Thanks) It relates more to history. Soviet Union was the first country whose people went into space. And the United States was the first whose people landed on Moon. As there was a competition between these two countries „Cold War“ it was decided to call Soviet people who went into space „cosmonauts“ and the US ones - „astronauts“. In general these words‘ meaning is the same
