I’m at 6 weeks sober today. I will not go back. No decisions need to be made anymore! Just not doing it. It feels like chains are lifted!

After "countless vain attempts" to "stop drinking", and zero success, I had a moment where I looked into the abyss and finally got honest with myself...Rigorously honest! That was the moment I began to recover. My focus completely shifted away from "not drinking", to how I was moving my feet! From the movie the "Shawshank Redemption"..."Get busy living, or get busy dying". That is the essence of recovery, and you're right Veronica about developing different habits, routines, and practices. Any elite athlete, or elite musician, or professional in whatever field, will tell you that they had to practice, and keep practicing. That is why after more than 29 yrs of continuous sobriety, I am more involved in recovery than ever. I don't want my skills to deteriorate, because the penalty for me is death. To end on a very positive note, my life today is so far beyond not drinking, that I have trouble processing it sometimes. I live in abundance by any definition of the word! Happy, joyous, and...FREE!

You are brilliant. You state a fact that is so intense it needs to be posted on the sides of all alcohol bottles. I used to say I drank to alter my brain to deal with reality. And I actually thought that was okay. Since March 14, 2023 I decided to alter my reality, remove stressful things and deal with what I was running from so I wouldn't need alcohol. I no longer "outsource my problems to alcohol". Thank you!

Thank you for your content. I need to quit drinking forever. I go for 6-7 days then I start drinking again ( about 3 days) then I sober up again. I’m disappointed in myself and I want to live sober

That is exactly what I do but often get stuck on the rollercoaster ride from hell often for 5 or 6 days. I know I am running on willpower and it has a short shelf life. I'm working on loosing the Desire. I believe we can overcome this.

@@jujumulligan43 I started on the Sinclair Method about 4 months ago. It is starting to work now as I am not obsessed about my next drink and find myself forgetting to drink on some days. I heard it takes about 6 months before you reach pharmacological extinction where the brain returns to its pre-addictive state. It has been the best thing for me. Read the book The Cure for Alcoholism if you’re interested. Good luck to you 🌺

Pressure ON HUMANITY.... too drink ourselves to death is VERY HIGH! OUR entire life.... Profits are made on, Messages to drink, to feel happy, accepted by others and Loved is LIES, LIES AND MORE LIES. Remember,.... We are ALL, DIVINE super natural miracles, walking around AS a robot. GRAB your heart & soul and own yourself! CONGRATULATIONS 🎊 🎶 🎵

Agreed completely on the element of fixing the element that make you feel bad about your life …unless you identify and work on those element you are going to go back to use alcohol to forget about it

Absolutely love your comment about consistency over intensity. That has been my mantra, decluttering our home, however, it is so appropriate to stop alcohol consumption. I quit drinking for three months, January February and March then started up again until today, October 7, 2023; I'm tired of feeling lousy.

Stay full with healthy food, a sugar dip in your system will start you thinking about alcohol (it is glucose), weakening your sobriety resolution.

I'm currently reading Atomic Habits, and was thinking, wow, the idea of looking at the system rather than the outcome is so much like Clear's book! I think one thing that is shifting (3rd day sober) for me is that before, I couldn't trust myself. It was like I saw myself as this little weasel that would screw everything up if I even saw a drink. I worked to really gear myself up for dry January and I'm feeling so much more at peace and like I can stick with it, like I am not as likely to trip myself up! And I think a part of that is my focus on spirituality this time around. Love this video!

WOW! Thinking about stifling my emotions for 55 years is mind boggling - I didn’t start drinking until I was in my 30’s! Lately the enemy keeps telling me that I’m too old to ever beat the addiction but I’m still trying. Thank you for sharing your wisdom it’s reaching me on another level. I’ll keep listening ❤

I don't feel the 'more freedom" yet... I feel like I am drowning in a verbally/mentally abusive relationship and have no way out except an escape in alcohol now and then. 5 kids, 2nd marriage...how do we even begin to separate. I have failed, once again. 😢 And I was the stellar athlete, student, daughter, ..until my first divorce. 😪

In my perspective it's not a question of failure or success, it's a question of more harm and less harm for you and your loved ones. Alcohol makes you get stuck in a loop of self-hatred and escapism and prevents real change! Learn to love instead of harming yourself through alcohol, you are worthy!!!!!!!!!! Get help, talk to someone outside!!!You can do it!!!!!

@@anntastic1532 Great!!!!!! Wish you the best!!!! I survived a devastating divorce (with 2 kids, now adults) and a life-threatening brain tumour, lost my ability to speak through the inevitable brain surgery, regained slowly but steadily a good quality of live! I've been in some dark places myself, hence my compassion. A good life is possible!!!! Without alcohol! With love and self-respect! Grasp it!!!!!

So many programs out there that promise you'll quit drinking from one day to the next and feel great for the rest of your life. Listen, Steffon Barkload's Quit Drinking Forever takes a lighter, safer approach which you decide to go with at your own pace. Best shortcut I go’ogled that only took days to rewire my brain to continually experience mental peace.
