Hey guys, this is Julia from Belarus. Just watched the video (was crying and laughing all the time!), still cannot believe that this journey was real. How fascinating life is. You were my inspiration and motivation, I went through some difficult times with you, your videos made me believe that I could do anything in this world. But meeting you on regular rainy day was something I would be thankfull forever (the weather obviously was not giving the vibes that some magic could happen). There was so much more to this trip: it was right and comfortable (in discomfort), joyful and crazy, real and not real at the same time. Because of the love that you spread I felt so myself during this adventure. You are real people, the most honest, grateful and kindest humans I've ever met. You really make this world better, you do. Ohh and Yes family, your comments make my cry, love you all, you're amazing! P.S №1: Still processing that I have now 3 brothers. Crazy, what a life! P.S №2: Etienne, you are the best!

hi from Belarus! at the beginning of the video i was like "huh, what are they talking about, why are they so scared, we have like the kindest people in the world " then when you met Julia i thought, that that we have a lot of that kind young people, that would instantly agree to guide you through Minsk. when i see this positive comments about julia, about grandparents, i understand that we have like almost whole country of people with their vibe. what i wanna say is that Soviet things you've seen is just a cover of polite, clean and kind country.

I'm a Canadian living in Belarus for over 2 years. I've watched a lot of your travels around the globe with great joy. Clicking on this video and seeing you start the journey to Minsk by bus, being anxious and uncertain with the language barrier. Those are all feelings I frequently experience while traveling across the land border. It's important that people see Belarus for what it is. A beautiful, clean and organized country, with kind and polite citizens. As many others have mentioned, this video brought me to tears. Thank you for your work.

Thank you for doing what you do, uncovering kindness in people even in the harshest (from the outside) places, despite all the circumstances. Thank you for venturing out of the capital to a small village and bringing back memories of my grandparents and my childhood in Belarus. Its nice to see a documentary that doesn't demonize the country. I am an American, and I've been to Belarus several times, and I've been at all those locations in Minsk in the video. Its a beautiful country, rich in history and culture. The people as you say don't seem friendly, its because its not in their culture to smile and say hello, as here in America, we sometimes do. But once you talk to people, they are often talkative. I've never had a negative interaction with people there, nobody beat me down in the streets because I'm American. But often they're just interested in my opinion of the country. And I always say its beautiful, clean, delicious food, and I love the culture and history. I encourage more people to visit and see for themselves that its a great country to visit! Fun fact: their KFC tastes better than U.S. KFC 😉 🇺🇲🤝🇧🇾☮🕊

@@kevinsview93 It's not "I don't like living there" level, it's "I'm afraid to live there" level. I was born and lived there for 24 years until I moved to Europe, where I have been living for 8 years now. I can now plan for the future, can you imagine? We can afford a house, a car, food, trips to other countries, save money for the future (and we are simple immigrants, we had nothing with us but a few bags of clothes, a pillow and blanket and a few thousand dollars gifted by relatives). My wife literally saved on food and asked her parents for money when she lived and worked in Minsk (and she worked as an architect, not in a low-level job). A huge number of people are literally on the bottom two levels of Maslow's pyramid of needs. I'm literally scared to go there because of what I've written in comments under political posts and liked them. I've seen criminal cases and people who have been tortured in prisons just for daring to take to the streets after the 2020 election or write something against it. I see 4 years of terror against those who haven't been caught yet. I don't want to go through this humiliation at the border with checks of your correspondence and interrogations (I am aware of similar humiliation with interrogations at American airports). If you don't protest, don't write anything about the authorities - you will live in peace and most likely nobody will touch you. No one will ever think of beating you up for being an American or any other foreigner (wtf???), it has never happened and will never happen. People literally grow up on American culture and enjoy the benefits of the western world. They are interested in socialising with people from a different culture. Many of them have never left the country their whole lives, like Julia (I hope she does go to Italy). All in all - Belarus is a great country, it's very cool that foreigners are coming there and discovering it for themselves. __EVERYTHING__ in that video is an absolute crystal truth. The only problem is those who control the country. And we should remember that only for this single reason Belarus is hell for many Belarusians. Hope you got my point, sorry for longread

@@oDazzleRazzle I deleted my previous message because I was in a bad mood. I think there is no need for more negativity in this world. There is too much evil in the world already. Let's be friends, all people in the world. If you think about it, Belarusians are not much different from Americans. I am Belarusian and worked with Americans in New York. Perhaps their grandmothers were immigrants from Europe, Italy, the Balkans, etc. But now they consider themselves Americans because they were born here... So I think that we are practically the same. European appearance and culture are practically the same everywhere, be it the USA, Germany, Great Britain, or Belarus, Russia, Ukraine... It's just a formality. Many Belarusians came to the USA and Europe. Europeans and Americans can also come to Belarus and relax, or see, live, study, or work, do business, etc. Just like Belarusians and Russians do in the US and Europe. There is enough evil in the world. We see too much evil in the media. We are literally being set against each other. We must be smart to prevent a new war or a new arms race. We have had enough wars.

This video reminds me of the time my mum, brother, and I were travelling on the trans-siberian railway in 2016, we met a girl staying on the same carriage who had spent the last 10 years learning English, but we were the first English speaking people she had ever met, and she spoke so well!! We knew her for two days on the train, and as we were heading to Novosibirsk, she told us "before you leave from the train, please wait, my brother has gifts for you". Turns out, she is an artist, and her brother is a woodworker, she had sent him drawings of designs she had drawn, and he had wood carved Russia with a bear and a kangaroo on it (we're Australian), with the words "From the Gerasimov family to the Lawson family", and a few other beautiful wood carved pieces. It was the sweetest display of kindness ever!! She was just so thankful to be able to speak English to native speakers for the first time in her life. Russian and Eastern countries' kindness and warmth is one of the best things in the world. My mum still proudly displays the carvings in her house, and we love to tell others the story of how we were given them. Its so important to recognise kindness and love

Since then, I feel I have seen more heinous and ugly people than ever. The negativity seen from our government and growing up thinking all communist people are bad. I came to tears watching how the people of Belarus opened their homes to complete strangers and offered their hospitality and more. In my neighborhood, in the city of Indianapolis, I feel very unsafe to do such things. Just this week, we had a salesperson punch a guy in his home because he did not want the salesperson on his property. There are other instances, too!

I applied for a permit to travel around the country and drove from Moscow down to Kiev, and up through Belarus, to St Petersburg (then called Leningrad). It was incredibly different to see, and I learnt Russian for the trip so I could converse. Everyone was so friendly (unlike stereotypes of the Soviet Union). It was so foreign to me. Beautiful place. Watching your mouth was the only part that was hard. I went on a month long trip including ‘victory day’. I saw the most incredible display of weaponry I’ve ever seen. People smart enough would catch on the whole vibe and would go down a rabbit hole to prove, there is a lot of western money involved and washed, created, et - through wars and such conflicts, at the same time trying to weaken any other 'big boys' like Russia...

* cries in Belorusian* I’m from Brest, I’m glad you’ve visited my country. I’ve lived many years abroad and a lot of my foreign especially western friends wished to visit my country, for many of my friends I am their first friend from Belarus and I’m always honored to be one. To show the world we are actually really cool kind and friendly people and the country is not as scary and weird as it may looks like on the west media. Yulia is my twin ,like - minded , I’m glad you’ve met her , this was a destiny and your present for her really touched me , and I am glad she was so healthy patriotic and not ashamed of our country and said all the good things about it and communicated in her best way! You definitely couldn’t meet a better guide than her in Minsk 🙏🏼 Anyways guys, you’re always welcome back to dive in deeper. And to see with your own eyes that it’s not as scary as it is portrayed in the “free democratic country” . For sure people are just people! And everyone has an open heart and soul if you are also with your open heart and soul! All Russians and Ukrainians and Belorussians used to be one , and the people are still ONE but politics are politics. Wars will always exist… there is much more going on , but our countries are just on the spotlight now.. but it’s not the choice of the people or decisions that people can simply impact on. We are living not In the world of unicorns and pink ponies. It’s so immature to judge the country’s people just by the political situation in the world… I hope that the viewers of this channel can understand this. Also the name of the video is so controversial as if it’s the only thing my country is famous for. Quite sad and I don’t like this tacky name but sure if that what attracts the viewers let it be… I’m glad you were able to show our kind and simple grannies and simple typical country side life and bother-less life that ordinary people have and some bubbly and awesome girls like Yulia who even has a great English and smiles all the time! People are people, if we focus on bad - we will find bad. If we seek for something good - it will find us :) ☀️

Both increased under Zelenskyy, then RU language was banned with Azov in particular beating and torturing and even kllng civilians, opposition parties banned and most recently, elections cancelled to make sure the dictator cannot be ousted, so US and England can continue moneylaundering of their citizens taxes they plunder for the weapon companies. I rode all over the country speaking to locals last year. Very sad that they are snatching teenagers off the street to put at the front...a 4 hour average survival time. Far more than 750k UA and 150k RU have died since Boris Johnson of UK rushed over to pessure Zelenskyy to undo the peace negotiation agreed in Turkey.....a habbit now for UA since also failing to follow the Minsk Agreement. When the snow melts and the lies are exposed, peoole will learn of the Christian holocaust perpetuated by the Zionist dictatorship of Ukraine (top 3, not just Zelenskyy) in collaboration with the Right Wing Ultranationalist Banderites. I had the pleasure of discovering Belarus in December of 2007. I worked there, lived there and have countless stories of the hospitality and warmth of these beautiful people. Julia is the essence of all that is amazing about Belarus.

I lived in an appartment complex in rural germany until i moved out to study and we had belarusian neighbours that came to germany for work. They lived one floor under us for about seven years and then moved back to belarus. They were such nice and genuine people i hope they are doing well!:)

Я прям рыдаю от теплоты этой прекрасной бабушки. Она такая душевная, искренняя. I'm crying my soul out. This lady from the countryside is so soulful and sencere.

This company acts like they've decided someone is watching them and they're playing spies: running from tree to tree and putting holes in newspapers. People: just living

If you speak english, people will turn heads to look at you since no one does that there. And security is higher these days.

@@bigbroanimepeople will turn heads to look at you because it seems new to us. Like if we see a black person guy its not a bad , we look at him because hes new for us. I would like to see how you react to someone who speaks a different language in your country.

Aww, this was just lovely. :) I'm a retired U.S. diplomat (Dept. of State, 1990-2015), who was assigned to the American Embassy in Minsk, Belarus between 1996-98. This clip delivered waves of fond nostalgia, and reminds us all that as part of the global family, we're far more similar to each other than we are different. A thousand thanks for all that you do, Team Seek.
