Dr Glenn McConell chats with Dr Paul Cohen from Translational Research Institute for Metabolism and Diabetes, AdventHealth Orlando, Florida, USA. He has a very strong track record of research examining muscle mitochondria in health and disease and in particular the effects of exercise in attenuating the reductions in mitochondrial function with age. A very interesting chat. Twitter: @CoenPM

Exercise helps use up ATP, keeps ECT flowing, and uses energy. Helps increase mitochondria. However, aging decreases the availability of key compounds that keep ECT in balance. Critical compounds such as PQQ, CoQ10, and D-Ribose are most prevalent. Diet balance is critical, finally aging the most prevalent factor.

Also look into melatonin. Melatonin aids the building of mitochondria.

Exercise when one ages is as much qualitative as quantitative. One just feels better if one exercises.

how does oxygenation factor into this? It's reduction and associated mechanisms, and reverse. How dl they effect the mitochondria

Perhaps already referenced. Was there a correlation between the perceived fatigue measure and the objective measure
