This #R107, #560SL Video: Installing The Timing Chain, Guides and Sprockets
UPDATE: I forgot to mention that I already had the crankshaft at TDC before I started. Always check the description to see any updates on the video you are watching.
In this video I finally install the timing chain cover, the timing chain, the oil pump chain, the lower guides and guide pins as well as all gears and sprockets. I set the initial timing of the M117 and close things up. This video is relevant to all #M116, #M117 Mercedes-Benz 8 cylinder gas, 3.8L, 4.2L, 5.0L, 5.6L engines.
Subscribe if you would like to support this project. You may need my help one day and I will be here for you.
I am documenting every part of this vehicle as I put it back together. The idea is to end up with the best documented 560SL rebuilds on the Internet.
Links to the manual and links to all tools used in this video are below.
I want everyone who visits my channel to know about a friend of mine named Tasos. His videos inspire me to be more like him. He is so much better than I am. You can find his RU-vid channel at:

My videos are not sponsored by anyone. The products and tools I use are products and tools I have purchased with my own money. I include links below to any special tools or products used in this video.
I used Amsoil Signature Series 5W-50 Synthetic Motor Oil to lubricate the timing chain and the oil pump chain (see Cera Tec next):
www.amsoil.com/p/signature-se...
I used a mixture of Liqui Moly (20002) Cera Tec Friction Modifier and the Amsoil 5W-50 to help with the first start:

You will need lots of assembly grease. I purchased a large can of Driven Engine Assembly Grease:

For setting the torque of the front cover I used the GEARWRENCH 3/8" Flex Head Electronic Torque Wrench with Angle:

The sealant I used was the Toyota sealant 0029500103. It was easy to use and I believe it will work nicely for this project:

That's all the special tools and products I used in this video.
