Hearing Fielding's breakdown of costs for the S14 makes me glad I picked up a Z. I want to drift for fun, not to compete. Even with a stock Z, I am hesitant because drifting is just such a time/money pit.

My thoughts are I'm really glad you made this video. I personally have a fully built KA-T s13 that's my baby and I LOVE to drive it but man it kill my pocket book to do so and somethings ALWAYS going wrong because it's so custom and full tilt. I also have a near stock SC300 manual car that I love to go play with that costs much less but at only 200whp and 3500lbs it's very sluggish and struggles to drift bigger tracks. So I choose my weapon of choice based on the track at hand.

Low compression turbo motor vs N/A , difference is much smaller than people think. Michael Essa said a 1000 hp turbo motor is comparable to an 800hp N/A motor.

The S14 looks better, and transitions better than the Z probably because of the hp difference, but that's just from a viewers perspective :) but I've never drifted irl haha

hell yeah, I pick shred all day and have drinks and fun with friends and family after. Compared to wrench day and night, have 30 min of fun and then back to wrenching and busted knuckles. Unless you shop owner or etc and want to show your skills in wrenching or any other product, i will pick option #1. Simplified... you wanna learn to drive or wrench

I am guessing it depends on the technique you use. clutch kicks, e brake, pure power, flicking the car out or other stuff. Some drift cars have 700-1000hp but are very peaky in the power, so a 300-500hp with a wide power curve could have more power ready, then the peaky 1000hp setup, that needs to build up power first. I remember a race truckdriver saying he needed to floor it for ½-1 sec before he actually needed the power, because the turbo buildup took that amount of time, before the power was available.

I’m making 280 whp out of my stock SR and T28 and it’s plenty of power for drifting. If it’s not enough for you doing grass roots drifting then maybe do something else.

Obviously if you put both cars on some grippier tires the S14 would be faster but they’re on Kendas so.... yeah. Also it was very clear that the S14 was actually faster in drift at the same amount of angle.

i think 250hp with a car that isnt so heavy like an ls400 for example are good enough to be drifted and the lighter/more power it has then its easier i guess

I battled with getting my 1.5j 180 to do what I want, not break parts every lap etc and very heavily considered selling it to get a Z. In the end I persevered and haven’t regretted it yet. However as Fielding said you are well aware WHEN something breaks it will be more to fix than just buying a Z and the cycle starts again...
