As I am listening to this, I was basically thinking the same thing. Especially, when you recognize the success he has had with his music career and the Power series, which is visually taking him to an almost Scorsese level when it comes to the documentation of so called Black gangsterism. And I love this song, but he sounded the death knell to the game to catapult himself. He can talk about giving all the flowers he wants. We don't speak on people who are still in the streets. We hold ourselves to a higher standard. Hey, but I don't knock anyone's hustle. Peace to him, the team, the whole Southside, BK, my home and the whole entire nyc, SI, Uptown, the Boogie Down. May we all rise above this current madness. Peace to the God's and earths and especially the babies for they are our future. One.
Wanna know how impactful 50 was to rap? Jay-z walked into rockafella studio and told them all “ put out as much music as possible 50 cent is coming “ then in da club came and EVERY rapper had to ride that wave out, 50 covered it all for years nothing could float above it, I wonder how many rappers never got heard cause of it
Jay played it smooth ... If a new guy is coming and has skills ... Stay relevant and put out music so you are on the chart, radio, and in people's ear ... They didn't listen tho ...
Nope that is not how the story goes sir u embellishing a little bit what jay said was “ it is a drought on music right now y’all need to put out as much music as u can before the next hot thing comes out .” Then boom 50 takes the world by storm
It’s because he was hungry. He was starving. Living at the bottom and all he could do was go up from where he was. This is also the same for so many other artists regardless of genre; when you got nothing and you starving then your music tends to show that hunger and desperation but once success kicks in the content changes and no one really buys into their grrrr I’m angry stuff anymore (like people stopped buying into Eminem’s anger after he sold 100million records and he started trying new ideas).
But he's a snitch and a police informant!!! He's a hater as well,he would've never blown up without spoiling ja rules career,he always pick on people he can pushover and are easy targets(like ja rule)who was RnB rapper(not even as gangster 50 tried to make him out of,cmon man)fuck 50 aka 5-0 officer hahaha cuuuuuurtis. Cameron dissed him and bodied him(on cuuuuuurtis)why didn't 50 go after Cameron as he did with ja rule!!!(maybe after all,he didn't see any point in that, and didn't want to jeopardize his own career, which he worked so hard for in expense of ja rule(hahaha)fuck 50 cent he only won that beef against ja rule in contest(lyrical and flow skills)as for real beef,50 was straight shook of murder Inc,they had him roll with security every where he went and performed a show, and on few occasions rolled up on him unexpectedly, which resulted in him getting beaten and stabbed(he's a pussy)he looks hard and gangster, however,he's not about shootouts(why do you think he got shot nine times, and didn't even shoot back once to save his ass, luckily,God was on his side,is a shame it wasn't his time to go,I probably would've liked his ass gone though, but God had other plans for him, still awaiting for what else God had planned for him to happen to him, can't wait for him to get shot up again and be done with once and for all. This is the kinda rap I wanna listen too, always loved this mixtape 🔥 50 cent has some serious classics, new rappers nowadays could really really learn something from this
He had the greatest debut album in the history of hip hop. GRODT. You knew something special was going to happen based off those G-Unit mix tapes and "Ghetto Quran " off of the album Power of a Dollar". 50 changed the game in '03' and left his mark on hip hop culture.
I just hate how some people think this is a snitch song it's not it's stuff that people do in the neighborhood he's just speaking the truth that everybody already knows people really need to listen to lyrics
@Apollo Spade I thought it was over this song that originally came out on his first album Power of a Dollar because he was name dropping actual gangsters and their crimes
He was just paying homage to the OGs . But It’s the song that got him shot, still a classic tho. Old school fif is and will always be my favorite rapper of all time.
