I found a .36 cal . for sale at auction . I bided $500.01 & was promptly out bid ! I have eight days to figure out what I want to bid on it again. Thid old T/C Hawkins Seneca STILL looks new ish ! What do You think one of them that looks like the gun I described would be worth at auction ( 14 bids last time I looked ) ?
Great shooting as usual, I’ve got a .54 new-Englander that I like but it shoots good sometimes and sometimes not I’ll have to try your trick of cleaning every shot, I got my traditions 50 cal buck stalker with that false muzzle to shoot holes touching at 100 yards with a 300gr bullet, and 67gr by weight 777, I know you don’t like synthetics it’s just what this one prefers but I clean it every shot and it shoots great but I do appreciate your suggestion a while ago about cleaning every shot and I’ll get the new-englander back out and try again just clean every shot thanks again
Nice shooting man! I have a TC New Englander in .54 and using a 525gr projectile with 70gr of powder w/ .58 wad, they touch at 90yds. TC rifles will certainly shoot if folks are willing to tinker and get it right. I’m gonna look into those peep & globe sights you got on your smoke poles. Bet my groups could be even tighter! Fantastic shooting. Think I may have to get one of those front sights for a Hawken I recently acquired with a Green River barrel on it. I just put the 57 peep on and coincidentally used your online tip about shimming it with a washer. Thanks Lewis.
I would AVOID one that has the QLA Muzzle, I have had bad luck with those ones. Find one that doesn’t have the QLA and you will have an AWESOME Muzzleloader 👍 The Old TC Renegade was the “Work Horse” Rifle, The Hawken was the Fancier, nicer looking Rifle, They Both shoot equally Well 👍
I really wanted a 54cal TC Renagade, but the stars didn't align on the TC. So I ended up buying a mint condition 54cal CVA Gamester Hawken Supreme, which seems to be similar to the Renagade. I'm waiting for the CVA in the mail. Do you know anything about the Gamester Hawken Supreme? I couldn't find hardly any information on this model, except a few guys saying they are really accurate. If you have any information on this model, I would really appreciate it.
My only regret is I didn't try this when I had the eye sight to do it. My first muzzleloader ever I got when I was 12 some 48years ago. It was a TC Hawkin in .50 call. Fell in love with black powder when I was 10 shooting a friend of my dads double barrel 12 gauge. I never looked back. My interest was in forta if you will was 1 n 60-66 round ball shooter. Shooting minute of axe splitting ball out to 250 yards with traditional fixed sights competitions this would have been my realm of interest. I shot competitively in archery 3d and benchrest center fire as well as my main stay of the mountain man. As told by my moniqure of mine picture a peace pipe and pipe bag made by me indicates. @johnhoward7298 well you are correct, it would be amazing. I have miss typed . Not usually for me. Split round ball yes, at 10- 20 yards. However 250 yards was usually some sort of steel plate. Of various sizes. Now days I barely see the sights Mountain man
Do you always use 80gr of powder or do you adjust it to get the accuracy? I have a T/C Cherokee 45 and have tried about every load I can think of and yet to get hunting accuracy to 50 yards. I have two 45 caliber barrels, one is well worn and other is like new
