One of my favorite episode! Seeing the great Sensei Ford learning some new perspectives to is own style! This shows that no matter what color belt you have, you always have something to learn! Thank you for showing us that we do not know everything, Sensei Ford!

I'm a 40 year old gold belt, just started out two months ago - training under Brian Hobson. I loved watching this video and realizing that I'm definitely training under the absolute best there is!

I've trained in other martial arts, but I'm interested in this style. Especially since a Shorin-Ryu dojo opened near me. Never too late to pick up a new style, especially since I can get my kids into it with me. :-)

Sensational interview. Sensei McCammon is so interesting and passionate when he share his personal history with Shorin Ryu. Such a good man and gentleman representing martial arts.

Wow just found this and it brightens my day. I was 12 y.o. and big for my age and didn't know my own strength so my Pop enrolled me in a Shorin Ryo dojo headed by Sensei Ikeda right on Olympic Blvd three doors down from Crenshaw Blvd in Los Angeles CA. That was in 1965 and I've been so grateful to have started my martial arts life with Okinawan Karate, I owe my health at my age to that fact, blessings for this video. Amzaas

This was a great episode. My primary form of Martial Art is Shotokan Karate but I have cross-trained in many other forms of art and Martial Artists of color, are not often given there just due. I have to say I truly enjoyed this post. The face of the Martial Arts world is covered with Asians and white males. There are great teachers out there in this world both Male, Female, Black, Indian, and the like. There is more than what's is always portrayed as the only Masters around and I have had the pleasure of training with a few of them. Master Hardgrove is one of the true gems of Karate. Hanshi Hobson is another and in that line, so is your guest in this episode. Thank you for your post. Please keep up the great work. Domo and Oss.

Great episode and fantastic interview! I liked seeing the very small variances between Sensei Ford’s Nai Hanshi Shodan and the rest of the class at NRK Karate. It helps explain why so much bunkai can be derived from a single kata. Thank you Sensei Ford!

Another great episode! Loved Sensei's message at the end, that if we harness our energy anything is possible. I have always believed there is nothing that I can't do, it is just a matter of using your qi as Sensei said.

Loved the kata and doing blocks with two hands. I was scolded the other day by my Sensei for using one hand!! I was not aware it was wrong! I am a green belt who is raw, but very hungry for knowledge and hungry to get better always. Oss

I never yield in a throw technique anymore, and if they can’t throw me, then they practice harder - even modified so they can use what’s in their best interest at the moment, but I haven’t been thrown yet. Once they fail at throwing me I throw them with the same technique, and hopefully one day they get me down 👌🏽

Great episode, this one flew under my radar somehow. One question, what is that belt the Sensei is wearing?
@SenseiFord

I believe that the red and white belt is with by practitioners who are 7th, 8th, or 9th dan.
