american key supply actually sells the single test keys. haven't seen them anywhere else

The crazy thing about these "emergency" keys is many of them will not unlock the door if the car battery is dead. We unlock 2-3 day like that.

Interesting? Did not know that. Thanks for heads up.

@@geraldskinner63 It's mostly Asian cars but some Ford trucks, Euro's and others but we mostly see it on Asian cars. I don't understand the point of an emergency mechanical blade if it won't unlock the door if the battery is dead. We make money off them so I hope they never fix it but still odd to me. I even try to get people going over the phone so they don't have to pay me and always ask if they tried the emergency key. Many used cars also don't have the blade cut, it won't even enter the door lock or it's cut but for whatever reason doesn't turn in the lock. Honda's have bad wafers in the doors and Ignitions too. There isn't much we haven't seen due to the volume of calls we run.
@geraldskinner63
@geraldskinner63 Год назад
@@scotts4125 I hear ya. yes most used car lots don't bother with emergency keys as they don't care and just want car to start and they don't want to pay extra for us (Locksmiths) to decode or buy key code etc. I cut them anyway, just for the Lishi prax if anything. Also karma..If my kid had bought that used car, I would expect that in the prox key.

@@geraldskinner63 We price it both ways. Honestly 90% of the people with Push To Start don't want to pay extra they just want the FOB and buttons to work. We don't Lishi. I wish my guys would but they don't want to. We pay for codes through NASTF or a couple of the call in services. We tell the customers if they can get us a key code we will come back as a courtesy and cut the blade no charge. We only do auto's nothing else and run between 100-150 calls per week.

I have yet to see a Toyota or Lexus that wouldn’t unlock with a key or Lishi even with a dead battery. That’s interesting

That M5 jaw would be very handy! I am fortunate to have two dolphins that each have their own cutters which makes life easy as well. (I typically do the Honda HO01 keys on the 2.5mm)

@mrdman094081 Год назад
Are the keys acurate with 2.5 ? I started using 1.5 because of acuracy. (and I think it looks better)
@geraldskinner63
@geraldskinner63 Год назад
@@mrdman094081 Yes, in fact that's why I switched to the 2.5. This seems to be the case with the older Accords and Civics...at least for what I have ran into. I agree that 1.5 looks cleaner for sure.
@mrdman094081
@mrdman094081 Год назад
@@geraldskinner63 Ok. I'll bet the 2.5 cut bit lasts longer too. It seems that for internal cuts like Audi and Lexus 2.5 would be too big and would "bump into" the opposite side. You use it for everything and dont have to switch for some keys ?

Thanks for your video I got the m5 clamp but when I’m deciding the customer key the probe cannot detect the tip of the key as if it needs the shim and this m5 didn’t come with it Then I got the key code and when I put the new key to cut it cannot detect the tip of the key comes up as error 2 probe not detected Toy40 one side emergency blade
@BoredLockpicker
@BoredLockpicker 6 месяцев назад
Very weird if you selected one sided it should work
@1mikesmiley
@1mikesmiley 9 месяцев назад
Did this today. Tried cutting by code and the probe went right up the key groove. The machine said it couldn't find the key. This is why the shim is used. But I cut by bitting and it worked without the shim.
@BoredLockpicker
@BoredLockpicker 9 месяцев назад
Because if you cut by code it selects the double sided key but the single sided key is to thin. You have to select the toy40 single sided
@1mikesmiley

This is the best comment ^^^ right here. Did this again today on a 2011 Toyota Sienna Smart Key. Pulled the code, put it in the Xhorse ap which took the code and gave me the cuts. Then I went to cut by bitting and specified the single sided key blade as I learned here. Put in the cuts, M5 clamp no shim, worked perfectly. Thanks again!!
@BoredLockpicker
@BoredLockpicker 8 месяцев назад
@@1mikesmiley yep. You’d think xhorse would have the app ask if it’s single or double sided when you enter a code but it doesn’t

Will this work if I used a toy48 and cut both sides... 16 ES350 Lex

I’m not sure I understand your question. Do you mean using a double sided key on a single sided? Lock. That will not work.

Yes. I wasn't aware and the key is thicker that I used as well...I have the correct blade coming now...thanks
