You need to be very careful when you attach the bottom chord of trusses to a plate. When the truss takes a load (like snow) it lifts up as it goes in tension and can pick the wall up with it. You need to use a connection device (they make them) that will allow the chord to go up but that restrains side to side movement.
Excellent job! Multiple people on a crew is definitely beneficial, especially when they know what they are doing. Strong back, weak mind is good for demolition, but construction demands a strong mind to work with the strong back. You have that with these guys!
Looks good Johnny. I bet it feels great to see the dream shop come together. I know I can’t wait for that day. Right now I’ll deal with my 12x20 1 car garage.
The bottom chord of your trusses needs to be able to flex up and down, depending on the wind rating in your area how necessary it is to secure centre of the bottom chord at all Run battens long the top of the bottom chords and block either side of the bottom chord on the bearer and remove the screws you put it This will allow it to flex like it needs to but not rack
I'm in Oregon and once I saw ALL that dust, I had to pause the video, and run down to the shop to get a dust mask to continue watching the rest of the video....nice job.
Up cycling and “slo-mo dust”……does it get any better? It’s less like work when you have a bunch of buddies to have fun with, isn’t it? Looking good. ….
dustmasks guys!!!! i want to watch your videos for a long time... please dont stop because of breathing problems. this comes from a person with breathing problems..... its literally the worst thing to live with
Oh man, I feel that plywood demo, just removed 1000sqft in that same manner from a remodel we are doing. Those flooring sheets will be used as roof sheeting as needed
Thought this was so fortuitous because I just bought a man girder to squeeze into my skinny jeans. Instructions unclear and now I have splinters in my unspeakables.
We all ended up wearing masks on and off throughout the day. Unfortunately, it's next to impossible to communicate with respirators on and tools being used, so it was kind of a trade off.
you might ask him about connecting the trusses to that girder. they are supposed to be free floating over walls, but you should have a 2x4 across them to keep their spacing proper.
I surmise there are no building inspectors in Ashe County for this thing to be built in the first place. You should rename your "workshop" to your "work shanty".
We did, those were the "trap doors" as I called them. I decided having the floor insulated was a better idea, plus we got the back doors to the attic operational so we have another way of getting material up there.
