Well actually if you hit them with a concussion detonator it stuns them and then they start swinging around randomly

Brooo Nightwing was my fav character to get combos with. You just killed him in front of my eyes hahahaha.

One thing I hate about Nightwing's sticks and Robin's staff is that they're less effective than a baseball bat. You can hit the shield guys, the shock stick guys, and the brutes with a baseball bat but not with Nightwing or Robin's weapon. You can't fight the shock stick guys with Nightwing's shock sticks!!! Makes no sense.

The disruptor in Arkham Knight is probably one of the best pieces of equipment in the whole series. I didn’t believe this until I was told but you can use it on cobra tanks with a certain upgrade. And the next shot will destroy it😂

I feel that the concussion detonator was put in the game because they needed some gadget like the REC in City and it ended up being near useless because the REC had more functions.

The deal with the Escrima Sticks is that he throws the same sticks he uses to hit people. So if you quickfire them in combat, you have to wait until the stick comes back to attack. It can actually break your combo if you hit a guy too far away.

I remember Alfred telling me to use the concussion detonator instead of beating the cops up and after throwing it at a few cops I completely gave up on that one and then just beat them up like common criminals.

When I got the concussion detonator in origins I legit asked What's the point in this?

One positive thing about the Concussion Detonator. It's really good against certain bosses. It will destroy multiple Copperhead Clones and Instantly Stun Firefly. Other than that, meh.

The snapflash in Arkham Knight is actually overpowered if you sneak up behind grunts and place them on them before you take someone out they instantly get taken out

I feel like you have more of a problem with nightwings animations in combat rather than his escrima sticks as a whole

Will say just played through Arkham City again. Quickfire caltrop in the big fights like the arena at the museum when you're in the middle of the crowd can consistently stop 8 people and when in ng+ with everybody holding weapons and no indication. They are not a needed tool but definitely useful

Yeah I didn't like the caltrops either and knew they'd he on here when I remembered how useless they was when I first used them

Damn, I had more trouble playing as Robin and his slow ass beat down. And yeah Catwoman’s gadgets sucks, she kills it in combat but I never had a use for her clunky gadgets.

I was about to go off when I first heard "Disruptor" lmao. That thing is amazing in Arkham Knight.

I may be biased with Nightwing because he’s somehow the character I’ve gotten my best combo with in any of the Arkham games ever, but honestly stepping back and looking at his play style as a whole I guess he was kind of clunky, which is a shame because I thought his character in Knight was great. Hopefully in whatever they do next with this series they can bring him back and tweak his play style a bit, because he has the potential to be a very fun character to play as.

YES to Catwoman's caltrops. I found them particularly irritating in Knight because tripped enemies can still detect you as you're taking them out. It made the toy store challenge map the most frustrating in the entire series.

The disruptor is a bad gadget? Such a dissapointment. You're right, it's great in arkham knight, but believe me, it helped me so much in arkham origins and city.

The bullet shield that Robin has is pretty useless to me. Only used it when they wanted you to in order to get passed an obstacle. But otherwise I never use it to help in a stealth section or combat. It's just there for the game developers to make you use every now and then

Okay, there is one time where the concussion detonator is genuinely useful: In the fight with Copperhead. If you use the Concussion Detonator, her dopplegangers die to it in one hit. Everywhere else: You could forget it was even there and not have a problem.

About the concussion detonator...there's definitely a reason Batman dropped it from his arsenal. I think he threw it together probably a few months before Origins takes place and never got around to testing it out on real enemies. So when he actually started using it for the first time (in Origins) he was like "yeah no, fuck this thing."

The ONLY time i used the concussion detonator was when I went up against the 20 armoured police with machine guns in GCPD and that was just because it slowed them down a bit.

Honestly the worst part about the Eskrima Sticks was how often you had to do the thing in predator missions where you had to hit 3 goons at the same time with them. They'd never bunch together in the right way, and when they did, they'd never target correctly.

Yeah I think its really cool how large of a contrast there is betweeKnight and Origins when it comes to the technical stuff

I'm a little surprised you didn't talk about explosive gel functioning like the concussion grenade in combat mode for Arkham Knight, but having thought about it I think there is a critical difference (and it's not that it doesn't take a slot away from the REC, which is still important). Making medics hit other guys gives it more value, since it's making them do the _exact opposite_ of what they should be doing. If you want mooks to hit each other you can just use the REC against anyone with a weapon. Medics don't pick up sticks or tasers unless they're very desperate.

What bothers me about Nightwings sticks mostly in Arkham Knight especially is that when you pick up a pipe and use it on an electric stick enemy it hurts them without going behind or shocking them but with Nightwing you use your sticks against them and it still damages you. like surely it should count either way being you’re not using your fists against them.

I'm amazed Deathstroke's neural pellet isn't on the list. It works like Robin's snap flash (you plant it on unsuspecting enemies' backs), but the snap flash at least knocks the target and anyone around them down and they stay down for quite some time. The neural pellet... just disorientates the one thug you planted it on? I'm convinced the reason it's not on this list is because people simply forgot it existed.

Not the actually worst but i think the Most useless gadget in the whole series is the remote batarang in asylum, went through the whole game just using it once and that was only For an achievement💀

I disagree about the Caltrops, in combat if you're getting overwhelmed they can give you a bit of breathing room, I've used it a few ties to ensure I didn't die Also with the origins disruptor I don't think it's distance, I think it's more when objects get between you and your target, blocking the shot, which is true for all ranged gadgets.

I've only used the concussion detonator once (on purpose anyway).

It's weird how they gave the Concussion Detonator function to the explosive gel in AK. What was the point of that? the Quickfire Explosive Gel in AC was way better

Bruce Wayne in Arkham Origins has Caltrops too, but they're much easier to use compared to Catwoman's. XD

Here’s my top worst gadgets 5: Specks (Joker’s “Detective Mode”) 4: Caltrops (Catwoman’s Ground weapon) 3: Disruptor (Arkham Origins) 2: Concussion Donators (Arkham Origins) 1: The Batclaw The reason why I have a problem with the Batclaw is that does Batman have a rope to pull things and a grapple, they should have just make a claw gadget with the grappling feature or vis versa

Lmao I played better with nightwing than the other characters in city I always felt he was a mix of Batman and catwoman speed wise not as slow as Batman and not as fast as catwoman

The fact that the concussion detonator has a time fuse of 3 seconds is even worse because by the time it detonates you’re already going to have the guy on the ground.

For me, the remote control batarang. In arkham asylum it went through multiple enemies and you could at least knock one or two guys out with it before retreating. But in arkham city and origins it can only hit 1 guy. Sometimes you're better throwing single batarangs

What they could have done with the Concussion Detonator: Make it where if you place it on a Unsuspecting Thug and detonate it, it K.o's them. Note, it has to be a Unsuspecting one, as in, not in Combat. So at the start of a Predator Section, you could place it on a Bad Guy, and take him out like that

Surprised the Remote Batarang from Asylum didn't make the cut. It's literally used one time, in a Challenge Map. Not even part of the game.

I keep forgetting that the grappling gun isn't that effective in combat and keep trying to use it to kill regular militia. All it does is slightly pull them to me even though I got the knock out ability for it.

I've been replaying Origins these past few days right after Arkham City and I simply feel like Arkham City is leagues above Origins in almost everything... And I was waiting for the concussion detonator to make it to the list... it's the worst...

Joker and stealth don't really seem like it marries up

You're supposed to use the caltrops in combat to trip thr enemies. I agree it's still not great, but they're not horrible.

Catwoman's caltrops are best used for crowd control in areas where you are facing a lot of enemies.

There is really no bad gadgets. There all useful in their own way.

The concussion detonator is pretty useless but I think the worst is the Remote Controlled Batarang from Arkham Asylum

I like the Caltrops, because they come quite in handy when there's a lot of enemies around you, and you're *really* needing to get that Combo up, like the one Joker DLC Mission where you have to get as much points as you can in the time limit. If used right, it effectively stun-locks everyone around you and allows you to take out everyone around you without having to worry too much about getting hit back. They'll hold their legs and jump around and even sometimes flop onto the ground. The problem I see with it is that you could just use Catwoman's Ultra Stun move instead to do the same effect, since getting overwhelmed rarely happens, but the benefit of the Caltrops is that if they're used right, you're basically doing a semi-weaker version of the Ultra Stun instantly, without needing to use up your Combo Ability. It's pretty much useless in Predator mode, though, but it definitely has it's uses if used right. It's great to use in Combat, and it ended up being my favourite Catwoman gadget as a result, since it helped me a lot with some of the Riddler Trophies (god I hate those things), or just getting riddler informants in highly populated areas. I definitely wouldn't put it below the Disruptor, since the Disruptor in Batman Arkham Origins is pretty much useless, lol

I get the Concussion Detonator in AO but what about the Remote Control Baterang from AA? It has no purpose in the whole game other than to give you an achievement and unlike the CD you can't use it in a combo.

Wait what? Those caltrops are awesome. Drop them in the middle of your fight area and everyone who steps on them drops. I was stringing together great combos by using them towards the end of a fight.

Huh, I actually like Catwoman's caltrops and used them a fair bit while fighting, I think they are pretty nice when you're in a fight with many enemies.

Here's mine for batman specifically concussion detonator at 1 sonic batarang (only cause it isn't needed, I think it's really cool) glue grenades bat claw AA (just because you couldn't grab Riddler trophies, other than that, it's cool) smoke pellets (just rarely used by me anymore) it's kinda hard when most of the gadgets are usable and fun, so I only have one legitimate answer. also nightwing is cool, get good (as a satirical toxic gamer comment, of course) other than that good list

Yeah, I used that concussion detonator twice. Once to find out that it was completely useless on my first play through and then again against my will to complete the achievement. I've played through Origins every year round Christmas time. Every time Alfred forces me to come back to the Batcave to get that piece of garbage and every year I say "WHY?" loudly for all to hear.

I kind of disagree with the Escrima Sticks. In stealth mode (at least in arkham city) if you throw it at an enemy it would ricochet and hit them from the opposite direction from where you threw it, making them look for you in the wrong direction.

I actually liked the caltrops. I agree that they were a little difficult to use effectively, but they were a cool concept and I actually found them to be quite handy at times. I think you should have included the Remote Claw instead, it made predator sequences way too easy. It was basically the equivalent of having gargoyles that can do inverted takedowns by themselves.

I find the caltrops useful for if your getting overwhelmed with enemies.

The concussion detonator is useful in combat, I remember you can upgrade it and the concussion effect will spread to nearby thugs including the brutes, so maybe if your health is low you can focus on, for example, the martial artist thug without worrying other thugs trying to kill you.
