Having watched content from the big RU-vidrs such as half ass customs, puddin’s fab shop etc, your video is just as interesting and entertaining! Well done and keep up the good work. Also, from experience, if you need to use your office chair a lot, get yourself a set of rubber wheels with bearings (with the wheels from inline skates). They make moving around so much easier and quieter!
do yourself a favor before you put the bed on,change out the fuel pump in the gas tank. withe mileage you have on the tahoe, its about to die i would pay money, that it is.!!!!
For a first video i think you did an excellent job. You shared a lot of information with us on just what needs to be done and thank you for doing that. Best of luck to you on your channel.
Looks kickass sir ,well done I had a 58 Apache back in high school had a 6.6 turbo trans am motor an tranny with disc brake rear3:73s I miss that badass truck I took a curve too fast around 85mph flipped it 7r9times idk lucky I wasn't killed me an a buddy a drunk man in van stopped a was amazed we were alive got a chain flipped it back on wheels an it cranked right up an I drove it home , my dad beat my ass , I picked up more wemen in that truck in school Damit ,ol Chevy never die, they JUST haulass ,haul sum ass
Lots of memories. My first Chevy was a 63. I still remember the day I crawled into the cab pull the choke, and it fired. I was excited to hear the engine run, the old straight, six. I broke a horse for a guy in trade for the truck. I was 15 and I loved every minute of that experience.
I have a Tahoe I bought for a donor. I want to put an 88 k5 on it. I want to use floor and firewall on the Tahoe and make the blazer a dependable cruiser for my daughter
Love this build, best of both worlds. Old iron with modern convenience and power. I'm hooked on your channel already. Also skipping through the mundane tasks makes for a better video to me. You do that, and I like that. Good job on your 57 swap.
Nice build. I'm thinking of doing the same build, only 2WD. Already have the Tahoe. Now I'm looking for a nice 55 body. Is the kit listed on ez's website? I didn't see it.
We’ll done! Looks great! I just just subscribed to your channel. Thanks for the video. I hope you make more. For rust perfection I use Duplicolor truck bed coating . You can apply it with a brush or a gun . Dirt and mud doesn’t stick to it like undercoating. It also has a nice finish to it. Looking forward to your next video. Thanks, Wyo Les
Really, really cool truck. Hopefully you don't change the stance too much, maybe up just a little. I think it would look good with old Goodyear sure grips or something like that and stock looking wheels and hubcaps.
This is amazing! My daughter is an Orthotics patient of yours and my wife came home telling me about this! We are the Satterfields. Ill catch up on the other videos soon and i look forward to more! One thing that might help with the tire clearance in the back is using springs from a “Z71” tahoe if the Tahoe you used wasn’t a Z71. They are 2” taller than the normal tahoes. But this will obviously make it sit a little taller in the back. You would probably want a leveling/small lift kit in the front to get it to sit level again if it lifts it too much in the back if you tried it this way!
My favorite projects are the old body on the newer model sub frame power train! Pls never say you're sorry for an injury. Wobble all ya like brother it's the work not the webble. Your good in my book!
That would be pretty awesome. I think it probably is. I would probably contact Ed from easy chassis swap. I think I have a link in the description. If not, I’ll try to get it for you. See if he has a kit that would work on the Silverado frame to except the cab mounts of the 57. www.e-zchassisswaps.com/#page-top
Great Project and Video! The detailed explanations on your work is outstanding. I’m sure your channel will grow!! EZ should have donated your kit for all the detailed installation video.
Very good work, the chassis swap work, the video work and the editing. Looks like a pretty good kit, and you are really going to enjoy the modern amenities with the new chassis and engine once you get it all hooked up. Keep up the great work and God bless.
Really liked the video, for the rear end they do make axle offset plates. You can slightly move the axle. Should be able to close up the bed gap a bit.
New sub, great project, restomodding the old 57, I love it! That chassis and running gear is in great condition. The fact that you are planning on doing all the work. and, keeping it as budget friendly as possible, has my attention. All my best.
Thank you for coming along for the ride. Hope we can make it interesting and enjoyable as well as informative. This is our first RU-vid video ever and we’re having fun with it and I am a little more motivated to do my truck because I got a bunch of guys watching me do it and encouraging me along so it’s pretty awesome.
Ok so the short and the long… I’m taking a 58 4dr belair I’m chopping the back doors and roof making a belaircamino out of it and I’m looking to jack it up on 33’s what frame would you suggest my friend. This is gonna be a one of one romper stomper classic custom mudding nightmare.
Doing the lords work. I tried to get the folks at ez chassis swap to make a channel showing full tutorials on all their options. I have a 56 that I've been procrastinating on over this issue.
I really like where you are going with this and thank you for sharing the details of the EZ mounts and the variations you had to make. Question for ya, Will you be able to keep this truck titled as a 57 or will you have to use a new VIN, since the frame is not matching? I have a newer truck with a good frame and running gear but the body is rusted out junk. I was thinking of doing something like this but wasn't sure how I would have to "register" it???
depends on your state here in ohio and alot of other states the vin is all that matters i recomend contacting your local state highway patrol and bmv for the exact laws in your state
Yes, I feel very blessed. I’ve had the truck for a long time and had no place to work until just lately. We just finish that shop together with my boys.
I just got off the phone with Mitch from Swap time and he is going to build me a harness. It’s gonna cost me about 600 bucks for the electronic control computer that will control the transfer case in the front differential hubs. If you want his number let me know.
I haven’t got it figured out yet. It’s an electronic shift mechanism on those old Tahoe’s so I need to figure out how to run the control module without the computer. I’m working with a guy called Swap time on RU-vid trying to get me a harness belt.
That looks great! Funny thing is I have access to an 02' Tahoe and I was looking at a 5 window with an 8' bed ( I believe it is a 52'). I just went over to EZ's site and see they use a S-10 for the earlier style pickups, BUT they do have an 8' version. This type of swap is what I too would like to do before I die also. I have CHF and am 64. I found an Avion slide in camper that looks like an Alaskan Camper (aerodynamic aluminum) and is the reason for needing an 8' bed. Was trying for the "old school" early camper setup with modern drivetrain efficiency. Just sub'd and will be checking back.
@@russellmcconahay7297 Russell it is "congestive heart failure". It has been coming on for some time, so subtle I didn't realize it was happening. But it has sort of "stabilized", still dying from it, but not as quickly they say as I was. So other than the things I need to get done, there are a couple I'd like to get done. I am about the watch the Part 2 of your build.
I just inherited a 1953 Ford F100 that is sitting on a Oldmobile Cutlass frame. It has been sitting 30+ years and I am wanting to swap it to a 2001 Tahoe 4x4 Chassis. It currently has a oldsmobile 350 engine that is blown. What are your thoughts?
This looks like a lot of fun. I've considered this on a few vehicles. Just to many projects and only one old man. I'll check out e-z chassisswaps and mebey be motivated. Great job on the video. Thank you. Sure is a honey of a truck.
Awesome video thanks for taking the time to show all the little details in the process, I will be doing the same type of swap but with a 59 Apache with a a 2001 chevy 2500 4x4 chassis, thanks again.
I have a 57 truck that I plan on doing the same swap as you. How are you planning on keeping the 4x4? Are you keeping the factory push buttons or converting it to manual 4x4?
@@russellmcconahay7297 awesome thanks for the reply. Now I can’t decide if I should get a 4x4 donor truck or an AWD. I spoke to EZ Chassis Swap yesterday about ordering the mount kit
I have an 04 Tahoe. Not a fan of the 5.3... there are so many better GM motors i would be doing some research. I had a 99 suburban with the 5.7 in it and got very comparable mileage
@@russellmcconahay7297 yeah, I broke my neck 20 years ago but regained quite a bit of movement below the injury level, I use a manual chair to get around but I can stand but no control of balance muscles, my hands don't work great but I figure out methods for using different tools
I am started this swap with my 66 and am just starting to take stuff off the tahoe, was interested to see how that went, but then BAM the body was off the tahoe 😂. Looks like it will be a great build!
@@russellmcconahay7297 I currently have the entire front end off, just about ready to undo body mounts, but i dont have a lift so still trying to see how i am going to do it, may have to take off all doors and hatch and cut into smaller pieces. Ill have a video up on my other channel once i get to the editing
Such a cool build. I saw 57 a few days ago at the grocery store. I had to take a few pics. It was a 2wd tastefully lowered with rally wheels. I had to tear myself away from it and get into my 2001 chevy 🤣👍
I am using the E-Z chassis swap kit specific for this year of Tahoe and of 57 Chevy truck. E-Z Chassis Swaps This is his website. He’s a great guy to work with. e-zchassisswaps.com/
