I've been looking for another one of them for awhile. Had mine since brand new since I was a teen. I just think all around they are one of the best Coleman single burner stoves. I have cooked thousands of meals for me and a buddy on that thing. Lots and lots of spam and taters with onion cooked on that thing.
Went to lite mine today - from 1988 - and the bad gas and bad seal shot gas on fire everywhere LOL Wasted a fire extinguisher so time to do a rebuild. Best stove when I was out in the field in the Army. Ft Greeley gets cold and this is a life saver.
A little advice. Always light them on flat level surfaces and have a bucket handy to smother them out. It's much cheaper than a fire extinguisher 🧯 Hope all goes well with you rebuild. God bless.
Thanks Terry. I somehow lost part two. I accidentally deleted it before uploading it. I was able to retrieve some segments from Google photos to make a short video but still lost some of the assembly process. God bless
Thanks Jason. I somehow lost part two but was able to retrieve some segments from Google photos. Still lost some parts but was able to make a short video. God bless
This video has been very helpful so far. Where can I purchase the specialty tools needed to work on Coleman stoves and lanterns? Thank you and thanks for posting.
@eventhejunglewantedhimdead480 Sorry for the late response. If you are looking for anything else, Old Coleman parts or eBay are both great sources of parts. God bless. www.oldcolemanparts.com/
How do you recommend isolating a leak? I got this same stove and case. But first light ran well but I noticed fuel leaking. Freaked out and shut off luckily didn't catch on fire. Can I just pressurize with air and use bubbles? I read a lot of times it's just a nut to tighten for packing. Hard stove to find parts for. Was able to locate a NOS generator which is nearly impossible to find.
Some people dunk the whole thing in a bucket of water but I prefer the spray bottle with dish wash liquid. Yes in most cases it's just a loose fitting. But sometimes to take into consideration with this model the stove will sometimes flood when lighting it for the first time and really looks like a leak. Thanks for watching and God bless.
I just bought one but it's not pumping up. Colman 508. It looked like it was leaking Feul from the on off valve. This nice old lady said it worked 2 years ago. Ugh. I need this too. Any tips on what needs replaced? Can I still get parts?
Parts are still available, but hopefully, you will not need anything other than a fuel cap gasket. First, try tightening the valve packing nut with a 7/16" wrench. Hopefully, this will stop the leak. If not, you will need to replace the graphite packing available at Old Coleman parts. If this doesn't work, feel free to contact me anytime. God bless.
You have a heck of a lot more patience than I taking that stove apart. What is in the long narrow Coleman box in the background towards the end of this video?
I have been told that I have alot of patience. The box is just an old metal pencil box that I repurposed to hold my check valve tool for the lanterns and stoves. Hey I got your package about three days ago but haven't opened it yet. Working six nights a week with overtime. Waiting until I get the time to do an unboxing video. The videos I've been posting lately are all prerecorded a few weeks back. I will get to it as soon as I can. God bless..
Do you know what to do when you get off the brass part of the fuel valve assembly but the inner plastic fuel pickup line didn't screw out with it? its on a 508A version of the stove. I can't seem to see how the hell I can get it out, and its 99% likely the problem part thats clogged up.
I had this happen with a brass pickup tube once but it fell through inside the fount while I was trying to get it out so be very careful. You don't want this to happen to you. If it falls in its not coming out. I would try a removable thread locker. Put a little on the threads that screw back into the pickup tube. Let it cure overnight and try to turn it out. Hope this helps. Keep me posted on the progress. Thanks for stopping by and God bless.
@@BluegrassBushcraft I found that I could just pull it out 😅 hard to find info on this but its in need of replacement so I ordered a new one. Thanks for your response 👌
