Bless your beautiful Heart. I am on Day 9 on my sober curious journey, after averaging 6 or 7 beers a day. I feel my brain is clearer than ever before. Your insights have re enforced my desire to keep doing what I am doing. Thank you so much!

I would love to be 9 days sober. What changes are you noticing?

One of the biggest misconceptions about sobriety, is that after five or ten years, it will plateau. Not true, particularly if the person is actively engaged in recovery. I'll spare you my story, but suffice to say that in my 30th year of continuous recovery, it keeps getting better! All the best to you Krista!

Relate to sooo much of what you say in this episode, especially the part about feeling like you're in a 'soup' and getting overwhelmed by all the emotions when in a drinking environment. I've been drinking minimally for a while but I'm thinking about cutting it out completely - just doesn't serve any purpose in my life and have never really enjoyed it!

I don’t really drink at all anymore because I feel really bad for about two days even if I have only one glass of wine or one drink. But a weird thing happened the other night. I went out to dinner with a friend and had a non-alcoholic drink made with alcohol- free spirits. Then later I had a few drags of a cigar but threw away the rest of it. I only stayed out until ten. But the next two days I felt like I was hungover as if I had actually drank. I mean I felt like hell- severely fatigued and bad anxiety & depressed feeling. I can’t figure out what caused it - maybe the alcohol free spirits still had a minor amount of alcohol in it? I’ve gotten extremely sensitive to things as I get older. Perhaps it’s just the energy of being in a bar and being around drunk people that I picked up on and the negative spiritual effects that alcohol holds that effected me? I really can’t figure it out.

OK, these are some good reminders, there’s no question that increasing your mental clarity and boosting your drive, comes with quitting. Yes, there are many ways to kick the habit, Steffon Barkload's Quit Drinking Forever is what worked for me, best shortcut I go’ogled that took days without withdrawal.
