No, I agree with you. There's also Grand Marnier and Blue Curaçao, but I like Cointreau. And syrup is not necessary. I also prefer Boston shakers over the cobbler shaker used in the video, but I'm being super nit-picky.

You are thinking specifically of a Cadillac margarita. A standard margarita doesn't have tripple sec or grand Marnier.

Nathan Bergstrom a margarita consists of tequila, lime juice and an orange liqueur typically triple sec or Cointreau. A Cadillac margarita replaces that with grand marnier

Adam Berry finally someone said it! I was looking through the comments to see it. These aren’t margaritas! Also to make the glass chilled it should be ice and water. It gets colder faster. Also I’ve never seen a traditional margarita made with simple syrup.

Agave nectar is not a traditional ingredient in a margarita, triple sec is though

Agave is just a marketing gimmick; regular simple syrup is fine, but triple sec should definitely be in a margarita. And it should go through a fine strainer before serving it "up". And the simple syrup should be added proportionately to the lime juice, not to the tequila. The tequila can be varied depending on how strong you want the drink to be, but if you vary the lime to sugar ratio you end up with a margarita that is either too sweet or too sour.

@@5avan10 Idk I made agave simple and I really enjoyed it: it tasted like caramel, almost. Not sure if that's the flavor I want for an unaged tequila but maybe it would go well with an añejo? But yeah I feel llike 2:1:1 tequila:lime:cointreau is the standard I see? I prefer 4:2:2:1 tequila:lime:cointreau:simple just because I have a sweet tooth, but if I was the expert I'd at least mention that it's not the traditional way :P

I love Sandra Lee, Semi Homemade is like a show for housewives with drinking problems.
