If the remake is successful and we get the Paper Mario 3 we deserved after all these years, it would be extremely funny if the cowboy koopa was one of your party members. Foreshadowed over 20 years in the making.
@@charlieasalgadosalgado1369 People also prefer the combat and badge system than what the modern trilogy gave us. What put me off from playing the modern trilogy, is because it was nothing like the Paper Mario games I love so much from the past. Even though I love card-based games, I am not a fan of how Sticker Star changed things for the series. Sticker Star is basically a forced item-only challenge run, with zero of the unique character designs. Trading in that uniqueness for generic main series Mario game characters. As such, it's actually a problem to get into any battle that isn't "story" related, as it eats your resources. 64, TTYD, even Super, actually ENCOURAGES you to do these optional battles, as you are properly rewarded for doing so. The modern trilogy however, you get nothing worthwhile you can't get elsewhere for doing these optional battles. And you waste resources you could've put towards the story related battles instead. Plus, with zero leveling and customizing, the modern trilogy makes it so basically every playthrough of it you do is the same. 64 and TTYD however, had the badge system and levelling, to have you customize your experiences in battle. Also, TTYD and Super tackled dark themes you wouldn't see in a regular Mario game, making the story feel fresh to first time players compared to Nintendo playing it safe all the time. There is so much 64, TTYD, even Super, does right the modern trilogy doesn't do. fyi, I'm follower of logic and reason, not purely ideals that puts me in an "illusion". I am not blind to what Nintendo does wrong. One of the main problems TTYD has, is it's excessive backtracking. The new pipe room in TTYD's remake seems to be fixing that problem without drastically changing the game. In the original, most of your backtracking, was long, and you needed to walk there every time. This new fast travel room is fixing that. You clearly have not bothered to analyze TTYD and compare it to the modern trilogy. The modern trilogy is extremely bland, relying on it's humor to carry the whole game from being "boring". fyi, I don't reply to negative comment replies to my own comments. It's not worth starting a war in the comments.
Despite the cat ears being a censor originally, it kinda makes too much sense that Japan added the cat ears to all versions now given the obsession with cats over there.
@@TheBitBlock Probably because just about everyone (including Goombella's Tattle) refer to Hooktail as "it". In the final area of the game you'll find a relative who mentions her, kinda easy to overlook since you get pulled into a fight right after. (Also, it apparently mentions Hooktail is a girl if you check the Log in the menu... but how often does anyone check that? 😅)
Take my money already. This might be a new start for the future Paper Mario games keeping the classic RPG style gameplay with partners lol, but i could be reaching for hope
The blue zone travel pipes always existed in the original GameCube version, the difference in the switch version is that the pipes are all in one room now. The trouble board and pit of 100 trials always existed. Shine sprites always existed.
They probably had to change the slot machines due to certain ratings board (can’t remember the name) making any game with gambling in it have an m rating it’s why Pokemon games no longer have a game corner or if they did they had to be changed
@@TheBitBlockthis is wrong, only in Mario 3 is it actually impossible to time it. It takes a lot of practice to do it on the OG but it's not frame perfect. I believe it is a 3 frame window which is reactable with practice
I heard people saying this - but I could not find any video evidence of it. I did however see that it definitely changes based on if you were struck first / you struck first in a battle - so I stuck with that instead of the grander idea that it changes for every chapter as I could not confirm that.
Only the intro changes. The actual battle music changes depending on location. We’ve heard of variants in Hooktail’s Castle, Boggly Woods, Glitz Pit, and Twilight Trail That’s too many variations to simply be “strike first” variants
Fun fact. Fact #36 changing the bunny ears to catears was not because of censoring, it's actually a very clever reference to catgirl supremacy on xenobalde chronicles
@@TheBitBlock If I recall, the original Japanese version just mentioned Super Mario Bros. It was changed to Fire Emblem in localization, likely to promote its 1st release outside of Japan, which happened less than a year before Thousand-Year Door released in NA/EU.
At the end of the day, improved graphics won’t really improve the actual game itself to any significant degree. The old style was already good and timeless. It’s nice we have an updated version, but it’s also one of the GameCube games that benefit the least from a remake in the first place. Personally not very excited for it. I’ve played TTYD several times through and a new coat of paint at the end of the day is only a fresh coat of paint
Hi Josh! I just have to say I'm sorry I used to listen a lot to your critics way back when. And was blinded because of political differences (which I actively seek out now to grow as a person) and scared off by other people's hyperbolical language about you. (People are so intolerant and black and white thinking these days..) Im so glad I've grown as a person and have found my way back to your content. You're so talented and creative and I cant wait to see more 🎉
And I agree that the censorship is unfortunate. I'm glad the game looks amazing in almost every other aspect. The new animations, sprites and specially more emotive NPCs is just incredible
As Mario and Luigi rpg fun i didn't like paper mario series my first was 3DS people say it the worse i remember i get to final map and i trun off also i play the wii game again didn't like it i drop it the first half of the game hopefully this live to expatiation as people say the best paper mario game 💀 and yeah i will give it maybe the final chance
[newbies to TTYD through this remake, if you don't want to know about Hooktail before playing this game, I've pushed down my previous message in this edited comment for you all, as that will make RU-vid hide it] "Talking to Hooktail in his castle", uh, don't you remember? Hooktail is female. You misgendered her
Nah, I considered it a bit - but Twitter is just a hellscape and my life is better not wasting time on too much social media. I'm on Insta and TBB just got a Discord for the community though.
im tired of people not understanding the difference between a remake and remastered, a remake is an entirely new game like the modern warfare remakes same cast altered a bit new similar story as the original games but set in a new universe added cut content and changes up the gameplay completely making the said game feel brand new, a remaster is the same exact game same story same universe same cast slight changes here and there updated ui added cut content and so much more, the games just a remastered not a remake, either way im excited to play one of my fav gamecube classics on a hd console granted its gonna be like 720p in docked id be surprised if its 1080p in docked since it cant even do 60fps at 720p.
Calling this a remake is sad. I'm excited. I have it preordered. Adding a couple very minor characters, changing a couple menus, HALVING the framerate, and updating the art is not a remake, it's a remaster. I would have loved an actual remake but I'll take a remaster.
The remake looks excellent, but I don't think it really needed it considering how well the original holds up. I kind of wish they put their efforts into a PM64 Remake.
PM64 probably was not chosen for a remake for a couple reasons: 1. TTYD is a popular fan favorite, making it a safe bet for a remake. And/or 2. PM64 is already on the Switch Online Expansion service, and since PM64 is also a fan favorite, making a remake of something popular already on an expanded online subscription, may deter people from paying extra to play it on the online service
If there’s one thing that I don’t get with the thousand year door is that I just don’t like how much hype the game gets I get it people like it anyone can like the game I just don’t like when people overhype the game and say it’s the perfect Mario game because I played a lot of Mario games I’m not really a fan when people over hype stuff a lot
I think it gets equally as tiring hearing people say “just give Origami King a chance it has funny writing” Bruh, they all have funny writing. The difference is that the previous games had good battle systems on top of that. Origami King’s battling is terrible. It would be better off with no battling at all.
@@senorlock5128 I don't like Origami King either, but I can say what it has over Sticker Star and Color Splash, is at least it's no longer a forced "items only" run. Despite equipment having durability like in Zelda Breath of the Wild. TTYD, it's my favorite Paper Mario game, but it does have flaws. Backtracking being the major one. A flaw hopefully resolved by the new pipe room
I honestly think the backtracking is an extremely overblown issue. I don’t remember many people talking about it until they needed a reason to defend the newer games. I think some people simply don’t like TTYD’s linear hallway world design; and they use the guise of “backtracking” to criticize it
