The dry humour during the guys tour of Mogul's rundown, dystopian-level office and all the random stuff is absolutely hilarious. Ludwig just says everything with a straight face while showing piles of trash and empty rooms lol
Meanwhile the entity hiding back there in the shadowy corner with white eyes 0:32 ya what ever this loser is saying I been standing here for ages and he still hasnt noticed me 😂😂
Amazing behind the scenes of Ludwig and very amazed to hear about the workers co-op that is a great way forward for himself and employees and I gotta applaud him for that. Many content creators see themselves as the be-all-and-end-all and for Ludwig to have this vision and to be able to implement a system for his employees where they have a stake and decision with OffBrand is impressive and very commendable
It’s very interesting to see Lud talking so candidly about the business. He’s usually cracking jokes but a good amount of the time here he’s legitimately just talking about how he runs thing. Super interesting.
@@duskpede5146I think she’s used it for a few podcast episodes but since her and maya live in different states they usually just do it over zoom or smth
I went from "What a waste of $15k a month on a studio they barely use" to "Shit the yard makes so damn much they can pay that just for a place to put their set"
Crazier thing is the yard makes 215k per month just from patreon, that’s not including RU-vid views, Spotify, and other platforms + growth on Ludwig’s main channel
@lukeh1172 bro they have stable sponsors that appear twice a podcast, they are making crazy money, each. Slime has been very open about how crazy his salary is and I think has said the current amount
Ludwig seems like the perfect example of someone who knows to surround himself with people that are smarter than him to get things done. Being able to hire someone and trust them enough to do things on their own is really admirable & it's not really easy. [Edit] Saw Ludwig reacted to this! To be clear, I’m not calling him stupid or anything. Acknowledging that you cannot learn and do everything and embracing that is a great quality to have as a leader. 👏
I know he says we only ever see him at his best, but he really does seem like such an incredible guy. You can tell he puts a lot of thought into how he can use his position for good rather than trying to get himself as big as possible
@@mattg2551 Shake, Archie, Polite are all goobers but they're some of the best editors in the business. I just saw Archie post a promo vid that he made for Hivemind and it's absolutely insane, they're all super talented. Yingo is one of lud's closest friends and helps him keep his life together and organized which is no small task, even if he's a bit of a goober himself
Colin, Samir, I beg of you guys to do a longer form documentary with him. The fact he's a creator willing to be candid and honest and how well the three of you gel is so amazing. I just want more!
I love how slightly unedited this was, like the camera guys and boom ops were there. Lots of camera shake, just felt so authentic. I'v also never seen this side of Ludwig. No idea how that guy is just so calm.
the camera shakes in some shots where way too much and it was noticable that they where unintentional for example some of the still b roll shots or camera pans that is just bad filmmaking and not a stylistic choice they just ran out of good shots and had to use the shaky ones in the edit also in some shots the framing is wayy of
loved how open and honest Ludwig was from the business side of being a creator; huge respect to him for that and the way he cares about his employees + the companies he's a part of.
@@whitesox4524 that doesnt mean he's not smart, some people can be okay wit hthat and trust oother humans and the interaction hes had with them in the past
Shout out David, Tyga, Jesse on the good work making our viewing pleasure possible. You're just as critical as what you're filming. Keep it movin and groovin muchachos
ludwigs office is so crazy cause each room will be like "fully kitted out gym space", "the set of getting over it irl", "a wizards chamber", "a completely normal editing bay", "the unmitigated power of the sun" and "a back yard (also entirely inside)"
I started watching Ludwig last year and until very recently I didn't realize just how smart he is. I've long understood that successful business people diversify, they never put everything in one basket. Take your profit from one project and invest in something else. Ludwig is a clever businessman, and he's an ethical one. I hope all the people who work with him understand and appreciate that. I'm gonna enjoy everything he does right up until he retires to go and open his bakery in Japan.
Man, I really love how Collin and Samir can talk to anybody! I learn so much every time, and I think it's thanks to the way you can bring out everything from these creators.
As someone who works with coops, the fact that Offbrand is converting to a worker-coop is amazing! Most people don’t realize coops exist outside of the agricultural/farming sector so to see a company (a creator one at that) talk about the viability of cooperatives makes me so happy.
You absolutely forget that ludwig is not just mr streamer man. Crazy how hard hes working on 2 companies, while streaming, podcasting, and showing up to do collabs all across the streamer community.
I love Ludwig turning Offbrand into employee owned. That's crazy but also really cool and seems like a caring move to make. Also it seems like there's a lot to learn form Ludwig and how he does business despite the way he talks being so low key. There's way more going on than he gives way. Although it doesn't seem like he's purposefully holding back, just seems like how he sees it.
HIs ability to stay super lowkey while still executing on big ideas is incredible. Most people who have such big aspirations tend to be a little frantic, but he manages to cut through with a calmness.
It's great to see how level minded Ludwig is. He trusts his people which is huge in any sort of job not being micro managed all the time. He throws money into content whether it's a guaranteed payout or not just to create fun and interesting things for his viewers. He has a long term goal and great exit strategy. The man deserves an award for legitimacy and authenticity. Great work to Lud and the Teams.
Lud creates a very casual environment for work, yet it remains sustainable because everyone cares about what is being done, like his community, Lud takes the responsibility of making a healthy environment for everyone super seriously, yet he shows that efficiency can come from respect and fun responsibility. I love Lud's comment about the time of arrival. "Why is no one here", "I dunno it's 10am lmao" "So when does work start" "I dunno people roll in..." (and clearly do the work, they work what they need to, no need to act like you're working to keep your job, that is so needed everywhere man...) edit: typo, I typed "fun" twice haha
As someone who's been in the streaming, twitch, content space for 6 years now it's pretty interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes with a creator as successful as Ludwig. It's amazing to see what opportunities are out there for aspiring creators and how far the potential can be expanded in the business world. Appreciate you both for making this video and showing the transparency of all the factors that go into business decisions, revenue etc.
this video has broken my immersion when it comes to The Yard's set. you mean to tell me there are just some chuckle fucks playing valo on the other side of that slide?!?
I saw Nick or Malena say this before, but it's amazing how Ludwig just flips his YT switch on. He can go from casual talk, to all of a sudden a clean ass improvised YT intro.
i actually completely disagree with ludwigs assesment that youtube overpays him. He singlehandedly legitimised youtube as a livestreaming platform for me. I used to look at youtube as a failing livestreaming platform, but now I look at it as almost better then twitch, and frequently i watch youtube streames now
Oh my god YEEESSSS this content is exactly what I was looking for from you guys and you absolutely delivered and nailed it! Seeing behind the scenes and the day in the life of how these creators work is incredibly fascinating especially with this documentary style. Keep up the great work team!!
I love seeing Ludwig making Off-brand a cooperative worker owned company. For those who dont know this is basically what socialists (not communists) mean by seizing the means of production, not by the state but by the workers.
this is great like one of (if not numer one) favorite like inside interview like this, loved hearing lud talk so in-depth and like transparently(? about the business and how it works, the numers and stuff, great stuff
This video has such a beautiful, quiet, poetic, artistic, understated aesthetic. The grading, the framing, the sound, everything. It feels nostalgic and meaningful in a really fragile, gentle way. Hats off to the team.
this aged like wine talking about how offbrand can operate without lud, seeing as he just sold it off to the employees. awesome and i hope this becomes a standard.
Everyone's making fun of the mogul moves office but people should pay attention to the numbers. They spend 11 million a year, and make 13million. If their office costs 15k a month, that's 180k a year, or 1.8% of their operating expenses. Almost *all* their expenses are going directly to paying offbrand to run events for them, or paying their top talent (Ludwig, to a lesser extent Slime and Nick and Aiden) to record their highly profitable video series. Optimizing the usage of their space just doesn't fucking matter to them because at the end of the day its a tiny fraction of their costs.
The decompression zone made me lose it 🛏️. Also, i was surprised to not see more piles of cast aside purchases from his "chat decides what i buy from amazon" videos.
I would love to see y’all do something like this and get real inside baseball with more creators. Also talk with the Donut media host and see what their process is since they are faces of the channel but they don’t actually own the channel (or at least I don’t think so). Their business is so interesting to me.
Really cool insight to see exactly how his businesses run. I knew there were some staff but didn’t know how many people were needed to make all the events. Also huge respect for how open he is with the costs, revenue, etc..
i remember seeing a destiny clip where he talked about how he's literally never heard anyone say anything negative about ludwig behind the scenes. so fingers crossed he's not a pedophile
WHAT NO WAY. COLIN AND SAMIR PLUS LUD???? yall are literally my favorites my top two watched channels. I'm so happy right now. gonna dive into this video harddddd
Ludwig is literally living the dream. This is exactly where I feel most content creators (or at least me) would like to go. Being able to have a company like Off brand producing interesting varied projects and doing good by your employees
when he said cuz i wanna bake bread! i was instantly reminded of one of my dads friends who will occasionally come by and just give us bread, he's like 70 so now whenever I see him I'm reminded of lud lol
It's such a mindfuck to that colin and samir were just hanging around in the background of a melee tournament of all things. Like they might have met Zain or Mango
omg the yard set looks so much better here than it does in the yard. idk if its the angle they film at or the lighting or what but it's just so much more detailed and vibrant here
It's really cool to see this side of Ludwig. He jokes around and acts dumb for his viewers a lot but we all know he's a responsible, smart, and creative dude. Thanks for taking us behind the scenes!
I absolutely LOVED this video. Ludwig has been my favorite content creator along with his team for a long time. Id love to spend a day there. 🤞 maybe some day
You guys honestly owe it to Ludwig to show other prominent Twitch and RU-vid streamers' daily lives. They're each a unique weird breed of professional creator and complete degenerate.
Can't believe no one has said this, and I am surprised it wasn't mentioned in the video, but one time someone asked ludwig about colin and samir and he said "I know thats not a real youtube channel, I know how this game works by now, I ask who it is, and you guys go "colin and samir deez nutz across your face"" Ludwig thought colin and samir was a deez nutz joke.
I thought it was crazy that Ludwig spent 10-15K a month for rent for the building (not really that crazy for a building, but it looked pretty empty and unused so it was a bit crazy), but then I saw that The Yard's Patreon pulled 213K a month, and it was immediately understandable.
12:38 Ottomated being the maverick dev he is, is the only reason why I (or any avid Twitch viewer) took Ludwig's starter productions seriously. Glad to see him being name dropped so often. Compared to other devs in the space he's pretty rated but I would still consider him underrated because of how vital he was in making Ludwig's transition from Twitch to RU-vid so seamless.
