About 50 years after the crimes were committed, a 78-year-old man will be sentenced on Wednesday in two cold-case murders that took place in Tallmadge in the 1970s. Just last month, Gustave “Gus” Sapharas, 78, was found guilty of the two murders.

He's definitely killed more people. There's no way he killed 2 people and then did nothing for 50 years. He's a monster

No way he did nothing just between 1970 and 1975. Murderers don't work that way.

Exactly! So many DNA samples have been sitting on shelves or LOST for decades, from before DNA testing existed. They need to be processed now. If a detective doesn't take interest...nothing happens! These weirdos can't escape from DNA anymore.

Thank you, Capt, Dough Bohon for taking a further step into trying to solve this cold case murder. You have brought so much closure for their famly and friends. I have been hearing of stories of cold cases being solved many years later. My brother was shot and killed in 2005 during a robbery. I think my brothe knew the 2 guys involved bc he tried to stop both men from coming inside the apt unit. One did, however during the sruggle with the other man, he shot him and both left quickly. This whole thing took a matter of minutes. I only know these details because his gf was home at the time. Even though the gun was found, the fingerprints found on the gun did not show anything in the system. The cameras nearby, they were too grainy to identify the 2 guys. These 2 guys obviously did not commit another crime again bc then their fingerprints would match or maybe they are deceased. I want justice for my brother's death. I think they both are living a life out there and have a family. They need to pay for what they did. I still have one of the detectives card (the nice one, one of the detective was a complete jerk). They must have gathered something from when my brother fought with them, some skin cells or hair. Prayers to the family who finally saw justice and Gustave Sapharas be sent to prison where he will live the rest of his life.

I used to believe that thinking you could get away with murder was the ultimate arrogance. Then I found out nearly 50% of all murders committed in the U.S. go unsolved. Hopefully, with new technologies and determined detectives like Doug Bohon this will change drastically.

One thing I love the most about future retirees such as detectives. they'll solve some old cold cases before retiring for good. 😊

Checking for DNA under victim's fingernails should be one of the first steps taken in an investigation 🤨 If this would have been done this monster would have been caught and instead he lived his life free for 50 years 😥 Its absolutely pathetic that those innocent girls and their families had to wait soooo long to see justice served for their senseless murders. God Bless the victims and their families 🙏🙏🙏

They didn’t have DNA matching 50 years ago so what you said made no absolutely sense.
