I 'm currently teaching two autistic children, one can read basic words and has first grade level math. I don't know how to proceed from basic addition and subtraction like grouping and regrouping, time reading, perimeter and area, etc. The other child is 5 years old. He can't read yet and he is tired of learning initial sounds. Since he can't talk , I am not aware if he is reading to blend letters. I tried to last Friday, but he was not listening..I've been trying to teach sight reading..He can already count from 1-20 and can count objects. I want to proceed to addition ..but he does not listen.

I'm a speechie from Australia and it is SO HOT! It's 900pm and still so muggy! Could you please share - how do you navigate it, when you're trying OWLing techniques, imitating the child (not pushing into their play) and they grab your toy and just walk away (eg into another room)? I have some clients where it feels like I'm following them so much that I'm almost stalking them. Thanks so much :)
