Great video! So thoughtful and profound. I too am celebrating my 50th year of fly fishing, which started in PA, but has taken me elsewhere. So good to hear of your recovery.

Andy, thanks for sharing. So many RU-vidrs guard locations, tips and techniques like they're nuclear launch codes. I appreciate your respect for the sport, history, tradition, family, good friends and nature.

Well done, well said . As a young boy I use to walk the woods , pastures go down to the small river to fish , swim . The smell of the woods after a spring or summer rain . Go down down the artesian well and retrieve water for the day. I had the biggest backyard and walked until it was time to go back to the cabin. Best days and way to grow up . Would not give it up I go back and walk in my same foot steps.

Wow Andy what a marvelous video. I too started my journey as a kid on Penns Creek, our stories are similar I go every year and have countless memories of days with my mentors and now I spend time with my son.I recognized so many sections on Penns, we even caught trout in the same holes I'm surprised we haven't crossed paths. I too have had a life long passion with fish Penns Creek. Thank you for the wonderful production, you truly have a gift. I was truly at the end, thinking of days gone past with dad and uncle fishing those same pockets. You have a gift Andy👏🐟 .

Thanks for sharing your experiences. That ending made it real dusty in here, much to relate to. I have a son with physical disabilities and have been troubled, pondering how to share these places and experiences with him in the future. It has sent my mind in many directions and sparked a lot of reflection on this thing we do. Best wishes.
@apennsylvaniajournalwithan9866
Brian. I can relate. I too am a parent of a disabled child. I know it can be tough and expectations needed to be adjusted, but a love for the outdoors in general can be nurtured and present opportunities to share experiences that you might not have expected. Good luck.

@@apennsylvaniajournalwithan9866 I managed to catch about 25 trout (plus a rather big fallfish) in two days on Penns. I lost a pretty big trout in some fast pocket water, but the fight was still fun even if he broke me off. I caught most of my fish on nymphs, but I did catch a few on swung soft hackle wet flies. Overall it was a great trip for my first time on Penns…of course I did fall in twice and got soaked, but it was still fun!

Thank you for a beautiful video of a historical great watershed. Good luck with fishing days ahead and more important good health. If you were to share some advice I would appreciate it. If I were to visit penns in the fall , what time frame would u go and why ? Thanks
@apennsylvaniajournalwithan9866
Dave, first half of October seems to be best in the Fall on Penns. Still a lot of bug activity and you can find rising trout. That said I do fish later and have done well into early November. But the weather can turn sour pretty quickly then.

What spot On Penns would you recommend a first Time fly fisherman starting on Penns?
@apennsylvaniajournalwithan9866
@apennsylvaniajournalwithan9866 5 месяцев назад
Anywhere in the vicinity of Poe Paddy State Park upstream and downstream are good locations to start. Below the tunnel above Poe Paddy if you don’t mind hiking in are good places to start Penns as well. Be careful wading and bring a wading staff at all times.

How small of a stream will stop u from using a 10 ft or 10ft + rod . Considering it has forested , high growth surrounding conditions.
@apennsylvaniajournalwithan9866
Dave, when I was young I fished a 7 1/2 foot fly rod on small streams. Today I fish a 9 foot rod on all streams big and small because that is my preferred rod. Somehow I find a way to use the available space along a tight stream corridor to get the fly where I need to and use all types of casts in the process. If you are interested, I’d recommend this book by Charlie Meck. Thanks www.walmart.com/ip/Fishing-Small-Streams-with-a-Fly-Rod-Pre-Owned-Paperback-0881502022-9780881502022-Charles-R-Meck/229958915
