540 Mopar breaks 800HP

All aluminum Mopar 540ci made 818Hp, and 794ft lbs on the dyno yesterday at JanCen Motorsports. Indy Block, victor heads, super victor intake, holley dominator, flat tappet cam, 12.5: 1 compression street motor for my stepdads superbee, he built this motor in our garage, will be using 2 1/4" headers, but the dyno headers are only 2" primaries because the others wont fit on the dyno.

very impressive numbers , love seeing home built stuff that flies .......i have done many big blocks and seen how well they respond to good heads .......... also , i installed a big ray barton pump gas hemi for a customer that was a flat tappet cam , .577" lift before lash , it was amazingly mild . that had the mopar performance heads , done by barton , kb water block , used top fuel crank , was 556" , cant recall stroke ? and made 741 tq at 5100 , 794 hp at 6100 with single dominator . it had a street lenco 4 speed and a serious clutch after we smoked a street clutch with sticky tires . it only had 3.54 gears and 30" et street tires , and went 10.00's at 133 mph with 4" exhaust . the car weighed 3300 lb with driver . i was easy on it since it was not mine . we switched to 4.10 gears ( because the 3.54 was too tall , he planned on a 500 hp nitrous kit but never used it ) and it went 9.90 at 135 , shifting at only 5500 rpms . i had my box stock 7320 dominator on , but barton tested it with a trick carb so i'm betting it was down some hp with mine ? the thing was so mello you would think it was a 340 street motor until you nailed it . barton told him it was good for 30,000 street miles before a freshening !

I took my 69 ROAD RUNNER to a best of 10:69 @124..(in 1984)..and looking at the numbers.....the 4:88s would of been to deep and launching at 6000 rpm, would of back FLIPPED it but with all things you work your way up, fantasy time for me... MAN I miss those 6000rpm launches...14x32s 488 x 6000 never got a 60 time......the thing was nuts on a PRO TREE.....

Mopar 540s rock! This is one of my favorite combos, especially with a flat tappet cam. Best bang for buck setup of this type with this kind of N/A power. Is this a low deck block?

wheelspin1000 ...the 543 strokers are built with the RB 440 block (10.725 deck height)...the 400 low deck block usually go around 511c.i. max...go to Muscle Motors website or 440 Source.com and they list all the stroker kits...if u have a 383 low-deck B block (9.98" deck height), u can make a 496 stroker from it, that's close to 500 cubes

You're correct for the most part when using stock blocks. However, as stated in the description, this is an Indy Aluminum block. Therefore, this could be a low deck motor with a 4.5 bore x 4.25 stroke, which = 540 CID. Like I stated previously, this is one of my all time favorite Mopar combos. They rev like a chainsaw and pull like a train.

The motor is perfect, very reliable and consistent. the car is going up for sale in about a month. on to a new project.

@@ghostridah73 So it is on pump gas? i wanna know cuz i'm doing very similar build and want as high compression on pump gas as possible, was planning around 11 but if 12.5 is possible ill do that lol
