I'm going through WGU for my Bachelors in Cybersecurity, which includes access to Udemy and tons of virtual labs with interactive ways of using these tools. I'm hoping these help me with those hands on experiences needed.

Awesome and thank you for sharing! I cannot stress enough that you shouldn't be relying 100% on any education provider to hands on experience. Did you learn about some topic? Great...lab it...break stuff...experiment. Experimenting beyond what you're taught and troubleshooting are what will make you different and standout from other candidates...not purely the amount of or type of courses that you use.

How is thr program. I'm thinking about getting a master's from WGU but I'm coming from a different field not IT.

whats the best site or program to use to run a homelab

There are many options depending on your needs. -Hosting on your computer, I always recommend VMware Workstation Pro because it tends to be the most stable. -Using a Cloud Service Provider (or site as you called it): ----Digital Ocean ( jongood.com/affiliates/digitalocean/ ) ----Linode ( jongood.com/affiliates/linode/ ) ----AWS ----Azure AWS and Azure are potentially the most expensive, but they offer the most features. Digital Ocean and Linode tend to be more affordable and more friendly to homelab users who just want some cloud capabilities.

Good Evening Jon I am a beginner with cybersecurity. I recently took a course with Georgia Tech called Cyber and Network Security Boot Camp in 2022 I passed the course with an A. The certificate they pushed for was security + I have used every resource for studying Professor Messer, CompTIA study guide, Dion, and others. I've taken the exam three times and my scores were just under 750. I don't know what else to do. Most jobs I apply for require security + what do I need to do to pass the exam?

The skills and certifications that I recommend are all included in my free eBook ( jongood.com/getstarted/ ) that I highly recommend reading through. As far as failing certification exams, I recommend watching the video I published about failing ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BbCi9W1aMRY.html ). This will give you a lot of information you need, but also, you need to make sure you don't just keep repeating the same mistakes, especially if you've failed three times without changing much.

Do you have a video on email Phishing, like using OSINT tools to analyze emails to know if it’s malicious or not? Or understanding what DKIM, SPF etc is?
@JonGoodCyber
@JonGoodCyber 6 месяцев назад
I do not because I haven't had a ton of interest in those topics but if I get enough interest, I can certainly add them to the list.

The thing I am concerned about with cybersecurity is the AI how long till AI takes over the role of cybersecurity I was reading an article that says by 2040 software engineers will be replaced by AI so I'm concerned if I should continue to get my degree or change my career path
@JonGoodCyber
@JonGoodCyber 6 месяцев назад
I wouldn't really be concerned about something that may or may not happen in 16 years from now and I definitely wouldn't believe everything that I read from whichever source created that article. Also, software engineering isn't the same profession and has its own unique challenges and requirements.

@JonGoodCyber
@JonGoodCyber 6 месяцев назад
I have a lot of videos on this channel talking about the CISSP, but in short, no it's not meant for beginners. I recommend grabbing my eBook ( jongood.com/getstarted/ ) where I provide a roadmap to follow.

you have to follow the path first. Sec+ - Cysa - CISA - CISSP.
