Before 50 got on everybody in my school was passing around his Mixtapes like candy. All these songs were always in circulation before Get Rich or Die Trying
Nope 50 was perfect the way he came out. Didn’t get too lyrical and told a story so perfectly without being complicated and was easy to listen to. A lot of guys can’t relax in their hungry days and trying to be as lyrical as they can

Rap won't get any better. This was peak times. 50, Em, Dre, Snoop, Cube, Xzibit, Outkast, Obie, Jay, Ye, DMX, BTH, Jadakiss, Biggie, Pac, Wu all got radio. There's so many more. Peak
What are you talkin about? This shit been released. I used to have this. Shit I herd of 50 from the "guess who's bacc" mixtape, that was in the f.y.e. store before he even signed to Shady. Few months later I'm chillin at my homies & the wangster video come on. I'm like yo I no that dude I got a cd from him. Shit was crayzie after he blew up the way he did.

Played this through school, 14/15/16 years of age and still listening to it now at 31 years old, I come back to this album every now and then, this album is a masterpiece
I’m from Scotland found this when I was 16 after listening to the good die young I’m 22 now, don’t understand how many people I’ve actually told about this that were clueless nobody has heard this here really
@@BallsRthrobbing love Scotland!, travel alot in my camper and its a favourite place to go, beautiful scenery,, very welcoming and the people are ace 🤜🏻🤛🏻

It’s crazy bc 50 cents pre gunshot music wasn’t experimented enough it’s really good the gunshots changed him mentally and physically his music isn’t the same like this
@B1Chronixx of course but before he got shot he had such little music to work with to this day the only extended discography we know of is 24 shots, power of the dollar, and a little other stuff but not much else
@@nocturnalgamer8285 yeah but it was only good due to high production costs and features, it’s worse lyrically and flow wise than this, before he got shot 50 was a very skilled emcee he slowed down way too much after
It’s a shame 50 lost this quick flow after he got shot, he showed great skill with his delivery on this album this truly was his prime. You can definitely hear Jay-Z, Mase & Dmx’s influence in these tracks too, CLASSIC.
Wat you mean 50 getting shot and still rapping braught more pain to his lyrics you guys just want him to sound like jay z or dmx thats wack has there ever been a rapper no one disses on just cuz they dont like the new anymore?? Wake up oh nvm snoop made it and everything he made was fire lol
@@miguelchiquette1970 shut up dumbass. They were saying they hear an influence in it. Not that he has to sound like such. You simple minded niggas are SO WEIRD.
@@micmorgan84 the songs were done before the deal was finalized. 50 spoke about this, he had all of these songs recorded in 2 weeks with trackmasterz & nore, etc so when columbia signed him, they just took the songs & power of the dollar was born.

I now understand why 50 doesn't fuck with the industry like that, they really tried to black ball that man. If this was anyone else it'd would be considered a top 10 classic all time album....
@@zgsfreaky9102 I don't like him as a person but if he would have been shot, he would be known as the best. Pac and Biggie weren't all that and would have bombed in time.
They thought the gangster rap was a game and a means of making money until they paid with their lifes...50 knew the consequences of getting personal and calling names on tracks and still done what he wanted...goat gangster rapper for me 💪 Lyricism and hooks are up there with the best also lol
It’s crazy you can’t even find this on Apple Music, the last time I heard this album was on a physical mixtape and I seriously forgot how hard this shit was. 💯
It's not on ITunes and Co because it never was officially released. Maybe Columbia will it release on day or someone will buy the rights. I love to have a official released vinyl of this album
50 Cent is so damn underrated. Ppl always tryna talk shit sayin his catalogue ain't big enough to be considered as the GOAT n shit acting like dis man ain't got 2 DIAMOND albums and his mixtapes are legendary. He's definitely in the top 10 of all time AT LEAST ❗❗
This was so raw when it hit the streets. 50 cent is the only one in hip hop history who was selling out concerts and big venues without an album. 50 cent was also making 5 dollars on every mixtape he sold, at the same time Get rich die trying came out. No one ever made 5 dollars on each unit sold. 50 cent, G-unit, shady records, and aftermath will forever be the biggest movement in Hip hop history. Salute Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent. Support 100.
This should get as much praise as Reasonable doubt, this album, his first two albums w shady. And his mixtapes all classics man 50 don't get his just due w the bar work man
The Good die young is still my FAVORITE 50 cent song. I remember i first heard it on a snippet for this album. Didn't even hear the whole song at first, but knew it KNOCKED!
Omfg I remember downloading I’m a Hustler off Limewire or Kazaaa I can’t remember . I loved that song , played the shit out of it. Grew up on 50 . EM and Fif. 🐐the music I grew up on. Great memories .
@@Benjamin-199 I don't mean like that. The mixtape game helped him alot, but what I mean is the same a D Block. No commerical hits because he ran out of music. 50 was dropping 80 songs a month crzy
This where that sad old greed comes in, This mixtape is one of the main things why 50 had so much hype around his name. Lot of the street people still say this is his best ever works. Why he have to make bread off it. He was showcasing how talented and authentic he is. Lot of street people didnt even start to rap for money they just wanted to rap
@@shadychris3402 It wasn’t about greed it’s about long jeopardy like Jay Z. Artist 50 cent, Dipset, Tpain had a strong mix tape game and chase the bag so they careers as rap artist fell short. Not saying they not great artist it’s making life time music. They used everything they had in a 5 year run.
50 invented that gangster rap blended with r and b he created a genre of his own. Man these old New York mixtapes , the raw beats and old school flows hit different. Thanks for posting
I don't know if this is one of the best rap albums of all time, but it's definitely one of the ones I play the most. I love this shit from top to bottom lmao
I bought The Massacre when I was 9-10 years old and the flow and this sound was my world as a young boy... he was a King and a Legend together with Eminem and I think they are forever Legends for me... :-)))
How was this dude held mostly in New York. His delivery is unapologeticly sicc & always smoothly layed down. Lyrics being structured flawless and hooks always relevant and catchy. Easy to comprehend. "According to the DA, I sold dope in VA My crew stay in New York but the plates say v-eight I can show you where I live, it ain't hard ta find me Let me get another brick, n another on consignment" Just filthy and flawless! Undergrounders have known for awhile and the mass Exodus of information wealth tends to involve many more to the poster board and Bible's study like lessons of what a superstar MC should be like in Eve way. Our last one was The Game. But whatever happens happens and he's nowhere near as thought of as budding superstar. Yet he's continuing some brilliant work in and of. He's still got one of my top 10 albums from 2000- now
thats cause it was his first album. produced by Tone and Poke. AKA TRACKMASTERS. Columbia shelved it though. but this was supposed to be his first album. 1999.
Thanx for the upload. This and his Guess Who's Back mixtape (which had a few of these songs on it) were an inspiration to me in the early 2000s. I even made a demo song paying homage to this era of 50's music...!
Definitely at his most hungry in music. It's a pretty safe album but he managed to make it extremely high quality which got him a lot of attention so he could eventually focus on making great hooks for radio. Love the Get Rich and Massacre era but this tape is a masterclass from studying his inspirations.
It's his best bar work and his hungriest but GRODT is his prime. Prime is that point where they're past the point of being hungry, making their biggest hits and haven't fallen off yet.
For an underground artist, getting bun b and destiny’s child on your album is actually a great achievement. Even further, they should’ve really released this album
@@australium7374 Early 50 truly just seemed like a student of hip-hop; I can see how UGK was interested. Yeah it's a shame I can't listen to this on Spotify even now.

Classic. “I’m a Hustla” is one of my favorite songs ever. I remember a while ago on RU-vid someone was making compilation videos to accompany all the songs on here. Shit was hella entertaining
Was banging this album like most of everybody here when we were younger… times were hard then, and recently times have gotten hard as an adult, so I’ve come back to this for motivation! That 50 motivation… Thankyou 50!
