I can't believe I missed this video! Thanks for all of the advice and taking the time to answer all of these questions. I am using your non-sandwich method on my 1.5" wide tape-ins (I stick 3 tape-ins together for extra thickness and then use the Walker tape on the outside). I recently had a spa day and everyone was saying how smart and creative I was for thinking of this method of installation, LOL! I directed them to your RU-vid for all of the info on this technique.

One thing that I do, because I have oily hair, I will only wash the top part of my natural hair in the sink and I do not put conditioner on my roots. Just the ends. It covers the wefts, feels clean, best part!-you're not compromising the extensions! :)

There is a youtube video for "protac tape in extensions" that's a product designed to do the fold over tip from Meredith. She stacks the wefts on half the tape to connect two to three strips of one ply weft onto one piece of tape. With Walker tape you wouldn't need liquid gold to adhere inside like she uses, but the video shows another option for making thicker wefts with less tape.

I'm a hair dresser and I provide tape in extensions.....your tips are great the only thing I would add for everyone with tape ins is if they are having problems with them coming out within the first few shampoos using a sulfate free shampoo will stop that....sulfate free is really the only way to go with tape ins and when u condition focus more on the ends and ur extension life will be twice as long!!!

I just love ur videos! I would like to tell u to use caution with the "sandwich" method. For 2 reasons. 1 - it pulls like crazy. There is only a tiny thin line of hair between the "sandwich" and EVERYTHING pulls; sleeping, styling; putting it up & even the weight of it wet in the shower. 2 - it may break ur hair off. It did mine! There isnt a lot of natural hair holding in ur wefts the weigh plucks the hairs from your scalp. I switched to "non-sandwich" and love it! Thanks so much!! :)

Yay - thank u for the feedback! And - I do not think it is loosing extra hair - just the normal hair we shed everyday comes out when you take them out..

christi- thanks so much for your videos! i have a BIG CAUTION warning for all the girls trying tape-ins: DO NOT FLAT IRON THE WALKER TAPE WHILE IN YOUR HAIR, (particularly if using a "sandwich" method!-- the adhesive tape WILL melt into your hair and you will NOT be able to get it out! no sovent could dissolve it! my actual hair tracks came off the tape witinin couple of days, but the tape stayed!-i had to cut them out, losta lot of my hair in the process and now i have bald spots! no joke! :((

Can I just thank you? I was just looking up new ways to style clip ins because I was tired of mine when I came across this. I was hesitant at first, but you seemed so passionate about it so I decided to give it a go and I'm glad I did. I've only had them in for about 3 weeks now and I've had no issues (*knocks on wood*) and I love them. It feels so natural I forget they're in there. The only hard thing for me so far was installing them. It was very hard for me to make straight parts so I had to get my sister to make them for me. lol Love you!

Yeah - maybe you are right about that. I have very dry hair. Maybe a really strong clarifying treatment for her first with no conditioner may help...

When I accidentally ordered too wide tape, I actually just cut my bigger tape in half before applying it to each side. Makes your scissors sort of sticky but at least it made it cost effective :-) I miss my tapeins since I decided summer was being too harsh on my wefts. I'm looking forward to putting them back in this fall!

oh and i ordered 1/2" x 3 yards (two rolls) walker no shine! i have to dye my extensions before in pink, and after i will put the tape, i hope it will hold on! i looooove watch your videos, you are so patient and you answer all questions you talk about all possible issues!! all the others videos (not of you) i watched about tape in's are just poorly made, i recommend yours a billion times if i have to! i am french and there is no french video about that so maybe i will do one, and mention yours!

I'm using the Walker tape on the outside of each 1.5" piece. BUT I AM GOING TO BE PUTTING IN WEFTS JUST LIKE YOU DO AFTER I GET MY COLOR DONE. I will be following all of these tips and am excited to have the convenience of just a few wefts instead of 25 separate little pieces!!

Yes - it's VERY easy to pull off old tape, wash your wefts and dry them. There will be some stickiness after and that helps the new tape adhere even better... :)

Hi. Had to share that I have tried the foldover method using 3/4 inch walker tape. I also cut the weft into more manageable pieces ( prob 1.5 - 2 inch sizes) as not keen on the strips (have to tie hair back for work so feel it ties back more smoothly) however can see the strip lengths are speedier to do. I've had them in now for a couple of days and they feel so flat and feel theres hardly anything there. Love this method. Thank you Christy for sharing xx

Yes - try the 1/4" still - you may be ok. Just be EXTRA gentle during first week with them :)

Hi! I will soon - hopefully! When I (occasionally) have hand tied available for sale - that is all in one weft...but hopefully I will carry machine wefted extensions too (no clips). Thx for the update and please keep me posted on your experience with tape ins! :)

Yes - bc of the No Shine tape. If you try my new Miss Flirty Seamless wefts - they are made with DuoPro and this tape does not itch - it's great! I only use DuoPro now. It will not hold on machine wefts though - only seamless... You can find more on Missflirtyhair.com

K, I've taped in my hair, just waiting a few days to send you a pic so it's sturdy enuf for me to style it. It looks kind of unblended right now cuz I'm trying to not do anything with it, but I think it will be great once I can straighten or curl it next week. The quality of my ebay hair definitely does not look as good as your Miss Flirty extensions, but I wanted to practice with my bargain hair. I love how flat it is and how I can wear it higher up and closer to my face than clip ins!

i LOVED my tape ins...i was a little freaked out when i took them out. it seemed like i lost a lot...i will say that yes the residue DOES come out...do not worry about it. please find a way to not lose so much hair....lol. i agree with the sandwich method. you can not see it your way.

for those who want a to do the sandwich method you also can do only the top part of the tape hair both sides and the under piece not so you have sandwich without the stickynis on the under piece but only on the upper piece , so you have just the stikckyness just on the upper piece and not on the under piece, also this way it would not be sticky on your scalp but just on the upper piece while the hair sticks on the hair at the upper piece so you cant see the rows, this way you will benefit of the sandwich method but also the un-sandwich method, i hope i explaind it good :P xoxo loves

Sounds to me like that would put allot of stress on the hair that it's being taped to. It would have to bear the weight of the extension and would break the hair. When you tape it closer to the scalp it's more supported

I do an all-over color and I do have my dark roots colored every other month with my tape-ins installed. But I am only coloring the hair above the tape. My stylist does extensions, so she is good at not getting the color/bleach on the tape.

I took the extension course in cosmetology school and my teacher actually recommended flat ironing a few seconds in the hair. It seals the adhessive and makes it last a little longer.

Thank you for all the information, I'd like to share with you an issue that I encountered with sandwiched in tape ins. I had them in about four weeks, when it was time to remove them I used C22 remover. The problem with that is that when the two tapes are glued together with hair in between the liquid has a problem seaping through the two tapes making it almost impossible to separate the tapes also you can't grab the outer sides of the tape because the glue is broken down and it's too sticky.

me and my sister both used the same tape in extentions and hers fell off the first wash, which was 3 days after the insert..and what i figured out was that she has oily hair, so hers didnt stay while i have normal to dry hair/scalp and mine didnt come off so that might a problem.

They don't pull at all - as long as you do it the "UN-sandwich way", like I do. I think if you want to be extra safe - don't wear it up while you sleep for first week - maybe a side braid or low pigtail braids would be best...

Sandwiching is soooo much better! Not sandwiching your hair leaves the sticky tape exposed and creates a mess probably why some of these girls wefts are falling out and feeling the stickiness when they touch their hair. Not sandwiching your hair is just asking for them to fall out and asking for problems.

Ur videos are the best! So informative for girls with thin hair!! All other videos just talk about the sandwich method and don't ever address fine/thin hair with tape ins - thank you for making video, I want to buy ur tape ins but I have ombre hair, do you sell ombre tape ins? Are your tape ins lose hair or are they sewn and then the tape is applied?

I put the extension down and lay hair over it and then flat iron for a second just to heat glue up and fuse it with my hair better if you dont want to sandwich it. Extra security.

i'm pretty sure you can do any kind of hair style :) Except braiding can be a bit of a challenge.

If you sandwich your hair like you are supposed to do, these wouldn't be problems. The tape won't be exposed at all creating stickiness in your hair, falling out due to the adhesive melting, etc. Look up other tape extension videos and do it right.

Do you do anything special to protect the hair at night from tangling or damage or to protect it the first week from pulling while you sleep? Will it be safe or should I lightly braid it or use a nightcap a la Night Before Christmas? Ready to install my extensions next week! Going to a water park on Saturday so I have to wait until then.

I posted this question on one of your other videos..I think maybe I should have posted it here instead...I had stated how I just now started using tape in hair extensions...The ease of putting them in is great..but I am very concerned about when I wash and condition my hair..If oil removes them so easily then wont my conditioner have the same effect when I am in the shower?

Hey, it's me with my pesky question of the day! Yippee! You probably mention this in some video but it just occurred to me I may need a special shampoo for colored hair now that I've taped in hair that's been colored! I always just use some 98cent brand cuz I like the scent! So, I ordered the organix coconut serum, but what shampoo do you recommend? Thanks?

Hi Lisa - thank you for sharing! I have no experience with sandwiching - yet. Only the UN-sandwich technique...but for anyone doing it the way you do - I'm sure this helps...thanks! Did you find a solution to remove them that works better than C-22? I LOVE Weft Release. It has some alcohol in it - so it won't be as slippery...

Im so bummed I only just watched this video because I ordered the 1/4" tape and my extensions are machine double wefted I'm pretty sure :( I live in Australia so I don't want to wait another 3 weeks for the 1/2" to arrive, is it worth me trying to use the 1/4" or should I start sewing my clips back on & wait for the 1/2" to arrive?

How do you put in your extentions without being able to tell you have them in?. i put mine in one piece on bottom tape up thin hair over then place other piece against it. but its uncomfortable. so how do u make it look natural full witithout seeing my real hair ocer take because it looks like only my back is done and i look like i have a mullet. please help me put these in correctly so they look more natural

I have extremely thin hair, and not a lot of it, mine is a bit longer than yours.. Question.. How do you get the top piece in without it showing through? That's the problem I am having with clip-ins. I think I am going to cut my clips off and use the walker tape. And also, I have seen where some girls are using the gold glue to make them, is that better or is the walker tape strong enough to do the job?
