This is my 1989 Yamaha xt350. I have owned it for 5 years without any issues. It has about 12,000 miles on it and I have put about 4,000 of those on it. I mainly drive it offroad but I take local streets to my trails. It’s a super cheap and reliable dual sport that is California plated. This thing is so fun and has enough Pep to cruise around town and for an old bike it rips on the dirt.

I saw 35 year old one advertised at £2500 the other day. I emailed the vendor and it was already sold. That's how good these bikes are. Lighter than a modern 125 and 30 horse power. Wow.

I had a 2000 model, and I liked it a lot. In city traffic I would walk away from cars without any effort but screaming at 85mph. on the highway. It struck a nice balance between weight and power on most trails. It actually had more power than I needed ... for me, I almost never got out of 2nd gear on tight trails I rode on. A smaller bike would've worked a little better. None the less, it's a nice bike ... Yamaha tuff!

@@saxon1177 definitely a tough bike! And yes definitely a little heavy for some of the tighter trails! Especially the old steel frames! So much fun though! Zip around town and hop on some trails, doesn’t get much better than that!

The XT350 is a great dual-purpose bike. I'm very familiar with them because I owned one, a riding buddy owned one, a cousin of mine owned one, and a brother-in-law of mine owned one. On the 2000 model I owned, I grafted on 1986 IT200S forks, front wheel, front brake system, and triple clamps. I did it because I wanted a stiffer front end but could not find stiffer springs that were the required specs for the XT. Installing the IT200S parts worked very well and gave me the firm feel I wanted.

I have the exact one, same year! Front brake master cylinder just went bad. New part on order. Absolutely love it! New fork seals a couple of years ago. I prefer it over my 2019 Yamaha Tracer 900 GT. 🤠👍

i have one from 92, i have a few videos of it on my channel, biggest problem in the last years are the fuel tanks, they rust super easy, i bought 3 already, they start to rust in the inside and in 2 or 3 years they are useless, i guess the best option on my next tank is to use one of those epoxys tank sealer, its harder and harder to find an used acceptable tank now days
@takiniteasy2337
@takiniteasy2337 7 месяцев назад
Nice! I’ll check your videos out! But oh man! That’s crazy! Mine still has the original tank and the inside is still really clean. But my xt came from Southern California desert so maybe that has something do with the non rusting but yeah a lot of the parts are hard to find. It would be nice to find a desert tank with more fuel capacity but don’t think they make them specifically for these. I’ve heard that tw200 guys put old xt tanks cause they have a gallon or so more capacity. Maybe that’s another reason they are hard to find. But yeah good luck! Tank sealer sounds like a good option for sure!

@@takiniteasy2337 the tank holds 3.1 gallons the XT 350 gets 60 mpg while loaded down with overland supplies tent backpack extra fuel can etc, you do not need a bigger tank.
