Definitely not one of my best openings, actually this could be my worst!
However this is what makes this hobby so rewarding as the odds as a beginner are stacked against you with so many things that can go wrong, and without the training or experience this is the best way to learn.
So many hours, emotions and attention to detail are put in every piece this moment of truth opening that lid really does make my tummy flutter every kiln opening. The pieces that blow you away, literally make you feel like you are on cloud nine, and those failures make you realise how much there is still to learn and you push to do better next time.
The other side of pottery that I never realised at the beginning is that with some 'disasters' there can be solutions or remedies, so all is not lost.
One of my bowls failed on my last kiln opening and thanks to the suggestions on my previous RU-vid from fellow potters I followed their advice and reglazed both dishes so they would still look like a set.
After seeing the results at the end of this video from the 1st firing and then the reglaze firing I now prefer the reglaze firing....just wish I didn't have that blob of frosted lemon ! LOL
The grinding and dremeling of the two mugs tool me over an hour in total, but so relieved that they were able to be resolved, just needed to be patient and take my time.
Really appreciate any advice, tips and suggestions as this is how I learn. I'm now into my 3rd year as a part time hobby potter, with just 6 lessons and the rest taught from You tube so your constructive feedback is SO appreciated and valued.
Thanks as always for joining me on my journey for the highs and the lows,
See you again soon :)
