Maybe the reason u ve been saying NO to your husband (and chikdren) is because you have a hard time saying NO to your self (i.e. say to yrself NO about saying NO to your husband). Unless u hv an abusive husband u should never say NO to him.read your bible.
Once i realized that what i called hunger pains was just my digestive system cleansing myself, and not a need for food, it was easier to keep going. On day five of water fast and feel like I could keep going.
I’m not really talking about multiple days of fasting. I’m talking about doing weight training and running or hiit training while under a 36 hour fast or a 24 hour fast.@@teamhaas7406
77 hrs in. Want to do at least 5 days.( preferably 7), but I crave food so badly. The only thing that's holding me is the fact that my body is healing itself.
In 4 hours, I will be on my FIRST 48 hours!!! I definitely had a sugar addiction and food adddiction. Loved sweets. Can’t believe I am doing this during the holidays - been feeling better than I EVER have before. Loving a fasting lifestyle, it’s the way to go 🙌🏼✨🦋 happy holidays everyone !
Any advise for me please ? Yes I am a carbohydrates / sugar junki using these for years to get out of bed as energy due to my severe ME chronic fatigue. I am used to eating none stop to keep on my feet. Now that I am insulin resistant and diabetic 2, I have started to fast 12/12 Then after 2 weeks 16/8. I can’t even right now imagine 24 hr without food as I get hypo shaking and sweating. But I will persevere
@@Freesoul54 You sound like me. I tried this a year or two ago and it didn't work and I threw in the towel. I was doing it all wrong. I used to stuff my face while I was sitting at the computer. I ate all my meals in the living room and snacks. About 2 months ago I decided to eat all my meals at the kitchen table and I turned off the TV. Within a few days it became an automatic habit and I was eating WAY less, I pretty much quit snacking. Then I started the BBB&E challenge on June 16, 2022 and here's my journal entry: CARNIVORE DIARY JUNE 16, 2022 - JUNE 23, 2022 WEEK 1 6/16/2022 THURSDAY: 2 PM: ACV drink 3 PM: 3 scrambled eggs, 5 pieces of bacon 7 PM: 8 oz. hamburger patty cooked in bacon grease and butter, 1 piece of bacon, 2 scrambled eggs Today (6/17/2022), FRIDAY I ate: 2 PM: 4 scrambled eggs, and 5 pieces of bacon 4 PM: 8 oz. hamburger cooked in bacon grease and butter 7 PM: 2 boiled eggs 1:14 AM (SATURDAY) I’m hungry. I don't think I ate enough. I'm unsure if I should eat something or just go to bed. I feel good in the fact that I don't feel bloated. I'm not STARVING, but I am a bit hungry. I might drink some hot water with ACV, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Tomorrow I plan to eat more at each meal. I got hungry about 2 hours after I ate the first two meals (2 and 4 PM) and then the boiled eggs seemed to keep me fuller longer. That's all I know. Going to bed. 6/18/2022, SATURDAY 3:30 PM: 1 lb. beef patty cooked in bacon grease and butter, 3 pieces of bacon 7:30 PM: 1 lb. beef patty cooked in bacon grease and butter, 2 boiled eggs, 2 pcs. of bacon I didn’t get hungry until right around 3 PM. After I ate my first meal, I was full and didn’t get hungry until 7 PM. I stayed fuller longer today. I used Himalayan salt and my R. Calf is no longer cramping. 6/19/2022, SUNDAY 2:15 PM: 2 boiled eggs - still hungry, waiting for meat to thaw 3:30 PM: 1 lb. beef patty cooked in bacon grease and butter 8:30 PM: Ribeye steak cooked in bacon grease and butter 6/20/2022, MONDAY 10:38 AM: I’m hungry (I didn’t eat, just made a note of it.). Had some diarrhea. 2:30 PM: 1 lb. beef patty cooked in bacon grease and butter; 2 eggs OE fried in bacon grease 8:OO PM: Ribeye sautéed in bacon grease and butter This is the first time I’ve fried eggs and not had toast. I almost didn’t do it because I just couldn’t imagine eating them like that. I ate them with a spoon, and what a nice surprise! They were good and I think I definitely prefer the OE over scrambled and hard boiled. I can see why people put this on the patty’s, it would make them more “juicy”. I might do it that way next time. I’m still hungry (3:05 PM). I don’t know if I should eat or wait. How could I be hungry after all of that? Drinking more water. I think I need to eat more at each meal. I have minor cramping in my right calf, and I heard on a YT video today that if it persist in one leg, that could mean some kind of blockage. After I start taking my KETO CHOW electrolytes, if it persists, I might need to get it checked. 1:15 AM (TUESDAY) I am still full from eating the ribeye. I think that I need more fat in my meals. 6/21/2022, TUESDAY 3:30 PM: 8 oz. beef patty sautéed in butter with a 3 pcs. of bacon, 3 eggs OE 7:30 PM Still full. I was fine for the whole day. I watched a video that said that post-menopausal women should fast 20 hours to get the hormones working right and that was the ideal INTERMMITENT amount of time to lose weight if you’ve been stuck. 6/22/2022, WEDNESDAY 4 PM: 8 oz. patty sautéed in butter with 3 pcs. bacon, 4 OE eggs, ½ c. of decaf 11:30 PM: pinch of salt under my tongue for hunger 3 dropperfuls of KETOCHOW in my water. 12:30 AM (THURSDAY) I’m not hungry. My right calf still feels “tight”. My face seems to have thinned out a bit. I don’t feel “bloated”. I haven’t weighed myself because I thought I would get too depressed. I’m just going by how my clothes feel. I think I’ll take pictures to keep track of my progress. I feel good, I don’t crave food. I feel in control. Adding eggs to the beef patty makes it better. I get tired of chewing, but I eat a lot to keep me full for the intermittent fasting. I was only trying to fast 20 hours, but by the time I got hungry, it had been 24 hours. I think I might soon try to do a 36 hour fast. I think that fasting is the key to getting me out of insulin resistance. FITCOACH: First day I did an “easy” workout, and I was out of breath and worn out. Carnivore Journal: June 23, 2022 to June 29, 2022 Week 2 6/23/2022 THURSDAY 8:20 PM: 4 scrambled eggs I fasted more than 24 hours, I was so caught up in what I was doing today, that I didn’t realize how late it was. I did begin to feel nauseated. And that’s when I ate. My jaw started hurting today and I went to the ER because that can be a warning sign of a heart attack. I’m fine. Embarrassed and fine. I had other symptoms that I attributed to the change of diet and fasting, but when I read that jaw pain could be a warning sign, I got a little worried. They did a blood test and I was shocked that they said I had good stats. She said I don't show any insulin resistance. My potassium was a couple of points too low. 6/24/2022 FRIDAY 4:30 PM: Chuck eye sautéed in butter, 4 scrambled eggs I really wasn’t hungry, but I had pulled the beef out earlier so it could sit, thinking I’d be hungry, and it was beginning to turn colors, so I thought I’d better eat it. I’m not hungry and I haven’t been thinking about food. This is shocking to me. 6/25/2022 SATURDAY 4:30 PM: Chuck eye sautéed in butter, 4 scrambled eggs I had some hunger pains in the morning, but I just kept thinking about what I was trying to achieve, and I refrained from eating. They went away after about 20 minutes. And then I was completely fine. I just had to “ride the wave”. 1:26 AM (Saturday morning), I’ve been working on the computer and I’m having hunger pains. I’m thinking I’m not getting enough fat. I’m fine, I know when this happens that it means good stuff is happening. I hope this helps.
In 5 hours I will have completed day 3. Struggling with food addiction is real, but the hours between the anxious cravings are getting better and better. My plan is to do 5 days. I've been sleeping a lot, which is delicious. :-) #Subscribed !
YAYYY CONGRATULATIONS on your Health Journey ❤️🎉 ❤️ I have been having the same results & I'm LOVING how I feel inside & out. My next goal is another 5 day. I have done multiple 3s, 2s, 36s 24s & one each 4.5 and 5 days. I vary depending on what my body TELLS ME to do. The longest fasts started out as being 72 hrs/3days, but my body just wanted to keep going, like seriously I couldn't say no. Lol #BLESSED #FastingCures
Dr Mindy, you are so amazing. Thank you for all you do. I am 67 yrs old, have lost 110 lbs and absolutely LOVE fasting. Definitely have to build that fasting muscle. I wish I could put into words the difference in the way I feel when I’ve fasted over 20 hours. It is so hard to explain.
I'm only 35, but I can relate to what you're saying, there's this sense of.. well being after a day of fasting or so for me. Even if I don't particularly enjoy the lack of eating, my body feels... better I guess. As you said, it's hard to put a finger on it.
Today is day one of my 72 hr fast and I have realized that I am not truly hungry I am just thinking about food and wanting to eat most of the time. It has been eye opening to realize how much I must truly just eat to eat in my days.
I have found that too. I think about how I’d like to grab a plum. I don’t but I’m thinking of it & often it’s not hunger really Ute just I don’t know boredom or habit I started 3 weeks ago & now I have lost 16 pounds. I have tried keto for 3 years at age 58 & I would lose 5 pounds & put it back on I never lost more then 7 pounds but it always came back years ago it did work for me but my hormones must be off now & fasting is the ticket. This is really working & I find it pretty easy.
My sister and I just finished a 7 day water/plain tea fast on a whim lol... we were inspired ... we are now addicted and sharing the miracle of fasting with everyone we know. Thanks for the info on breaking my fast without losing the benefits.
My 19 yo daughter wants to do a three day fast with her father. I’m concerned because she’s always been little (below 5th percentile growth growing up). She exercises daily. I do not think this is safe for her. Her doctor says she tends to be slightly anemic. What do you as a community think? Also, I’m obsessed and she’s seen me struggle to have a healthy relationship with food.
I just finished my 1st 3 day water fast, and it was an experience that I had to document. I noticed so many "little" things happening the closer I got to the 3rd day such as the persistent soreness in my shoulder really easing up, the pain in other parts of my body also seemed to fade away. It's possible that the pain could have been related to inflammation but I have lifted heavy weights and ran for miles and injured myself that way. Also noticed the color of body fluids change even though I was only drinking bottled water. On the 3rd day walking through the hallway at work, after a bad day, a sense of joy overtook me. Really. Out of nowhere I began to smile and happy thoughts filled my mind. Once I broke my fast with chicken soup broth, within 30 minutes or so I felt a strange tingling sensation in my head. I wrote everything down for future reference! I do have amalagm fillings still in my mouth so I didn't experience amazing memory rejuvenation, not sure why though 🤔 But I will continue to practice the forms of fasting I've learned about here 4 the rest of my life. Thank u Dr. Mindy u rock!
I get the tingling on my head too. I believe it is linked to my insulin release. I mostly feel it if I have fruits or something carby. The second it touches my tongue, I feel it
@@lilascharmante2712It you feel it so immediately after the food touching your tongue, it can’t be insulin. Insulin activates after the glucose in your food breaks down and absorbed into the bloodstream. I wonder if it’s a dopamine thing instead.
Thank you so much for all that you do. I’ve been fasting on & off the last year…. All wrong. The knowledge I’ve gained from your videos has improved my health so quickly (weight loss, less brain fog and better concentration, etc). I’m in my mid 50’s and now know what I need to do to “live” better, not just exist. Thanks again. KHC
Just completed a 20 day pure water fast....feel really good...a great way to reset everything....Metta to everyone on this journey and Dr Mindy thanks for the inspiration.....
So eager to hear your take on helping teenagers adapt to healthy Keto. I have 8 grandchildren and they’re used to Nana making them whatever tasty treats they want 😕 but I would rather lead them down a healthy path so that they can experience the benefits I’ve been experiencing and avoid chronic illness down the road.
Listening to this talk 108hrs into my water fast. Set out for 42hrs fast but decided to listen to my body and since i did not feel hungry, i just kept going. Not sure how far i will take it but i trust my body will tell me when i have fasted enough. My concern is how to break in a healthy way, not binge eat, and avoid diarrhea after breaking the fast. This talk is helpful, thank you.
Im not on Keto. I did fasting 96 hrs recently for the first time. Broke my fast with veg soup, then fruits. Then I ate steamed veg, fish curry, 2 boiled eggs, wild black rice. My dessert was chia seed with black beans and coconut pudding. Then i drank bone both. I ate in 3hrs window after this long last. I now practise eating OMAD in 1-2hrs window. I have done for 3 wks so far. I used to overeat so badly on Keto for 3 months so I stop this diet. For myself now I find eating OMAD and IF works for me. I eat good whole food with a bit of everything including good carbs. This stops me overeating. I feel satisfied. U inspired me to do prolonged fasting Dr. Thank u so much for yr info. My first fast went really well. No side effects. 🙏🙏
Just found your videos a couple of days ago! So much great information! I read The Obesity Code a couple of years ago and was doing well when I was derailed by my mom's passing. Getting back into it and was struggling. Your videos have encouraged me and given me a renewed sense of "I can do this!" I thank the Lord He led me to your videos! Thank you for sharing such great info!!! :)
Thank you so much for this video. I was so happy when I finally completed 70 hrs of fasting but ended up binging afterwards, but i'm going to keep practicing because I loved how i felt during the water fast!
So turned on to fasting, my sister has been fasting for over a year. We would go somewhere and I felt she was straving me to death. She could go hours& hours without food. I tried fast with her but couldn't see results, after seeing you videos and researching more I'm so motivated! I'm 62, with thyroid disease. Going to work really hard on fasting. Listening to you inspires me more. Thank you for your great work. Libs
I often break my fast with my homemade Guacamole Salad... Could that work for your 5th tip? You asked about avocado Dr Mindy? You could use my recipe 😉 one avocado, organic if possible, ....cut open, slice dice mash whatever way you want to use your avocado... then add seasonings , preferably fresh organic, but I use dried ground turmeric, ground ginger, Pink Sea salt, I like mine fine ground, fresh ground blk pepper, and dried onion, sometimes a little smoked paprika.... fresh squeezed lemon juice & sprinkle with hemp seeds. I usually have it on a bed of mixed organic greens... spinach, arugula, red lettuce etc... sometimes I will steam kale or use veg broth & saute it & have it as part of my Guacamole Salad 🥗 For extra fat, if wanted/needed, top salad with Tahini or vegan cheese etc...the nutritional options are Endless & perfect for my mostly OMAD, mostly plant based & mostly warm foods during winter months like soups , curries & stews are my go to meals but I ALWAYS make sure I get in my GBOMBS Greens, beans, onions, mushrooms, berries/seeds & Seeds/nuts.... My Guacamole Salad is basically a low protein, mod to high fat, high fiber, under 50 net grams unless the fiber content is way up,( like mid 70s to 💯 grams of fiber up lol) I use a huge plate or bowl, depending on my mood.
Thank you so much. I got really scared rebounding a few times thinking that I was getting into yo-yo dieting and it would only get worse but to hear it’s normal is very encouraging!!!
regarding breaking a fast with salt and cinnamon....I start every day with a drink I make with cinnamon, salt, stevia tincture and 2 tablespoons of ACV with the mother in about 12 ounces of water. I do the cinnamon for taste...I didn't know about what you mentioned with cinnamon and metabolism!!!! thank you Dr. Mindy for your great support! Sending love from Jerusalem!
Remember! Ceylon cinnamon is the healthiest cinnamon. Most others aren't good for you. Keep up the good work and way to go for all your successful fasts!!💚
Been fasting keto for over 1 yr usually brake my fast with water with acv then cauliflower rice with shrimp. No rebound but I am fat adapted. And yes fasting for me is my happy place.
AMAZING INFORMATION! I'VE LOST 31 LBS SINCE LATE JULY, KNOCKED OUT 16, 24, AND A 36 HOUR FAST. NEXT, IM TRYING THE PROTEIN CYCLING BECAUSE IVE BEEN WORKING OUT 60 MIN 4 DAYS PER WEEK. SO GRATEFUL TO BE 43 AND BUILDING/ SEEING MY BEST BODY EVER
Just getting started on fasting. Looks like it has amazing potential. Finished my first 24 hour fast an hour ago. Longest I've ever gone in my life without eating. First 16 hours were easy. Next four I was feeling hungry. Last four I was hungry and didn't have much energy. For the last 2 hours I had a light headache. Thanks for all the information on this subject, Mindy.
I’m very new to this live style. I’ve been doing the intermittent fasting since Nov. 6 , and I have an amazing results: -18/6 fasting -two 24 hours fasts -8 lb weight loss -7K-9K steps walks daily -much more energy -much better relationship with food I am very grateful for you and the information that you provide. Thank you! (Planning on the 36 hours fast over the weekend 😊)
Wow...thank you Dr. Last day i did 3 day water fast. I could have gone more days...but i was worried of constipation. I didn't poop for 3 days. So i decided to break the fast with broth and sauerkraut. And after an hour i go to toilet. No constipation. What i get the benefit is amazing....mental clarity.....more energy(go every day to gym)....and i notice improvement in my face skin. It is getting brighter.
This was by far one of the best videos!!! Or maybe I am just ready to hear it- having trouble with my feasting - this was exactly what I needed- thank you! Your’re right- I can’t believe I’m so much happier ! My mood is great! And I suffer from depression! Not medicated and the fasting is making a difference- I do Omad.
Same here. This clip helped me with the four steps I will now do after completing a fast: *Bone Broth *Yogurt *Probiotic (sauerkraut) *Steamed Broccoli Easy Peasy Habit to Start, especially adapting these steps as “extending” my fast, before eating a “meal.” (I am a OMADr.) I know that I’m now “fat adapted” because doing clean 24hr fasts, twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays), have been EASY. I plan on doing quarterly 36hr-fasts, too. I began Intermittent Fasting 18 months ago, to lose weight, but now, my interest is the healing that’s going on in my body! I’m 69 and my inflammation, especially my knees, has decreased dramatically! (I avoid meds like the plague!) PS: I’ve lost 74 pounds so far. My goal is to lose another 38, to reach 120 pounds. I’m 5’3”.
The doctors 100% right on rebounding. My longest fast have been 15 18 22 day and 25 day fasts. I don't know how the end of fast and I don't know how to stop from rebounding. Yes it'll actually I know how but doing it is another matter. Thank you.
thank you so much for these videos. i have been fasting for 16 hours and my pants feel a bit loser - but not much. I am learning so much from your content.
I started pushing back breakfast an hour to 0700 then to 0800 etc until I skipped breakfast and had lunch around 1300 and had dinner at 1900 or before, being a truck driver you can imagine my belly size, it was 38/40 inches. Bigger than my inside leg. I did my 1st 3 day fast and day 1 was the worst and I took McVitie's Digestive Biscuits with me incase it was too much, So glad to say I am still looking at them...I have changed my thought process on how my body works and do drink coffee a lot during my fasts, with 1/4 of a reaspoon of sugar in 1 litre of hot water in my flask a day. I watched Dr.Mindy and how she advised to change it up on fastings, so I do a 3 OMAD and then 2 days eat moderately and then do a 3 day fast, 8 days so the body gets confused. Animal protein is down to almost nil, veg consumption is high cooked in Olive Oil. Waist still shrinking and almost back to my teenage dimensions and I am 57 years old and I can't remember feeling this sharp mentally and energetic. Hardest times were when breakfast was being pushed back and day 1 of my 1st 3 day fast. Breakfast was 2 eggs 4 bacon in 2 buns with ketchup wrapped up in tin foil to keep warm plus stopping at Greggs for more and then Fish n Chips at night...All this energy was never used so I just got fatter...Move breakfast back, hour by hour and soon you will not notice, then get on to a 24 hour fast, you can do it, and after a few 24 hour fasts try a 2 or 3 day. Believe and you can do it, the road is long but you can travel down it and you will succeed, I took McVitie with me and looked at them many times, more scared my energy would drop and my truck would become out of control and people would get hurt, but I was at NO POINT short of energy or alertness and the biscuits are in my cupboard still...Good people try this route for your healthier mind , body and soul..Good Luck to all here...
I have been practicing fasting since August of this year. I've lost 55 pounds and no longer have an unhealthy relationship with food. I love your videos, I watch you every morning while getting ready for work.
I've been doing healthy keto with intermittent fasting since mid November of 2022 and I have lost about 27 lbs, but have recently started fasting for longer periods at a time, because I hit a weight set point, I got stuck at about 23 lbs of weight loss. Just found your channel, and want to try some of your techniques so I am interested in your reset academy. Thanks!
I found your channel yesterday through the Primal Kitchen interview. I'm almost on week 4 of fasting, so I was super excited to come across your channel yesterday because it really got me even more excited about fasting! I'm glad I found this video today. I've been doing OMAD. And I'm doing great with it. However... when it's time to eat I've been over eating. I'm doing keto. I'll eat a huge arugula leafy green salad with fermented olives and olive oil with ACV, a protein with sautéed veggies and avocado, a little handful of berries, 1/2 cup of pecans and a TBS (or more of peanut butter). I'm learning though by listening to my body. And last night all that food was too much! And I eat it all together because I want to sit down with my husband and kids and have dinner as a family. So tonight I'll start with some bone broth and see how that feels and I'll break it all up in your process! Thank you for all of your amazing videos! I watched several while I exercised yesterday. I loved learning about eating around your cycle. I plan on buying your book, Fast Like a Girl, so I can learn even more! ❤
Thank you so much for your work and bringing this knowledge to us! I'm pretty new to exploring fasting, and it's been a total revelation for me! My digestion, moods, and energy have all improved dramatically with the few explorations I've made into 2 and 3 day fasts. Bonus: my relationship with food and body image have truly changed from anxious/preoccupied to becoming grateful and relaxed. Our dynamic bodies are truly amazing! I had no idea that fasting with healing intentions could so simply, profoundly improve the way I experience my body and perceptions.
The particular way you have passion and explain all of this is helping me so greatly! The only thing I do differently which doesn’t even come up in your discussions much .. is the meat and dairy etc.. but I don’t mind because everything else is so helpful to me..!!!❤️💜💜
I’ll look forward to the protocol for teenagers as my son is trying to mimic my fasting & keto lifestyle but I’m afraid it’ll stunt his growth. Thank you Dr Mindy for all your great work! Really appreciate it!
Dear Dr Mindy. Your attitude to fasting is the most encouraging and inspirational influence I've ever encountered. You are responsible for helping me to change my thinking and become much more rational and balanced about the fasting lifestyle. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
Just subscribed 🇹🇼 Great content, much appreciated. I did a 16/8 IF for over a year w/ 4 gym workouts & 4 walk / wk Just did a 14 day water only fast, lost 10.2kg, still did the same gym/walks, wasn’t hungry or tired. Then did 1 week of Bone Broth w/ vegetable soup for my OMAD. Kept all the weight off ( no weight gained 🎉) still did gym/walks. Week 4 ( starting this wkd) I’ll add probiotics (Kimchi, pickles, bit of ACV is ok right ?) & then will add vegetables , then week 5 eggs & meat again all in a OMAD style. Happy summer everyone
Dr. Mindy, you are a beacon of hope for humanity. Fundamentally, you have tapped into the key to preserving life. You are a big deal in my life and probably many more lives.
TMI Warning: Can I just yell at the top of this mountain that my hemorrhoids are gone! After I gave birth to my son, for years ago, I developed hemorrhoids that never went away. They weren’t painful but they definitely made me self-conscious. About a month into fasting I noticed that they were greatly reducing in size and now they’re practically gone. Whaaaat!? Winning. Oh yeah, and I feel happy like all the time now so yay for regulated brain chemistry.
Good for you!! Luckily I never had them but I can imagine it being a very annoying impractical thing to have. I hope fasting can help with joint health, I want to keep running long distance but my feet are giving me grief with inflammation, and I already know how my food choices impact that so to give my whole system a rest to do a deep cleaning of the tissues and cells sounds promising, although I have not yet mastered the art of slow and sensible refeeding. ✌️
The most helpful and most awesome video ever on fasting and how to break it with a four step process. Thank You, Dr. Mindy l! 😘🙃😍👍❤️. I just broke a 92-hour fast last night because my blood sugar was at 53. My Ketones were at 5.8 (fairly okay). But I broke it before I saw this video. And, of course I rebounded. My blood sugar is up to 110😆. And my ketones are non-existing. I broke it with Cocoyo then a handful of berries, then sauerkraut with kale, bone broth wakamie noodles. I started rebounding after mid-night and couldn’t sleep. So today I figured I’d better go back into fasting again and break it with Dr. Mindy’s 4-step process. Thank You so much Dr. Mindy for being such a great health teacher! You’re all I needed to steer my self around the corner of aging well! What a gift you are to Life, Love, & Light; Health, Wholeness, and Happiness! 😘
I did my first 24 hr fast this past weekend and the break-fast I had was waaaaaay too overwhelming! After experiencing the discomfort of too much too "fast"... sorry couldn't resist.... I've made a plan to ease back into my standard 16:8 IF with a nice light veggie stir-fry with an egg and a tbsp of almond flour to start, then have a smaller version of my normal lunch/dinner when that time comes 'round. I can't wait to try it this coming weekend!
How to break a fast: (consider it part of the fast - 20 minutes to 24 hours) Four step process: 1) Bone Broth , or vegetable broth 2) Probiotic rich food - yogurt (coconut), fermented - sauerkraut , 3) Steamed veggies - broccoli, cauliflower, etc 4) Animal meat, scrambled eggs, hamburger meat, etc
I've practiced fasting for 2 year's now... At first I thought it was me thinking something was wrong with all the food that I eat. Everytime I break my fast, I could feel my insulin spiking... I feel amazing when fasting.
It is the gift. Fasting, I started a couple of years ago. And now I am happiest when I am not eating feeling much lighter and loving my body as my bloated belly diminishes during fasting. I look better, especially my posture.
Best video of yours ever for me. I do a lot of omad and eat in the evening. I'm coming off a 3 day fast and extending it so I can break it in the morning. I'm finding breaking the extended fast in the morning to be easier because I don't usually eat in the morning and the overnight sleep has broken the long period of anticipation.
Hi Ma'am. Thanks so much for sharing this. I scanned the comments and noticed that no one asked my questions, so I apologise if they seem stupid. 1) You don't define what you mean by rebounding after a fast. What exactly does that mean? and... 2) You keep stressing about being fat adapted. What is the process for getting fat adapted? Thank you for all your help.
1. Rebounding would be to eat a lot of food immediately after fasting. Basically overdoing it and negating the fast. 2. To become fat adapted you need to cut out most carbs. Eat a ketogenic diet under 20g of carbs daily. When your body goes into ketosis it will learn to burn fat for energy in the absence of glycogen. When your body becomes efficient at burning fat for fuel you're considered fat adapted. This can take 2-12 weeks depending on the person. It took me 9-10 weeks.
I’m still working on trying to fast for 16 hrs, I easily start sweating and feel weak . I’m very insulin resistant but I’ve lost about 15 lbs in 6 months and I haven’t been at 180 lbs for 30 years. At 67, 5 9”, my goal is 150, be fat adapted, lose belly fat, get my blood work in shape. But it hasn’t been easy. This has been very helpful info in trying to reach my goal. Definitely have dopamine resistance.
After the bone broth and then an avocado a little later, would a collagen shake w/ almond milk be okay? Not too disruptive on the gut? Thanks for so much great information; I'm learning so much. You are truly awesome. You should be our next Surgeon General!! (:
Dr Mindy thank you, thank you, thank you!! Your channel is absolutely amazing - you are absolutely amazing! I don't have any weight to lose but coming off a 3 year period of illness I am wanting a big focus on my gut health to get stronger and better than ever and I have found that with all of your incredible focus on the microbiome. I love that you are not just all about weight loss - there are many like me I am sure that just want to be in the best health we can be. I was already eating "well" but I am now eating way more calories and healthy fats than I was and I"m looking forward to my first 24 hour fast (which starts literally right now!). I'm excited! xx
The first time I fasted 24 hours I totally rebounded and felt like I could not eat enough or get full but the next time was so much easier it was awesome!!!!! Just keep doing it and it will get better and easier every time!
In ramadan Persian fasting the fast is broken by sweet tea and piece of freshly baked bread with a piece of Greek feta cheese on it and a feast of fresh vegetables and a walnut, then later on they eat their main meal.
I just rebounded really badly after my first 72 hour fast. 😭 But I also accidentally did my fast in the week before my period. My cycle was shorter this month because I am in perimenopause. I am sure this is why I found it so much harder to eat well after my fast was over. 😔
So true ! Great advice. I have followed a person with a 100 hr fast. She made big mistakes, she went in strong after her fast . She totally regretted, her stomach went crazy. She admitted she had let the hunger guide her in the end. Baby steps , on waking up your gut. She said she would never do a 100 hr fast again. Her brain took over. The mind is just incredible. I appreciate watching your old videos as support and learning.
This is what I’ve been looking for, coz I can do extended fasting but I binge after which is not really helpful. So I lose weight after the fast but gain it right back after eating. Not good. I’m gonna try these 4 steps. Thank you Dr. Mindy!
I just finished 68 and felt amazing but didn't lost much weight i dont know why is it mother nature is coming .great video as always dr im big fan thx alot
Since fasting I am not hungry as I eat ketogenic too I also need less to eat on my main meals Im sure my stomach has shrunk.I am now in control of my appetite in a positive way.I havent done a 24 hour fast yet but still feel great
I love your content, finally subscribed. Thank you for presenting fasting as a skill that requires development. I've been using fasting for a couple of years and not only do the fasts get easier over time, they feel better. Totally worth the commitment to this healthy tool. I'm taking a fasting break right now (thank you for that advice) and in a couple of weeks I'm going to go into a five day water fast. My goal is a ten day fast toward the end of the year. Love this way to develop personally as well as physically.
Thought I'd share my fasting self-experiment here. I did strength training for 2 months. Did one rep max tests for 6 exercises. Definitely increased my capacity to move mass. Threw in some stamina tests too like the crucifix, one-min pushups and sit-ups, the plank etc and my performance was as such. Well, I water fasted for 136 hours (taking only a centrum vitamin tablet daily and drinking sea salt water at night). I started testing myself when I was about 80 hours into the fast with the stamina tests only. My performance was actually higher :) I started strength testing (one-rep max) after about 130 hours and my strength scores were about the same, but my strength to weight ratio scores were indeed higher especially with deadlift in which I lifted more :D Afterwards I broke my fast. What a great experience! I felt weaker, but when I stepped up - strength wise my capabilities were about the same.
Thank you for all that you are and share, honouring your soul journey 💚 I agree fasting is a healing gift from Spirit 🌹 I have been challenged with the refeeding and pray I can continue to get better at it 😇 as it is as important as fasting knowing how to nourish ourselves on all levels. It is about self love and will power , it also compels us to simplicity 💚 wish to share that trusting one’s intuition is as important, rather than trying to control, fasting is a healing tool for wholeness and embodying spirit in flesh 🌹 hope it helps 😇 love grace and blessings 💖 aka love dry fasting I find it easier than water fasting ✡️
I am a new subscriber and I must say Dr. Mindy, you are an extremely inspirational coach/teacher. That is a an amazing gift, and I want to thank you for sharing it. Thank you. Truly.
Totally agree with you on all of levels. Fasting is the most important tool in the box. I am realizing more and more that we must switch it up so I am starting a 24 hour shorter then at the end of the week will do a 36 hour. I have been fasting for years but this past year has been a true eye opener. We have all cheated and now that we have been doing this for awhile, you will not crave the junk. Once the taste buds are reset what you thought was SOOO good is horrible. Thank you as always....
I just did my first intentional fast of about 18 hours and although I wasn’t hungry I ended up eating about 5 decent sized meals worth of food when I broke my fast 😅!! It’s a learning curve… even though I didn’t think I had issues with food or emotional eating because I’m a healthy weight (58kg and 170cm tall) turns out that maybe I do! Definitely realising i use food as a way of rewarding myself - luckily I prefer rich whole foods like salmon and avocado but still! Reckon I probably ate 2500+ calories today. Anyway, onwards and upwards… looking forward to using these tips tomorrow or the next day when I break my next intermittent fast
Fasting lifestyle. I love that. I’m fasting approximately 40 hours at least two times a week. I’m getting better about the binging but it’s hard. I crave sugar. Honey Nut Cheerios? I can eat a family sized box. It’s like my brain is giving me permission because of the fasting. So I can fast no problem and I’m starting to break my fasts with bone broth but it still gets ugly with the sugar at this point. I’m so close…I think
I did a 2 week fast. Post fast, I have followed your advice for 2 days in first drinking bone broth, then after an hour fermented vegetables and then steamed veggies. Just after eating the veggies I feel that sensitivity of my sugar levels switching to glucose. Now I'm looking how to eat. Hope this video answers it🙏
