Hi Steve, recently decided that mixology and drink making is a definite thing I want to get into, do you have any tips for young people trying to get into this😊 any books etc, I'm from the UK so some of our ingredients differ and I'm not the richest of fellers so tend to go for cheaper brands😂 your vids are like my studying material, must say Ive loved all I've watched so far, thanks😊😊
@@rustyshackleford7479 don't know about “upper or lower 48” (referred to as the states), but in Golferville Resort areas ArnoldPalmer’s been a classic sweet Tea w/Lemon drink for decades. I'm pretty certain anyone could go to any golf resort worldwide and order an Arnold Palmer with or without your added spikes. Well done Steve. Nice choice of homemade Hibiscus Tea.
That moment when you are watching a lecture and your laptop shows that your phone is disconnected from the internet. You go and check and just as you reconnected a new video from Steve pops up and you realize the lecture can wait till you have tried each of the drinks out 👌🏼
Coconut water that you buy in the store is typically from young coconuts and also as citric or ascorbic acid added, so it tastes way different than coconut water from a mature coconut.
Great combo of recipes. Your expression after tasting the coconut made my day. I do not know why, sometimes the coconut water tastes great once you crack the nut, and other times it taste kind of "soap-like"; At least in my oppinion and experience. Now I have some ideas what to drink during the weekend. Thanks Steve.
Hey man, haha just here to let you know how to crack a coconut. In my culture we say crack it between the eyes. Basically, look for the 3 dots on the coconut, between 2 of the dots(the eyes) there should be a line running through them. That’s where you use the knife. Love watching your videos man.
One of my favorite things to do with coctails is taking vodka based drinks and replacing the vodka with gin or tequila just to see what happens. Works more often than you would think.
With the last tea based cocktail I’d use a French earl grey tea with is a black tea with hibiscus, and a dash of simple syrup to sub for the hibiscus syrup
Me and my family from Puerto Rico use a "Machete" to open the coconuts. We're not bartender professionals so if you try it just watch where your hands are.
Hey Steve, in Trinidad (Caribbean) we usually open a coconut by throwing it aggressively from the top of the stairs or just smashing it against a clean wall. Cheers.
Steve, Just one BIG wack in the middle will give you a cleaner cut if you can live with 2 equal halves. Also, coconut water from a fresh coconut shell should be the best drink one can think of (think about all the natural filters in producing this juice, from the roots of coconut tree to all the way to the shell). Grocery store coconut must be months old, so no wonder it didnt taste good when you tasted
Yeah I was trying to only knock off a bit from the top so I would have plenty of room for the drink... unfortunately any coconuts I can get wouldn’t be super fresh.. 😔
You’ve made me appreciate gin and so many other spirits, in a whole new way. Why do I feel like vodka doesn’t add much complexity or flavor to a cocktail?
It doesn't... but that can be the beauty of it.. neutral flavour... it provides the booze whilst you can highlight clean flavours... the Cucumber Basil Gimlet is a perfect example... clean, fresh, herbaceous flavours..
Great video and I loved the versatile selection of drinks! Something for everyone! I think the gimlet was the best and I'll be trying that when my basils start to grow again after the winter up north!
I’m sure someone has already said this Steve but the brown coconuts used to make shredded coconut etc. does not have nice coconut water, the young coconuts have the nice water.
If you put the coconut on a board and tap it whit the back of your knive you shouldent ned that many hits and it should brake apart more cleanly 😉 love your videos ❤️❤️ and always great Cocktails
Sometimes I wonder if vodka cocktails are better served with a different spirit. The Chi Chi seems like it would play better as the OG with rum (or even Chatreuse in the Pina Verde) and the Cucumber Vodka Gimlet seems like it would be elevated with gin in place of the vodka. However, vodka seems really at home in the Cocktail Culture. It also seems like vodka is at home in Boozy Arnold Palmer either. Nice to see some cocktails where vodka is (likely) the ideal spirit.
How your supposed to open up a coconut is get stranded on an island and open it up with an ice skate that you found. I think I saw that work well somewhere.
Arnald Palmers are a very delicious non-alcoholic summer drink, they're super refreshing because of the combination of Iced Tea and Lemonade. On a side note I've watched video's from the Educated Barfly and its funny how they've tried to incorprate your signiture shaker/stur smile.
Steve you the man. Stumbled across your vids recently. Top banana! Quick question: you always have fresh lemon/lime juice to hand. Do you buy this or just spend all day juicing fruit? Any tips to get this done quickly?
I love your videos! I am in the states. I’ve been wondering when I will be able to get your gin! Also the Cucumber Vodka Gimlet sounds incredible. I will have to make it. I’ll use new amsterdam since that’s the vodka I have
The majority of the world's vanilla is commonly known as Bourbon vanilla (after the former name of Réunion, Île Bourbon) or Madagascar vanilla. So, I think the rinse only refers to vanilla extract and not actually bourbon-whiskey infusion of vanilla.
the boozy arnold palmer: ha, ha, ha-aaa (imagine jimmy carr's laugh here): I though t I was clever when I started using herbal teas with our Shabat cocktails (cause both me and my dad need to get off sugarry drinks, so I couldn't use syrups and liqueurs as much). as for the vodka gimlet - I hate basil anywhere but in pizza sauces. So I tried with mint instead, and them with sage - I loo-oove sage in just about anything, so I adopted it!! thanks for all these ideas of what to do with my vodka!! my youngest just turned 18 as well, and she is over the moon for getting included into the drinking circle 😻 after trying them all, I'm still most partial to the sage cucumber vodka gimlet. Cheers! 🍹
Steve, I know you sometimes mention the higher prices on certain things in Australia. I am pretty sure that you have us beat in the U.S on the price of that little jar of Hibiscus syrup. I just bought it in Los Angeles and paid $10.00
Arnie Palmer. Now that’s a drink most Minnesotan’s will recognize. When we add vodka to one, we call it a “John Daly,” after a more alcohol-loving golfer.
Hi Steve, hooked on the channel, can you help with one thing, I want to order some glasses but don’t know what size to get, coupes for example, help! 😬
Hi! so good to hear you are enjoying the channel! We normally use a coupe that is 163 mls (5.4 oz) and find this is usually a perfect fit for most drinks. There are larger coupes and martinis available which are quite beautiful but your drink may not fill to the brim with the normal recipe measurement
I will definitely be trying my hands at the boozy Arnold Palmer. I love the Non-alcoholic Arnold Palmer, especially in the Summer. Will also be making the Gimlet!!
