Once you get used to crossing your eyes to look at these, it's hard to tell whether or not you're actually crosseyed because it feels so natural and relaxed.
@heythere2366
@heythere2366 Год назад
Agreed! The only way I could tell I was cross-eyed while looking at the photos was by occasionally seeing the watermark in the lower right hand corner of the screen and seeing two of them when I knew there was only one.

You do NOT cross your eyes. You look "through" the video and put your eyes parallel. The exact opposite of crossing.
@Jordan-vz7kt
@Jordan-vz7kt Год назад
Lol, you're not crossing your eyes you just trained your brain to images from each eye. We have two eyes so there are to images hope that makes sense

I can see these in 2 ways. One when they "pop out", and one when they are negative image of that (parallel VS crosseyed basically; these were made with parallel in mind). Crosseyed (negative) is waay sharper for me and I can look around freely without losing the image. And it's also very easy and reliable, though the parallel is better overall.
@GYTCommnts
@GYTCommnts Год назад
🤔 Interesting... For some reason (I think is "distance"), I can only see them in "negative" on my TV hanging on the wall, with a very sharp effect, as being at the 3D cinema, and "normally" on my cellphone, as if the screen has depth vs "popping out" from the TV.

I wonder if this has to do with our eye shapes, astigmatism or simply because we see near things more often than far away thing, for me is hard to make them pop out but seeing the concave ones is easy.

@@Sun_Simpthat is actually interesting, it only took me a few minutes to get the “popping out” parallel one the first time i saw a stereogram, but i only learned about the crosseye method after reading this comment and it took me a while to get.

I remember the first time these came to the malls and eveyobe stood around staring and being amazed. Most could not see them and were disappointed. I was only like 13. I have always been able to see these very quickly and easily. I even got a program back in the day, on good old floppy disc, to do my own programs of them. hey cool, I've never tried looking at these on a phone screen before. it's like an injection from the 90s! interestingly though around the 1:08 minute mark, there's a pink one and i lost that ability to defocus my gaze slightly in the way you have to do, and it just became a flat looking pattern again..i remember feeling so hopeful about the possibilities of life when these came out, so i feel like that has to be 1991 or something, when things like a book store in a department store in a mall still seemed quite fancy, and the perfume and makeup section (as a girl) compelling and glamorous. Just seems like suuuuuch a different world. Looking at these images is like when you smell a fragrance and it reminds you of a place and time. For me this os like Rundle Mall in Adelaide, Australia in the early 90s. And associated with things like the Body Shop sandalwood and fuzzy peach perfumes and those little boho/hippie stores that sell Indian style clothing and incense, jewellery and knick knacks. Massive hit of nostalgia. i feel lucky now that i got yo experience that and didn't grow up with smart phones, the internet and social media. Before they happened, things like this seemed positively cyberpunky, haha. And i remember being bright eyed about the idea of VR around this time, although admittedly this is partly because things could be very dull. But now it's an actual thing, I don't wanna know.. Technology just seems so dystopian now, all that brightly coloured 90s hopefulness evoked by these images seems to have died a terrible death. it's quite bittersweet to revisit edit: after all that waffle, and trying to regain the right eye focus, i remembered i don't actually know even like 20 years later how these actually produce that optical illusion.

my main problem in seeing these stereograms is that they do not protrude out but rather look like layered hollows. I see the edges of these hollow shapes and may only guess the real features of the drawing objects. Why the cavities instead of raised objects? I may guess it's just the image analyzing feature of my brain. (here is playing "Scorpions" "i'm going mad" theme)

@gildg7806
@gildg7806 Год назад
There is 2 ways of viewing these parallel view or cross eyed these are designed to be viewed with parallel view for the intended effect your viewing them using cross eye 3d method you get a 3d effect but it's not the Intended effect. You get what you call cavities instead of the raised 3d sculptures gotta learn to see them in parallel view to see these properly one weird quirk of cross viewing these is you can actually touch the 3d imagery and your finger wont hit the screen for quite a distance you can't do that in parallel view your finger hits the screen before you can touch the images so try the finger test to figure if your viewing these in parallel view or cross eye.

FINALLY ... after years of trying I finally can see it! I had not even read the posts but crossed my eyes and as I was straightening my sight back slowly the image appeared in 3 D. I can't make out what it is though. It just looks like depressions. I have no idea what the "parallel" method is. Can someone advise me how to achieve it?
@mosaiccreator
@mosaiccreator 4 месяца назад
These stereograms are not cross view, they are parallel view. It means that you focus behind display. Since these stereograms are ultra-sharp, there are many people who have seen stereograms for the first time even without special training.

For me I hold my phone really close to my face like 2-5 inches away. Then I turn my head to the left (I think this works best for me because I think the right eye is dominant for me) then I unfocus until it works 3d. Once you actually hit it, don't move your eyes for a while or you will lose it immediately, let your muscles adjust before you try to look around the image (or just move your phone)
@DATo_DATonian
@DATo_DATonian 2 месяца назад
@@ChevelleAmarantheTool I'm not sure if I'm seeing what I'm supposed to be seeing. It looks to me like the 3D effect is making cavities in the picture (depressions). For instance. in the second picture - the purple one - I see what looks like three squares or cubes overlapping each other and stacked diagonally from upper left (largest cube) to lower right (smallest cube), but they look like they are carved INTO the picture and not protruding toward me ... is this what you see? I feel like my ability to open a stereogram book and see everything just by looking at it makes it hard for me to remember that not everyone can see these especially if you have issues with color for me tho i locked in on the first one and never had to readjust idk why its so easy for me to see them but it is dont have to bring it to my face and pull away my eyes just automatically adjust without trying
@terryriley6410
@terryriley6410 Год назад
By principle, viewing stereograms have little to do with color perception so colorblind people can see them just as well (unless the background image used has colors they can't differentiate). The background images (the horizontally repeating pattern base that anyone can see) can be of any color, the illusion is created by shifting certain pixels left or right depending on the depth you want them to show, so it is more about position than color. Although they mostly make these on colorful background, the 3D effect works just as well using grayscale images. When we focus on something our eyes do two things: First, they change their shape slightly so that the lens that is the front of your eye focuses on the object (it flattens for distant objects and gets thicker the closer something is) Second, each eye rotates so it points towards the object. If you imagine a laser coming out of your eyes, their lines would cross each other right where the object is: Looking at something close will make the lasers go like this >< and as you look into the distance they straighten out like this /\ Normally our brain learns to do both of these things at the same time as we look at stuff but with a bit of training we can learn to control them separately. When you look at autosteregrams, you still do the first thing (focusing the lens of your eye) so that the image is crisp, but you do the second thing differently by making the lasers cross somewhere behind the actual image you are looking at. You can also do it the other way around where the lasers cross in front of the image (this will result in an inverted 3D illusion and bit more eyestrain). I guess the technique of bringing the image close helps people to look into the distance as looking at something so close is impossible (or at least uncomfortable) so it is easier to take control of the autopilot of the brain.

Another method to see 3d picture. Use an iPad or tablet for better viewing. Hold iPad about 1 foot away. See your shadow/image through the iPad when the picture is on. Try to look at your nose for some time, which of course will not be visible, suddenly you will see the 3d image. Try, I am sure you will succeed.

For those who can't quite get it: Cross your eyes and then converge the two blurry visions to make one blurry image. Then distance or approach the screen a little until you see a sort of imprint silhouette. Then sharpen your vision and you get your sharp images for these illusions! Don't move away from the point you're staring at since it works for the whole video duration. And move your eye muscles as little as possible because any sudden movement can remove the illusion.

Ive tried everything to make these work ive tried putting my face close to my phone and pulling away ive tried the 'look at something far away, and then move your phone infront of your face' method, I've tried crossing my eyes until the image lines up, and i can't do it, does anyone have any other advice they think could work

These are typical and somewhat boring stereograms. These are pretty much all you can find anymore. Whatever happened to the nicer stereograms with multiple objects that created an awesome scene, like an ocean scene with whales, orcas, dolphins, and sharks? I bought a large stereogram poster that was absolutely beautiful. It had a sunken pirate ship on the edge of a cliff in the background with a couple of hammerhead sharks swimming around above it, a treasure chest on another cliff in the foreground near the bottom of the scene, and a great white shark with its mouth open coming toward the viewer, and a few other fish here and there. The poster was starting to tear after a couple of toddlers got a hold of it, so I gave it to an art professor. I have not been able to find anything like it since. Does anyone know where I can find stereogram scenes like that?

Stereograms allow you to see in front or beyond the screen, check this out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-v8O8Em_RPNg.html

I mean, yes, and no ... Technically, all Stereograms are going to be shaped like something. However, if you kept going past the first few geometrics, there were pictorials as well. There were sets of horses, seashells and some people in there, too.

@@ilgizyamaev7390 I wasn't really helpful last time for some reason, there's a free software called GIMP and what you do is make an image to be "seamless" so that the end becomes the same as the beginning of the image so it looks nice when it is repeated as a pattern Here's a link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qAXRDfDaJMk.html When he makes the image to repeat it is done, but later he shows a more advanced or complicated way to do it. Then you can use online tools without any downloading to make a stereogram (like in this video), just type "online stereogram" and a bunch will show up Yeah, stereograms really twisted my mind the last couple of days, but when you learn how they work it all becomes simple (I think that's why I posted the previous link). Now I know how to make even animated once with Blender, a free general purpose 2d and 3d graphics software that really became popular in the last couple of mounts and I hope this helps ✌
