Finally took the time to tare down the 505 and figure where and why it was leaking and came up with a solution.
It was a quick and simple fix.

Thanks Terry. It would have probably ran like this from the start if I had slowed down and paid a little attention when putting it back together after cleaning it the first time. Thanks again my friend. I am really enjoying this little stove. God bless.

I have this issue on a recently acquired 505B. I didn't notice it the first time I fired it up for a few minutes, but this evening near dusk the problem was readily evident. A quick project for tomorrow. I did notice that the top of the fuel fount got quite warm during the 5' that I ran the stove which doesn't strike me as a good thing either. The little pop of fuel every few seconds is no doubt the culprit. I'm glad to see that it should be a quick and easy fix. Thank you.

Good explanation of and demonstration of the fix. A valuable resource for anyone needing to correct the same problem.

Thank you sir. I had already posted a previous video a while back showing the leak to other members of the group asking if anyone could help. A couple of other people had the same problem. Hopefully this video 📹 will help them also. Thanks for watching and God bless.

Thank you sir. On the forum I was told by someone that they fixed the problem by sanding the bottom of the bowl where it would sit flush but I just couldn't comprehend that. After I disassembled it and took a closer look I could see the carbon build-up and knew exactly where it was leaking and why. Then I remembered I had the same problem with a 400 peak one stove years ago with the same problem and fix. Thanks for watching and God bless.

I’m going to have to look closely at my stove. When my 442 Feather caught on fire the flame ran down the side of the tank. It looked like the fire started from that area Thanks for a detailed helpful video. It gave me something to look for and the cause.

Some of these are really cold natured, and if you don't preheat the generator enough, it will drip raw fuel down the side while it's still burning and will catch on fire. Thanks for watching, and God bless.

My 400a has quite a leak that seems to be coming from within that enclosed space. I had it all apart tonight, but could see nothing amiss. Reassembled and lit it to test and the leaking fuel caught fire. Fortunately I had just watched another video where that occurred and was prepared to smother it with a big water soaked towel, or things could have gotten scary fast. Then I found this video. Tomorrow I'll tear it down again and apply your advice, as this almost has to be the problem. Good teaching moment. Thank you and GOD bless!

Just remember pre-heat is needed on these. You can have them burning at first, but if the generator isn't hot enough, it will still flood, especially in cooler weather. It's best to have a small torch on hand to pre-heat the generator. Let me know how it turns out. Thanks for stopping, and God bless.

I will let you know. I realize they're cold-blooded, but mine will actually run fuel down from that area under the burner. Thus the fire tonight. After having had it apart, I see nothing there to do that except for where the generator enters the bottom part of the burner. I hope I can bend/reshape it enough, and those "ears" on the box that holds it up against that area, and stop that leak. I carried it in SAR work years ago, and at some point it may have been dropped and the generator tube bent. GOD bless!

Today I removed the silver "clamp" that holds the generator against the burner. It was not fitting squarely w/gaps that obviously would leak. I reshaped the entire generator, the angles at either end. Now the output end into the burner is squared up. No gaps, it meets evenly and the clamp draws it down tightly. With a soaked towel handy, I fired the stove up outside and saw no leak over 20 minutes runtime. Since my weather is warm, I experimented by not pre-warming the generator tube. I just let the flames warm it gradually, then set the lever to "run" and opened the valve to high. No leaks, although I heard a very small "chuff" sound like you described. I never knew (or had noticed) that in the case of a fall or drop bending the generator tube, that area is very likely not to seal correctly. A design that worries me, but meant to run that way. IMO a small washer/gasket of some kind there would be better & safer. A high-heat exhaust manifold gasket material cut to fit, then draw it down tight? But it's working, so I'm happy & thankful for all the videos on fixing these. GOD bless!

Well mine has this issue I think, but bending and tightening the hold of the generator in that hole didn't fix it.its tight now all the way in but still getting ignition between the 2 bowls. Issue must be between the box on the fondt and the bowls or something. Looks like my feather 400b may have been dropped by small bends on the bowl and a bent foot. I was excited after seeing your video and finding the generator wasn't being held firmly in that hole in the box. Mine must have that "not flush" issue that other guy had I read that cutting aluminum foil rings and putting them between the inside and outside burner bowl helps make a better seal between the bowls and that box the generator goes into but not sure. I'll have to investigate

Really not sure how long the aluminum foil will hold up. You might look a an autoparts store for some kind of gasket material or even a heat resistant silicone??? If it is the bowl being warped or dinged this may help 🤔 Thanks for watching and God bless.

leaking gas is never a good thing lol

It was just a very small leak and would combust as soon as the recessed area filled with gas and just make a popping noise. Thanks for watching and God bless
