Awesome. I own a Service Honda 500, and I've got to say it's the most amazing and FUN bike I've ever own or ridden. I've put more hours on it in the 4 short months I've had it than I used to put on other bikes in a year.
Open-class bikes are just excellent. I got to do a little gravel-road work on my dad's '79 Husqvarna 390CR and it just blew me away. The difference between the 390CR and my 250CR was just epic. Then he said his 500 Maico was just as big of a jump in the low end, etc. I want one, I just want one!
excellent video cheers for putting this on,, 500s are the very best, well want one of the new kx500af ..they look awsome, this track looks very good 2 nice n fast, iv drove past it so many times on the motorway in my van at work, think i might take my bike n av a sneeky few laps.. lol!!!!!
brilliant!!!!!! im laying on the sofa watchin this itching to get out and ride my cr500 again but i broke my leg on mine 2 weeks ago, out for 3 months.....not happy
Wow, I didn't even notice the pipe until I paused it and scratched my head a while. That's really cool. And damn, does that guy haul some ass at 4:12. I tried to pause it to look at the bike (or should I say, blur) but it took three tries. Lots of good riders in this video.
It's just amazing to think they are probably using only about 20~30% of the throttle. Applying full after or during a turn with a 500 2 stroke would probably wheelie the bike instantly, these engines are monsters !
Why not? These bikes all have more power than any new 450F you can buy, and their handling is competent enough that it would take a very skilled rider to set them apart - and even then some riders prefer the way an older bike feels. Motocross bikes honestly haven't gotten appreciably faster since about 1979, the primary changes have been in looks and ergonomics.
previously owned an old yz 490, and agree with most on here, 2 strokes will always be around 4 bangers will never take over alone, so many riders prefer a 2 stroke over a 4, i personally think that they should re-produce some new looking 500 2 strokes and see how they would fair with more up to date frames and techs, i think that would be the only way forward for 2 stroke's.
500 2 strokes are real beasts, underestimated by a lot of motocrossers......but most people are simply not able to hang on to the power band for a whole race..... They are and will always be the real dirtbikes --->>>>>2 STROKE 4LIFE!!!
Nice video. Is #60 OK? I spent a day on a borrowed KX500 once. The next guy to borrow it broke the front right off the bike, glad it didn't happen while I was on it. I might want 1 of your vids, is it longer then the 1 on you tube?
@exoged I know its a really old post but i just wanted to tell you (if you dont know already) service Honda are making the kx500af and cr500af :) the legends are back! Go Look at their site if you are interested.
Not only that but most little kids dont get hurt! cause they ride for fun but once you get older like 16 you start to take more chances and get ballsier so this is gonna affect the future of motocross
43 riders turned up out of some 70 odd that were booked in, alot of people pulled out because of bad weather forecast, the weather held out for half the day and the track was perfect in the morning. No i didnt ride, the 500 isnt in working order at the moment unfortunately.
@HoldYourBreath94 as do I. I see 14 year olds riding 450's, but I know full grown men that can't tame a 500. I sure as heck can't handle a 500. And when they're riding like this, I can't help but wonder if they're defying physics in a little way.
funny how only brand new 500AF snaps in half, and all other bikes are intact. My, how quality has gone down the tubes lately. THANK YOU CHINA FOR DESTROYING WORK ETHIC
