symptoms of something neurological early on but I didnt seriously consider it to be an issue. It is to the point now that there is not much meaningful communication, when it was already limited for much of our time together. It gets lonely, and i can try to understand how lonely she feels. Its hard to take care of my needs when I know it means leaving her to take care of herself. Its hard, but we'll figure something out.
My husband has an early onset neurological dementia disease which makes him extremely rapid cycling bipolar on a daily basis. The only thing that he can handle talking about is God and the Bible and has become extremely fanatical about Christianity. I love Jesus with all my heart but my husband‘s fanaticism has almost pushed me farther away from my daily walk -than brought me closer. He’s often easily irritated and angry and can’t handle having conversations about the least little “secular” thing without getting overwhelmed and agitated. We’ve been married 18 years and he’s a completely different person now despite the medications he’s taking. Yes, they help a little with mood stabilization but he’s always depressed and suicidal. I’m normally a very happy person and experiencing depression for the first time in my life because of this. I also have an autoimmune disease that causes constant chronic pain, so between him and my own issues and being his only caregiver, some days I feel like I’m just going to lose my mind. I feel mentally and emotionally exhausted, totally isolated like you talked about and I feel like I’ve completely lost my identity. I miss the man I married more than I could put into words. We’ve been going through this for several years now and the only reason that I’m still here is because of my deep love for him and how incredible our marriage used to be. This ultimately is a terminal illness for him, but it could potentially go on for years and with the loss of our future and really no cure, I’m really struggling to cope through this. Are there any videos in your channel that you would suggest I watch? Or any audiobooks you think would be of benefit? My biggest need is just not losing myself in this whole process and finding a way to avoid my anxiety about the future.
@Sea of Dreams I am sorry for the delay in response. This is such a heartbreaking situation and shows that there are no pat answers to mental health issues. I am not an expert in this area of dementia that can cause rapid cycling BP. Have you connected to a counselor for yourself? I am going to reach out to some experts and I will get back to you. @@AngelaHowardMentalHealthTips thank you so much. I do have a Christian counselor, and she helps to validate a lot of the frustrations and the grief that I have. But I feel so helpless that I’m losing him and it’s just such a sad situation, especially when I’m already grieving being a new empty-nester mom and was looking forward to all the wonderful things my husband and I would be doing to distract me from that grief, and now I feel like it’s just loss upon loss. There’s really no answer. I just don’t know what I would do without Jesus. He’s my only hope. But some days I feel such a divide between us. I’m hurting so badly that it’s getting in the way of my intimacy with Him. I’m desperately trying to find some solid ground. 🙏
My wife was diagnosed with schizophrenia a few years back and did have an episode back then. Recently without any signs or warning at all, she packed up her car and disappeared in the middle of the night. She went to her family 800 miles away and after a month she is filing for divorce. Will not communicate with me whatsoever.

@@AngelaHowardMentalHealthTips yes she stopped taking it. We moved from USA to Canada in feb 2019 and found that Canada had a severe lack of mental health professionals. So no meds no therapy to speak of. My hope is that in Georgia she will connect with a psychiatrist again and get taken care of.

Why does everyone fail to address what happens when you become the target of your mentally ill spouse. When that spouse blames the other one for his mental health.
What families don't have a mutifaceting spectrum of MHDs? Or the real question is, what families actually address and work on themselves and their disorders both individually and as a family unit?

I love my wife to death but it’s gotten to the point where she just depends on me 24/7. I can’t be there for her like she wants me to. I have my own demons and we’re in a crappy situation, I have to work out of time occasionally while she’s home with a restless child and I’m trying to keep myself from not losing it let alone herself too. I just can’t do it anymore. It’s ruined or marriage and I just cannot cope or work around her issues no more. I feel resentment for her though I know she can’t control it. @Corey Ould I am sorry you are going through this sorrow in your marriage. The best thing that both my husband and I have done is seek professional help through doctors (first general practitioners and then a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner), as well as personal and marriage counseling. It is definitely worth the effort. We have also found so much support in our connection with God and church community. I love the verse that says “God is our refuge and strength, our ever present help in time of trouble.” We are not alone in times of struggle!

A loss of trust. Having been on a roller coaster with my husband for the past 15yrs, the damage caused CONSTANT chaos and upheaval. It helped fracture our blended family further. The mental illness lead to pain and distrust. The marriage did not survive. When my husband sought help, the marriage no longer existed. People, learn to pay attention, you can’t always fix or hang on to what is broken.
@@rosarioalston4986 you are writing what i am feeling. Try having a partner damaged by ECT loss of self. Its worrying frightening and exhausting. We feel guilt and not able to fix things feels like a fail for sure. I hope you have managed to grieve and move on. Mental illness needs so much more support .

Bo życie jest nie doskonale, takie zostanie, nikt nie ma fajnie i z górki, każdy ma z czymś problem, nikt nie ma doskonale. Czyli kobieta enty razy może się rozwodzić i rozwodzić... Nawet w nieskończoność... To taka psychiatria, problemy człowieka. Ludzie muszą z kimś być a później już tego kogoś nie chcą bo też był zły, następny też będzie najlepszy na świecie a później stwierdzi że pozniej nie idealny. Ludzie wstępnie są szczęśliwi aby później mieć głębokie rozczarowanie. Relację kobiety i mężczyzny to jest coś fajnie, aby później na pewno odczuć silny ból i rozczarowanie. I dzieci na tym cierpią. also in this that thing luckily he has got passed out his that these 10th and 12th in which both class he has has passed out with somebody someones jack and aaproach in that otherwise he was also used to get failed also here like that in past he in his that those 2 standard classes also my frnd though he has got chance to get eaisly some types of books and guides openly ooen up with him to for see
