Thank you Matthias for the great video! In the past years, I was underwater with a Sony A7ii, built into a Nauticam housing, and a huge amount of accessories. Various reasons (e.g. transport, maintenance/material costs, practice possibilities in the lake) led me to sell the setup 2 years ago. I enjoyed the time without a camera, but I also long to take up art again in the form of photography or videography. The prerequisite is that the handling (see disadvantages above) is easier and the price is lower. At first I thought of a GoPro with a little light and a Macromate Mini Lens. After further research and discussions, I came across the Divevolk SeaTouch 4 MAX housing. The main advantage for me is that I can use a compact yet powerful all-rounder (Marco, Normal and Wide) with my smartphone. Interest is high, but I haven't bought it yet. And now the reason why I am posting it below this video: With 5000 lumens, an angle of 120 degrees and a CRI of 96, the Divevolk SL50 has good performance figures, especially for wide-angle shots. But what about macro photography? About a year ago you introduced the Backscatter MW-4300 in connection with the GoPro. With this we achieve 4300 lumens, an angle of 85 degrees, a CRI of [unknown] and have a macro mode. In your opinion, what is the right choice in terms of light to do justice to the Allrounder and why? Is it one of the upper models or even a completely different one?
@MatthiasLebo
@MatthiasLebo Год назад
Hey Roger Thanks for your question. Not so easy to answer. Both of these lights, the SL50 and the MW4300, offer good value for money. The difference in output power can be neglected. The wider beam of the SL50 is a clear advantage in my opinion. On the other hand, the MW4300 offers the option of switching to a macro mode and using a (separately available) snoot module, which is great for macro. I would put it this way, if your focus will be mainly medium and macro shots, a set of MW4300 will serve you just fine and will probably be more versatile. If your focus will be wide angle and medium shots, then the wider beam of the SL50 will be an advantage. If you can't decide where you want to put your focus and really want an all around light, I would personally go with the SL50. Yes, you're missing out on the macro mode, but you can better fine tune the output power and it's less complicated to use, having only one button instead of a variety of buttons on the MW4300. I hope this helps a bit? Whatever you decide please consider using my affiliate links to get your lights. It helps a lot in keeping this channel going and you'll benefit from a little discount on each of them too. Hello Matthias, still and old video but It seems that this light is just a rebranding of the SUPE V3K v2 that you spoke about some years ago. Could you confirm?
@MatthiasLebo
@MatthiasLebo 6 месяцев назад
Yes, Scubalamp makes those lights for Divevolk. I think it is a newer version though than the V3K v2. But yes, it’s a pretty much identical light. I’ve always liked the Scubalamps. Great value for money, and it’s the same with this Divevolk branded light. Can’t really go wrong for that price. 😉

Hi Matthias, thank you for a great review. I am looking to purchase Seatouch Max 4 and like doing a combination of all types of underwater photography and videography (wide angle as well as macro). Would you recommend this SL50 or would you recommend the Backscatter 4300? Or would it be necessary to have both? Thanks
@MatthiasLebo
@MatthiasLebo 11 месяцев назад
Hey Brandon, the SL50 is a great all-round video light option for small systems like the Divevolk housing. The of these lights will work great for wide angle video and photos and one is sufficient for lighting up macro subjects. It might not be as versatile as the Backscatter MW4300, as this can also be used as a snoot light with some accessories, but unless you are into snoot photography or videography, I reckon the SL50 is the better option. By the way, you can use this link to Divevolk's website to get an extra 6% off the price of the video lights: bit.ly/3M9t6Kp

Hello @MatthiasLebo , can you please say where did you buy blue filter for Divevolk SL50 flashlight, or maybe specs how to find compatible filter from other manufacturers because i don't see any of them on divevolkdiving shop. Thanks in advance for your advice!
@MatthiasLebo
@MatthiasLebo 5 дней назад
Divevolk is updating their web shop at the moment adding new products like the blue filters. Hopefully they should be available soon. Alternatively check out the blue filters from Scubalamp. They are the ones making the blue filters for Divevolk. But be careful as to which model you buy, as they might not all be compatible with the Divevolk lights.

Hi Matthias - I really enjoy your channel and enrolled in your underwater video course. Quick question - what cold shoe ball mount do you recommend for the Divevolk? I have a Karen Hydra 6000 video light and bought a the Kraken cold show ball mount, but it does not attach securely to the Divevolk.
@MatthiasLebo
@MatthiasLebo 11 месяцев назад
Hey Laura, thanks for your message and your kind words. I’m thrilled you’ve enrolled into the online course. How do you like it? There are two options I see for your issue. You can either get the DiveVolk flexible arm (bit.ly/3QfobIF) which will attach to the cold shoe mount and gives you some more room to move the light around or alternatively I can recommend Nauticams cold shoe mounted ball mount (www.backscatter.com/Nauticam-Strobe-Mounting-Ball-for-Cold-Shoe). I hope this helps. 😊

@@MatthiasLebo thanks so much. I bought the Kraken cold shoe to ball mount, and unless I am doing something wrong, it does not fit well on the Divevolk and I cannot get it to stay attached. I actually have not started the course yet. I am currently landlocked in Illinois, but will do so this fall when we get back to our home in FL so I can practice what I learn

@laurambruno it’s difficult to say if your doing something wrong without seeing it. But it shouldn’t be difficult to attach those two parts to one another. Great, let me know what you think of the online course once you’ve started with it please. 😊

Hi there Matthias, hope you're fine. Can you share the user guide for it? (link for a google drive doc or similar ;) ) And, if you please, can you tell me the voltage and amperage output for the chargers? I have two of those, bought in second hand, but I am still missing these items, so i am trying to charge them with some 12V/2.1A chargers. I guess it can take a bit more charge. Thanks for any help.

Hi Matthias, Looks like a great light for what I need. Little concerned about the battery life so would want extra rechargeable batteries on hand. Their website indicates it uses “3 * 18650 battery pack.” Does that mean I could purchase 3 of any 18650 Rechargeable batteries and use them as a backup?
@gh2443
@gh2443 Год назад
I would think 3 - 18650's would not last as long as the single, larger battery. This is generally the case with most of my lights. Ironically, I scrolled down here to the comments to look for the battery model number because I want to purchase extra batteries for this light. Matthias - do you know the battery model #
@MatthiasLebo
@MatthiasLebo Год назад
Yeah, it absolutely is a great little video light. The 3 batteries are bundled together in a battery pack so I don't think you can use any 18650 batteries. I guess it has to be that exact battery setup. I'll check with Divevolk and let you know though.

@@MatthiasLebo Thanks for that updated info. Not sure I'm ready to pull the trigger just yet... with the extra battery cost, this is now very similarly priced to the backscatter macrowide 4300 which has some nice features including interchangeable batteries. Cheers!

Trotzdem gutes Video👍
@MatthiasLebo
@MatthiasLebo Год назад
@stilletiefen2230
@stilletiefen2230 Год назад
Meine Meinung. Stimme aber zu bei dem Punkt das... "jeder wie er mag und kann"

Well that’s good for you, but price and output are not the only two factors to be considered when choosing a dive light. Color temperature should be close to natural light (5600 Kelvin), the CRI (color rendering index) should be as close to 100 as possible, it should have a decent battery run time and not to forget the handling should be easy and intuitive. There are many good dives lights out on the market nowadays, but cheap and powerful doesn’t equal good.
