Got the white version with grey buttons a week ago and I am really impressed it really feels good and personally I think it even looks good. Love the fact that it is so small. Took it with me to show to friends and every single one is impressed by the quality of such a cheap controller
To make one flatbox yourself really depends on the PCB printing/delivering price, from where I live it's impossible to have the PCB printed for less than 40 dollars, so buying one from ali is the only option sadly
Wow in here with 14 subs congrats on the video. Just a bit of advice though your voice picks up VERY bassy in the play back. You could benefit from post eq if you got the extra time. I dropped everything up to 500hz about 10db and it helped a lot
Thanks for the feedback! I'll definitely try that. I was close to the microphone, and it is a dynamic mic (which tends to be a bit darker, I think?) so that might have added to the bass.
Nice video, just ordered one myself! I have a custom made hitbox but I found it so big and I dislike playing with it on my lap so this I wanted to get a mini one. Unfortunately the mini ones are very pricey and mostly sold out so it nice to see that these cheaper alternatives are decent for the price. I just have some questions, is it easy to setup on pc ? Also, is there any websites you can use to get custom art for this specific dimensions ? Thanks again, enjoyed the video
Thank for watching! Glad you enjoyed the video. I'm in the same situation, I have a custom hitbox and wanted something smaller. Yes, it is very easy to set up on PC. Literally just plug and play. About the art, you can probably find a "Flatbox V4" template for the art. Or find some that people made on forums or reddit. Any Flatbox V4 art or template should work.
@heartmoor9184 reviews seem really promising just make sure to order one of them with 100+ orders and pictures. No reason to be suspicious if 100's other customers have got there's. I went for the sky2040plus but they're all pretty similar
@@heartmoor9184 i have the haute42 g16 and its awesome. The build is super high quality the software has a lot of functionality/customization when I comes to things like LEDS, SOCD and basically anything else I heard there are some issues with PS5 suppoer but I play on PC so I cant say there but overall I love it. Also the switches come prelubed and are very high quality initially I was gonna replace then but after trying it out I actually kept the original switches in there. I have no idea how this thing costs 50$ tbh def worth the money
Hello I'm planning to buy one, I mainly play on PS4 and PC. My question is, is it plug and play on both of the platforms? Or do i still need to do some minor tweaking ? Thank you
Hey! In PC, yes, it is plug and play and very easy to use. For PS4, there's an 8 minute timeout that can be remove with some tweaking. Basically you have to add a file that "tricks" the PS4 in to thinking it is an official controller. This file is easily found on reddit and other websites, just search "GP2040 CE remove timeout". GP2040 CE is the firmware that this controller has (firmware that many other controllers use), so any tricks or things that you find that work on any GP2040 CE, will work on this specific controller too.
I'd snag it for the 10 ish bucks more for sure, definitely makes the difference in asthetic and for this price range, just got mine in the mail a week ago after looking at this video, it goes a LONG way! 😁🤙❤️
It's the method of the controller to handle opposing inputs. For example, if you press Left and Right at the same time, you would get neutral in the game. Same goes for Up and Down. There are other methods like Down + Up = Up but that one is not allowed in SF6 tournaments.
Sorry for taking this long to reply. You have to press and hold what would be the B button before plugging it in, if I'm not mistaken that would be the second button from the bottom row (from left to right). I can't post any links on the comments but you can search something like "GP2040 Change Input Mode" and you will find the buttons. It is pretty simple though, you can do trial and error with different buttons if it's not the one that I mentioned.
My hands are around 20/10 cm, and it is comfortable. I could use a bit more space for my pinky, though, but I didn't feel pain or anything after playing for a while.
@@newphonewhodis7152 Nice! I really liked the hitbox layout when I tried it too. I've never had any consoles so playing on a gamepad wasn't for me. Also never got to play in an arcade machine in my childhood, so fightsticks felt weird too haha. If you feel that it is small there are some extensions that people 3D print for the flatbox that make it look like the snackbox XL, so more space at the sides. Just not as pretty as the Snackbox XL, but functional.
I don't think there are specific "quiet" Kailh Low Profile Switches but you can get linear switches instead of clicky switches, and they will be a lot more silent.
i got a FightingBox GamePad Pro LED Chun Li ed. for 33chf/$ just today :D (now it's 42~chf/$) worth every pennies for a GP2040-CE device (most hilarious, i took the 12 Cherry MX Silver switches, which cost 12chf/$ a 10 where i live ... basically 12 of them would cost 14.40chf/$ out of the 33chf i paid for the whole thing :D and i prefer full height switches, the MX Silver are leagues above any low profiles, even the Kailh Choc which are quite impressive for low profile switches) so, nah 57/50$ is not the cheapest now ;) (might have been 6 month ago tho ... ) but with such offers ... i wonder who's foolish enough to buy a Razer Kitsune for 250chf/$ (397chf/$ for the Chun Li edition)
I think a few days or weeks after the video the Haute boards started getting popular and it stopped being the cheapest option. But it is really good that the GP2040 opened the possibility of these boards, the prices of the "brand" ones started getting ridiculous, specially for people just starting out and wanting something cheap (Or people like that just don't want to spend that much haha). Glad you are enjoying your board! Interesting info about the switches also.
It doesn't work at all? Should be plug and play. If what is happening is that you have a different button layout, just hold what would be the B button (I think that should be the light kick) for X input before plugging it in
@yogurtdecoco alright I got it set up but the buttons are totally weird, the movement is on the top buttons and the punches are on the left side and the right side are mostly nothing. I don't know how to change them
Yep! Buttons are very easy to swap, it is on the video. Case can be swapped too, you just need to take out some screws and you get access to the PCB. Any V4 Flatbox case or buttons should work.
does anybody know how to connect it to ps3/ps4? it works fine with pc, i just want to try it on my consoles but nothing seems to work. both ps3 and ps4 see it as an unknown device
I believe you have to be holding what would be the X button *before* plugging it in for the PS3 and what would be Y for PS4. That changes the input mode. Although for PS4 there's the 8 minute timeout that you can remove with a file, don't know much about it but you can search more on reddit in the GP2040 subrreddit. The GP2040 is the firmware that this controller has, so any solution or trick that you find for that firmware will work on this controller
@@kingmacaron7995 No problem! It works on PS4 but it has an 8 minute timeout. You can add a file to the controller to remove that timeout, but I haven't done it so I don't know the process. From what I've read, it is pretty easy though. Basically you have to load a file from a compatible controller (Like any DS4) into it using a software. There should be more info in the GP2040 Discord or Reddit
I believe it works on some games, if you have it configured like a PS4 controller and with the proper file that removes the 8 minute time-out. Or you can just get an adapter, like the Wingman FGC and it will be plug and play for fighting games.
