Great video, just a suggestion, why not break up into 6 episodes, find the best driver from each year, then, have a final to produce a winner, that way every club is tested and you get a lot of content. Keep up the great work

I have the Razr Fit driver and was considering taking the jump up to the Epic, however after seeing this and actually testing the club myself, I have to say that I might just keep hold of it for a year or two longer! It would be great to see a comparison between best old Callaway, vs newer Taylormade/Cobra/Ping and vice versa. Great video as always Rick!

Hi Rick. I have the XR16. Love it hit a drive the other day 332 yards with it and often find myself hitting 290-310 yards. Made me change to the XR Pro irons and again the difference in length from my Nike's is amazing. Love the XR range

Hello Rick and the rest of the community i work at a major golf retailer in Canada and while this test is interesting the fact remains that the new technology is aimed at creating a larger spot in which you can achieve the maximum efficiency rating (currently 1.50). Golf governing bodies will not allow clubs to exceed this limit if we had a player less talented at consistently connecting with the ideal impact location, we would see vastly different results. There are some clubs that fit more players than others but ultimately you have to find a club that suits you best

Great video! I would say that the best driver from the entire test was the 2016 Callaway XR16. If you look at the data, the average numbers are pretty decent, but further inspection at the chart reveals that they were the most consistent because they show the lowest standard deviation. For example backspin: an the average between the XR16 and the Epic is pretty similar, but the standard deviation in the 2016 model is half of the 2017. That means that more shots were around that average in the 2016 model than in the others, given that most shots were hit consistently in the middle of the face. I think that you should do this test with Taylormade drivers as well and include standard deviation in your analysis! Titleist would be interesting, but they have a much longer product cycle.

I absolutely ADORE my 2012 Razr fit - I picked it up second hand after basically giving up on my previous driver and it completely changed the game for me. Phenomenal Club!

I'm a bit of a newbie to golf and just got a used V series for 55 quid with an old trade-in. It's the only driver (so far) that I've picked up and just felt right with, hitting it straight and well. Love it.

Not gonna lie. I play the razr fit and it's hard to find a good review as it's a bit of an older club. I was considering upgrading but was kind of thinking is it really worth it? after seeing this video I'm pretty content to give the old fit a few more seasons. Thanks rick, great video!

Hey Rick I would be really interested to know if these stats stack up with an 'average golfer'. The reason I say that is that as a professional you'll always be more efficient, more consistent than someone off a higher handicap. I would imagine that newer tech actually benefits someone on 18 more than it does for yourself who might see incremental upgrades because of your skill level. Be an interesting comparison to see how the 2012 vs 2017 was for a 18 handicapper.

My favorite driver of all TIME is the PING Answer Driver. I love it!! I have a custom shaft, Answer head, and custom grips and I drive the ball down the line every time!! I tried Taylor Made but I had to much side spin!!

Rick duffed the distance challenge, razor fit was 3rd best with 300 not the v series 2014 driver. Only 6 yards difference in it for 6 years 🙄

First off, I can't believe I didn't see this vid sooner, as I'm an avid watcher of everything you put out. I couldn't sleep and stumbled across this gem. I must say, I was so impressed with your ability to hit the center of the club, a feat that I fail at miserably. You are a true drive artist. Also, you still have the stamina of youth, which kept you swinging consistently throughout. I got the impression that you even surprised yourself with the results. I'm so amazed that these clubs, encompassing over 5 years, were so close in performance. I actually own most of the clubs in the test. Yes, it's time to throw some up on ebay. One club you didn't test ( standard version only) ...that is a true Callaway performer, is the XR16Pro/XrProzero. I find this the best club Callaway has produced bar-none. Thank you for your efforts here Rick.....a very comprehensive test, that did a very good job exposing the fact that, we the consumer don't necessarily need to run out and buy the latest and greatest offering from our favorite manufactures.

Rick- agree with you on the looks of the X-Hot (9.5 stiff stock shaft). I've had it in the bag for a couple years and no reason to take it out- love the setup and performance!

I just started using my old FT Tour driver after 7 years, thanks to this test. I hit it as well of any of the newer models, and it was just as long and straight. Not bright and sexy though. Makes you wonder! Keep up the good work.

Great video! This confirms what I have experienced. Every year I take my Taylormade Aero Burner to the store and compare it to the new models but see no real difference.

A great video. A real eye opener for me being a Calloway fan.

Great video Rick, please do more of these as it just proves that with the face response limits imposed by the PGA it is not worth changing drivers if you are happy with an older model. It's all about confidence after all!

I've got the V Series. As Rick says, a quiet achiever. Gives excellent feedback. I first hit it at a Callaway and Ping demo day. Other drivers might have been slightly longer, but this things was more accurate and consistent.

That was an eye opener Rick. It seems that with all things being equal, drivers have not really made any significant advances over the last 4 or 5 years except for looks and adjustability, which matters little to performance. Thanks for this. It was very enlightening.

I have the Callaway XR 16 pro and I love it. I had a Callaway Razr white before that and didn't really care for it but the XR16 pro will be in the bag for a lot of years!

I have both the V series and the big bertha 815. love the V series as you said it feels great coming off the club head and the ball just flies. The 815 I can't get a feel for since I've had it. Great review. can't to see the next review.

very very good content trying out models from various brands for the past 5 years ... quiet eye opening actually.. hardly any difference in distance and dispersion over 5 years yet the marketing people keep making you thing this is the longest and the straightest driver ever.. and they say it about every model lol!!! thanks for the awareness rick!!

Hey Rick, great test! I have the GBB V Series and has been great for me (chosen based on watching your reviews). Recent adjustments to it has seen me hitting a lot more fairways too! Would be very interested to see you test the TaylorMade or Ping drivers

Great review Rick! I got the Razr Fit in 2013 and still have it in my bag. No desire to try and swap it out either. It is a very long and consistent driver. The weights are an awesome feature. When I got it the setup was 12 in the toe and 2 in the heel. I am a horrible slicer and it I actually felt the club open when I hit the ball with the 12 in the toe. After a year or so I swapped them so the 2 in the toe and the 12 in the heel and have been hitting it so well since. I know people probably think the weights are a gimmick but they actually serve a purpose.

My first driver I dropped any substantial money on was the razr fit. I'm quite amazed at how well it performed up against the newer heads. I did just replace it with the fusion which is a fairway finder but am looking now at the xr 16 pro for the lower spin and more distance. After this test though I may just go back to the fit with a different shaft. This was a very interesting test, thank you.

I think this was a great video that shows real data and gives someone like me that's only been playing for less than two years a better understanding of how these drivers have changed or not changed over the years!! I seen the taylormade test and the callaway drivers beat them head to head on all numbers!!! VERY interesting!! good job Rick and thank you for the video!!
