I'm sure they know each other, just they've never been in an outbreak together to excuse them both being in the same game. Claire even knows Barry from way back before their first interaction in Revelations 2.
I'm pretty sure Jill will eventually meet claire One day, if Chris never told Jill about Claire then that's a big issue because I highly doubt that Chris would keep that important detail from jill...
I love Jill, I just wish they had her interact with all the main characters. I love when they all get together. Makes me all warm and fuzzy in-between the feelings of terror.
That's pretty much how resident evil is. A coin, on one side you have Chris, Jill, Rebecca and Albert, on the other side you have Leon, Ada, Claire and Sherry, you can always flip the coin but the two sides will never meet, of course with a few exceptions, Claire and Chris is a given, Leon and Chris, both of REs golden boys had to meet at some point.
Before I really knew anything about Resident Evil, I knew Jill. I’ve always seen her as the main MAIN character of the franchise, so it’s a massive shame she hasn’t been included in any non-remake games for like a decade now.
It kinda bugs me that they didn't even find a model for a new jill to be half asian, I mean i don't have any issue for a new jill model she still looks great but yeah i wish we could see jill to be half asian in the future installments
well see that's all Japanese video game characters. If a video game was made by japanese developers, their characters are always hinted to be of Japanese descent. Even Solid Snake is part Japanese. When you beat the Hunk scenario, you see him inside the helicopter eating tofu. That's so japanese. Americans or anyone else wouldn't do that. They would eat a sandwich or some shit, lolz.
Jill is by far one of my most favorite game character of all time! I’m still Waiting to see what happened to her after re5. I really really really wish to see a new resident evil game with her as protagonist or at last with her in it. A consistent presence at least.
Two things 1. My girlfriend was one of the folks he complains about her outfit being “skanky” in re3. My response has always been, well she was attacked while she was alone in her apartment. No one I know of just casually walks around in their house in a uniform 😂 2. I LOVED!! her hip tap animation too and I use to imitate it alllll the time as a kid!! I’m happy that was mentioned and I wasn’t the only one 😂
People need to get over their insecurities. Next time I want to see a grossly obese male as the main of resident evil as Chris being to fit and buff makes me feel really insecure as a man.
Me too. Jill is one of my favorite characters in all of fiction. I wish she was used more in the series. I always imagine after the kiujiuju incident she stopped aging because of her bonding with the t virus.
"Undermine her character" Sorry but if I can survive 2 zombie outbreaks with a handful of herbs, outrun a huge monster after getting punched by it in the gut, has Wolverine's healing factor everytime I get blown away by explosions or in the "remake"'s case manhandling a big ass railgun that breaks the goddamn ground when fired without being torn apart, then I too will dress however I want.
@Captain Redbeard ''This outfit makes tons of sense'' Lol, no. It really doesn't. I get why Jill's wearing casual attire. But nobody is ''bumming'' around in their home in a tupe top and skirt. That was just for pure fanservice.
So Jill is like a apocalyptic version of Catwoman, just less desire to steal jewelry and play with man's hearts Just more helping people. Sweet also capcom should have Jill collab with Chris and Ethan also Claire since I've never seen them in a game together
I love this new series, what better way to start than with Jill! I'm so glad you mentioned the novel, SD Perry made some great little tidbits about her especially. A few of my favourites are: She was friends with Priscilla and Rebecca McGee, the two child victims of the Arklay attacks, as they were her neighbours and she helped them find their lost dog. She drove a beaten up silver hatchback Before she was in the military, she worked with her father as a cat burglar
She’s the best character in the series in my opinion, I always wondered why she never interacted with most of the other characters, but I’m sure after the trauma that happened to her in RE5 she wanted/deserved a long vacation. Lol I’m ready to see her in RE9... since we are most likely not gonna see her in 8
The perfect character to start 50 interesting facts on! Underappreciated by some but has always been a legend and icon for me! Of course, I have to go with my favorite male character and second favorite character of the series.... Leon!!!
Yay. Some love for Jill Valentine! Hope to.see her return in future RE games/crossing fingers for a Movie (not referring to live action movies ) We miss her!
SD Perry! They had a small portion in the beginning of Re3 Remake during the apartment escape you hear the hiss of a busted gas line before it blows jill out of the door. Definitely that was a tip of the hat to the RE novels. In the novelization of Resident Evil 3 as shown in video the explosion that sends Jill dive rolling out of the apartments was detailed to be caused by a gas leak from a stove in one of the apartments.
Fact 34 is debatable, depending on what your definition of survival horror is but being as Alone in the Dark came out in 1992 and was a big influence on Resident Evil and is considered as one of the earliest survival horror games and you can play as Emily Hartwood in that game, I'd say that Jill is not the earliest female survival horror playable character. Also in Jack in the Dark you play as Grace Saunders, and in Sweet Home which is another early survival horror game there are female characters to control, The Legacy: Realm of Terror, D, Clock Tower, Shiryou Sensen: War of the Dead and its sequel would all be other possible earlier examples.
I’m not just saying this for the sake of the video but I really do mean this Jill is my number 1 favourite resident evil character and she is one of my favourite character of all time easily top 5
I gotta thank you for the RE: Genesis part. I remember playing it on a Boost Razor mobile phone back in the day but forgot about it. That part of the video brought back so many memories. I thought I was never gonna know the name of the game again 😭
Her current voice actress, Nicole Tompkins, is a twitch streamer, and she finally interacted with Claire, Leon and Rebecca in the CGI movie Death Island.
Claire is gonna be in re8 or is capcom making a code Veronica x remake, Claire's voice actress from code Veronica x is gonna voice Claire in a future re game
Renamon 565 probably code Veronica but rumors are floating they are remaking resident evil 4 first. Maybe then code Veronica ..but I can’t see Claire in any future games after resident evil revelations 2 . Seems she finally decided to stay back from the whole head in combat and work with terra save
@@moonmojo7649 my cousin knows people who work for capcom and he told me that the lady who voices Claire in code Veronica x ps2 is coming back to voice possibly claire in a upcoming re game
They’ve never interacted in game but Jill and Claire have met and are friends. She sends her a letter in a Revelations 2 bonus file in regards to Barry, Moira and also even mentions Chris and Piers in it
"Jill was the first female character in a survival horror game." Look up Emily Hartwood - a selectable character in Alone in the Dark (released in 1992).
@@CandidaRosa889 Both of you were thinking of the two people I was too. I would also argue that Adrienne from Phantasmagoria (1995) would fit this category of being the first female characters in survival horror pre-Jill Valentine too.
Might be kind of a trick fact, being that survival horror was not an official genre until the first RE game. I was thinking the same thing though, I remember playing Alone on the 3DO years before RE.
I was shocked to find out that she's mixed race. I honestly never knew. 😭 Also, her RE3 outfit is fine. It looks like something I would wear just to make a quick run to the store.
I don't understand how critics were upset with Jills costume in RE3. As a woman myself, I don't understand how it sexualized her as a character. In RE1 she was dressed and equipped for the job. In RE3, she wasn't on the job or working when the incident happened. My work uniform is black pants and shirt but on my day off I more often than not wear a skirt (usually short denim). I think this makes her more believable in the sense we see official work Jill in 1 and at home Jill in 3.
A bit of correction: Laura Harris from the game "D" is the first female in a survival horror game in 3D, but even before that, there were playable women in Clock Tower and Sweet Home. (Japan Only)
2:13 Given it's similarity to the Beretta, lower ammo count and specifications this is probably a modified .45 Cougar, the same sidearm used by Rainbow Six. Jill has taste.
Not to be "that guy" but NR.34. (Jill was the first playable female character in a survival horror game) Since Resident Evil is 1996. Does clock tower count? That came out 1995 and you play as Jennifer. The game "D" was also 1995 as Laura. But that one might be a stretch. Would not be surprised if there's a older PC title or something as well.
2:00 - 2:05 Great video. Love the time you spent organizing this but I have to correct you on one. Emily Hartwood from the 1992 video game Alone in the Dark is the 1st playable female character in a survival horror game. If you're unaware of that game, you should definitely look for a longplay of it here. A LOT of the material was taken from Alone in the Dark & not just Sweet Home.
Technically she isn't. She's the first in Horror games in general. Resident Evil is the first game recognized in the survival horror subgenre coining the term and starting the horror subgenre craze of games in the late 90's. We saw this with Dino Crisis (panic horror) and Silent Hill (psychological horror) as well as games like Turok 2 (action horror). It's one of those whole fine print things.
On the IMDb page for Resident Evil Apocalypse it says Sienna Guillory bought a PSOne and a copy of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis to understand the plot and character better. That is some excellent research.
I remember in 1996 when first playing resident evil 6 I had the guide from the CD ROM case and tried to figure out who was killing all the stars members so reading her bio out of all the other stars, she stood out. Her dad was a jewel thief that taught her lock picking and she later joined special forces(delta) which Delta is its own. They recruit you. I was an 11B in the Army so we glorified SF. She's my favorite Stars member
Clock tower is a remake that came out on the PlayStation in 97, whereas Resident Evil in 96. The original Clock tower first appeared on the Super Nintendo.
@@Huestein2000 yeah and Jennifer was the first horror scream queen on videogames then (I'm not counting the girls from maniac mansion cus you can beat the game with the boyfriend and the black guy)
@@Chernobog2 but that game has 2 main players like re clock tower for the sf only has her as a protagonist, that's why maniac mansion or friday the 13th I didn't count it
Thanks for this interesting video! Honestly at first I wasn’t sure there was enough information on Jill to warrant fifty facts but I am very happily mistaken! Thank you again for the very interesting video! :)
RE3 comes out. Feminist reviewers: *WHY IS SHE OUT OF UNIFORM? ToO sEXuAl* While that outfit is not uncommon or hyper-sexual and they probably owned a similar outfit.
of course when you go out in a zombie apocalypse the first thing you think to wear is a miniskirt and a tank tube top lol The RE3 Remake did a good job in making Jill wear a believable set of clothes this time
@L Franco Again, an objective définition of survival horror doesn't exist since it depends on your past expérience as a gamer. And my own opinion is that, "survival horror" in Re games is defined by: (1)Much action+ surviving with limited ammo and resources. (2) A lot of exploration and backtracking. (3) A good ambiance (atmospheric music+ very diversified graphics) and (4) many enigmas. Also, in my own opinion, the only real survival horror game is Re1 original.
@L Franco I was just saying that Re1 was in my own opinion the only Re game that was a real survival horror game. I never talked about another franchise. Also, it's my own opinion, so respect it!
