Kalief Browder spent 800 days in solitary confinement while being held 3 years without a trial. He was accused of stealing a backpack. He was 100% innocent. He was also a teenager a that time. After being freed he was never the same and hung himself when he was 22. This took place on rikers island.

People always get persuaded to take plea bargains, pleading especially if they can get out of jail right then. Sometimes those charges they have on their record screws their lives up pretty much, job wise and all that. If this guy plead guilty to a felony then he can never own or possess a firearm ever again. Certain jobs he can never get.
