7 years on and this video helped me fix my 100cc atv no more slipping when i try to start it and saved myself £65 by watching this, great advice thanks man!
Hey dude I’ve said this before but your video really do help a lot, you explain things in plain English & in depth, I am mechanically minded but you’ve helped me more than you will ever know with your videos. 👍
+Shark S You should be able to find something at a hardware store like Ace or a local Mom & Pop place that would work. The start shaft should be about 15mm OD or a little under 5/8".
90GTVert Hi Thank you for all your work and video very helpful I have a scooter propel delray I can’t find the drive belt for it Could you be very kind and help me Model 139QMB MD50QT-11 Engine CSJMCO.05R22 Thank you
Those splines don’t like to be hammered on. Sometimes the lever is not going on because the threads aren’t lined up just right and then a hammer will damage the splines. Better to wedge open the kick lever just a tiny bit with a slotted screwdriver. Then it will slide on easy with the grooves aligned. Anytime you go to use a hammer stop and think - there’s almost always a better tool for the job
True, but to be fair I tapped it on. I do often wedge a screwdriver in there and slip them on now, 9 years later, but what I did here wouldn't worry me. Hammering would.
Hi, Can you tell whats the problem... If i press kickstart slowly down it goes smoothly down but if i press it fast the kickstart ctv and the axel gets stuck. Its like hte Ctv dont go all the way down? I have pressed it hard as i can but it still looks like it isnt all the way down. Do you know the problem?
You have to inspect it. It could be as simple as something that needs cleaning and grease. Could be that it's jamming up when kicked hard from possibly traveling a little farther than it should. I used to set my kick levers so they angled up, thinking it was easy to get a good kick. Turns out, that can be bad because you can put too much pressure on everything at potentially break stuff. Could be a gear issue. There is often a weld on teeth that can act as a stop. That's OK, but it's possible that it's placement is off a little. Check vs another one if possible.
Help me.I was kick starting my scooter and suddenly it started to make noise and then I started him with electric start and the kick starter also made noise and when I touch the kick starter it start to make really big noise like krrrrrrrk but very loud. What to do can u help me ?
If there is excessive play, you can use a thicker washer and see if that's all it needs. If it the shaft can wobble in the bushing, then the shaft or bushing may need to be replaced.
Hey I've been looking for someone to work on one these and know about scooters I want to put one of these Eton on a scooter are they worth it or nah lol.its the 90cc one
So you wanna swap a 90cc ATV engine in place of the 49cc scoot engine? I've done that. They can be good engines, but it depends what you want. The 90cc stuff is good for making nice power while being a bit more mild mannered. If you want something race-oriented, it's easier to build something based on the 49cc generally. There are strong running 90cc setups, but lots of strong 70s and such as well that are easier to come by. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/999/90cc-minarelli-engine-swap-info
2 weeks of wrestling with this kickstart spring mechanism and I found out that I was trying to clip the spring onto the wrong part of the gear. I watched this, and in 8min got it assembled and ready to go. Thank you!
Thanks so much,we were just given an old two stroke 50cc wheeler and I had no idea after I pulled that off and it fell apart.now I got this w your help.
hello, when pulling the spring, it shifts to the right side, I align it with a screwdriver and it flies off. This may be due to fatigue of the metal of the spring, or I am doing something wrong
The springs always try to go a little off course for me as well. A firm grip with vise grips should let you keep it where you want it till it's locked in better. Get everything basically in place and push on the gear to help retain it all before adjusting the spring and see if that helps.
Thanks, just replaced the kicker on a Kymco Agility 50. Hardest part was getting that snap ring on and off. I didn't have one of those tools. After 3 years of kicking (started died in summer 2018), there were almost no teeth left on the spindle. Note though: it took me a while to get the last piece on. I didn't realize the teeth on the spindle are missing a few on beginning and you have to go past that to seat it correctly. That was a 15 minute head banger for me.
I no this is old but if anyone can shed some light for me it would be much appreciated. I have a 110cc quad automatic and the electric start is completely gone. Is there anyway to add a kick start to it. It’s a long shot but hopefully someone can help me.
If it's a Minarelli engine like the one I'm working on in the video, then you should be able to install what's shown. If it's another type of engine, you're best bet is to look for variations of it that have kickstart and see if there's a bolt on option from other models.
@@SaaV93 If it's the pitbike style of engine, you can buy whole engines pretty cheap for those and many have kickstart. I wonder if there is sufficient clearance for the kickstart though. Look up 110cc pitbike engines. Repairing the e-start may be the way to go, depending how bad the problem is. Could just be a starter, which shouldn't be very expensive either.
great help, my brothers, friend's 100cc stop working suddenly. Blew a gas line, and I fear that the piston might have something blocking it from moving back down, took cvt off, im a car guy so I only thought that the drive belt broke
I have a 2001 artic cat dvx 90 name brand with this set up and i couldn't finda any videos on replacing the kicker thanks it helped alot and explained everything perfectly
This is the easiest way for me. I haven't found a better way to do it. It may take a few tries and the vise grips need to be tight or it will slip before you get there.
Thanks, I just got my son a brand new Outlaw 50 and I wanted to see how to get that kickstart off that way my son won't accidentally step on it on the bike is running.
Hello i wonder if you could help me i recently have taken my cvt cover of and had a look inside for signs of wear and to replace the belt, whilst checking the clutch i noticed i could pull it backwards and forwards is this normal? also my cvt belt is not level to the variator fan, do you have any suggestions, thanks
Thanks for your quick reply i may have to look into it as it dosent seem correct, and what i mean about the belt lining up, is that if i was to put a new belt on it would not be straight the part which connects near the variator would be slightly to the left and off centre
Thanks very much for your help, i will be doing this when the motor goes back in my scooter, how has the cvt belt worked efficiently whilst its been that fat stuck out?
Top vou faser na minha comprei resolvi abrir o encacho ta no buraco redondo todo errado valeu agora com seu vidio vai ficar srtinho agora valeu espirito santo
It's not the easiest job ever, but once used to it, it's not awful. If it is so tough that it seems to be impossible, maybe inspect the parts and make sure they are alright and also correct for the application. I have ordered springs before allegedly for a scoot and then what shows up is similar, but not the same.
Hahaha. That's how I felt the first time I tried one without knowing what to do. Watch the vid again. Do it as shown. That's as easy as it's gonna get from my experience. After you do it once or twice that way, you won't hate it so much. Will probably never be your favorite thing to do.
Have another problem now. Hopefully you can help! Went back together, I did take it back off to check what it could be im unsure though. Theres a rattle coming from insude the clutch housing. I think its that small gear that insets at the end. Just not making sense. Any ideas?
Nicely done my brothrt ! I was opposed to adding Gy6 turbo kit on my 150cc 4stroke ! I heard bad things . Hope you can talk me out of off the big job 🌟👊🔥🔥
Off topic. Just wanted to ask when changing the starter reduction gear in a 1e40qmb scooter, do you need to grease/lube it? Or does it work without any?
Lately my scooter's kickstarter sometimes doesn't quite pop back after being kicked. This starts to happen now more often and gives me problems starting my scoot. Is this just the spring issue or could be something else at fault?
Could be a worn out spring or it could be as simple as parts getting gunked up with belt dust and grime and not working. The gear that rides on the pin on the CVT cover has done this for me when it gets covered in crud.
You're right. It will create too much play without the washer. That can allow the assembly to move inward and even contact the moving parts when the engine is running in some cases. If you don't want to buy a replacement part made specifically for it, you may be able to find something that will work in a hardware store.
@@49ccscoot thank you yea when I turn it the shaft just comes out alittle and I have another piece I don't know what it is it goes on the shaft has 3 corner like a triangle and it feels like it goes on top of the pinon shaft
Just a washer. Nothing special in it's design aside from perhaps it's dimensions (standard washers prob aren't going to fit because they're generally too thick to allow the snap ring to be used. Or are you looking for dimensions?
If the noise is constant, something may be wrong with the spacing and it could be hitting a part that it's not supposed to contact till it engages. Sometimes dirty parts will hang up and cause this. A good cleaning and regreasing may be all that's needed. Inspect all parts for damage.
As long as you've got good vise grips that aren't going to let go, it's pretty easy for me this way. There's a specialty tool for some, like Piaggio 49cc 2-strokes, but I don't think there are for these Minarelli engines.
@@everythingbro4786 Check the tool out then. I showed it in one of my RC-One assembly vids. Got it at Scooter West IIRC. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dBDql9KbNTA.html
I usually grease the pin that the small gear rides on and the bushing/shaft going through the cover. Both somewhat sparingly, because I don't want grease to end up in the CVT.
Just hard to install? Watch the vid or watch it again. The technique shown is the best that I know of. You can find other ways to wind it, but this is the way I prefer by far. Some other things I've done make it feel much tougher to pull.
I get the error "page not found." I live in Norway, Europe. Maybe that could be the case? I really need the kickstart, and i can't find anything online :(
The two links were close and it seemed to merge them so I edited it. They may work for you now. I thought parts would be easy for you to find over there.
Rebuilded the whole engine but at the kickstart mechanism i was scratching my head more than a hour. Got very frustrated because i knew it is simple but couldnt figure it out.
