Based on the true story that shocked a nation in the summer of 1988 and revealed the scandalizing amount of errors committed by the media and the police in a half-baked attempt to rescue hostages.
I just watched the documentary from Netflix and I couldn't believe what was I watching. The total incompetence from the police and the absolute lack of ethics from some journalists were astonishing.
They could have easily shoot the three kidnappers from a safe distance. They didn't seem smart enough since they even didn't cover their faces. I've never seen criminals in the media hanging out with journalists that way. I guess the police department was on holidays or something like that. A complete shame how the circus went on for more than two days. Rest in peace the victims.
09.09.2020 Alles Gute liebe Silke zum 51 Geburtstag. Du bist nicht vergessen. ✌ Happy birthday dear Silke for 51 years. You're not forgotten. Rest in peace ✌
I remember this all too well. We were watching this live on TV in disbelief, as if it was a reality show. The police was completely defective, the media beyond any moral and responsible behaviour. I was only a year younger than Silke. The cold blooded murder of 14 year old Emilio, who was only protecting his 9 year old sister from the criminals, made my blood boil . We had a row of child murder cases in the same decade here in Switzerland. Some of them have never been resolved, no bodies ever to be found, due to incompetente police. Degoswki, who shot Emilio, was released from prison just a few years ago. Inge, close friend of Silke and second hostage, was left alone by the state traumatized and suffering from severe depression for more than ten years. While the criminals got treatments and all the attention from the state. Degoswki even lives with a new identity, most certainly being fed by the German taxpayer. But this isn‘t only the case in Germany, we have the same s… going on here in my country.
The german police didn't get any better. And the law neither. Our law isn't deterrent at all. It's rather motivating to commit crimes. Could work out though
Watched this Documentary on Netflix . Completely shock on what GSG-9 were doing ( may be all went for a country ride or busy preparing Farewell Party to GSG-9 founder chief Ulrich Wagner as he got retired in 1988 ( month before the incident took place ).
What do you mean? The GSG 9 was already in place to go into action. But somehow the police in charge was never informed. It was the SEK going into action and failed miserably. The GSG 9 would have succeded.
GSG9 was called by the State Police of Rhineland-Palpinate to take over. But the car never crossed the border because the NRW-Cowboys thought they had to end that on their own soil.
Our law is a joke!! You are right. A former soccer player recently got found guilty for obsessing child porns (297) and he got away with only a 10 month probation.
Stop spreading false information. Only Degowski was released in 2019, Rösner is still in prison and he will most likely remain there for the rest of his life.
