For a first video i think you did an excellent job. You shared a lot of information with us on just what needs to be done and thank you for doing that. Best of luck to you on your channel.
Paint. I like it the way it sits. It has character and you don't have to worry that it will get scratched. I am sure that I am the only one with this opinion. Thank you for sharing.
Ok so the short and the long… I’m taking a 58 4dr belair I’m chopping the back doors and roof making a belaircamino out of it and I’m looking to jack it up on 33’s what frame would you suggest my friend. This is gonna be a one of one romper stomper classic custom mudding nightmare.
1) awesome swap/build. I love these swaps. 2) PSI - I pass their building EVERYDAY. I NEVER knew what was inside. Brick NJ! Cool to see their product in your build, and them literally down the block from me.
I have a 57 truck that I plan on doing the same swap as you. How are you planning on keeping the 4x4? Are you keeping the factory push buttons or converting it to manual 4x4?
@@russellmcconahay7297 awesome thanks for the reply. Now I can’t decide if I should get a 4x4 donor truck or an AWD. I spoke to EZ Chassis Swap yesterday about ordering the mount kit
@@russellmcconahay7297 yes, the Chevy Viking is the 2 ton version of the Apache, the cab is the same, fenders are wider with bigger openings. I would need Apache fenders and a bed.
Awesome video thanks for taking the time to show all the little details in the process, I will be doing the same type of swap but with a 59 Apache with a a 2001 chevy 2500 4x4 chassis, thanks again.
I just found your channel yesterday. What a great project your 57 is. It's so cool that you could give that extra to a good buddy who's family is excited to make a family project out of. Keep up the videos. Thanks for all you and your family has done to share this. :)
Very informational build and easy to follow. Keep them coming too! Question could you possibly add links to the companies that you use , along with part numbers? For us that isn't computer savvy! Thank You very much.
Yes I will. Can you send me another comment so that it pops up in my reminders and I will pull it out of the box and take a look at it or you doing the same thing?
@@russellmcconahay7297 happy to do so. By "pull it out of the box", are you saying you didn't use it? I am building a '58 panel truck on an '01 Tahoe chassis
They make a pedal kit that goes on the dash of the 57 and excepts that new booster. I have seen some people use the old booster but it’s all good plumbed and wired for the ABS and stuff.
Love your videos. I’m currently using a EZ Chassis kit on my 64 C-10. I’m currently working on brakes, just wanted to touch base and see if you’d had any issues pairing this booster with the Tahoe brakes? Does the ABS still work? Thanks!
I removed the ABS part it was not going to work. At least I didn’t figure out how to make it work so I’m going with just a proportioning valve front rear and I’m using a new brake booster. If you wanna call me, let me know and I’ll teach you my number.
This looks like a lot of fun. I've considered this on a few vehicles. Just to many projects and only one old man. I'll check out e-z chassisswaps and mebey be motivated. Great job on the video. Thank you. Sure is a honey of a truck.
In the next video, I’ll show you the rest of the stuff I’ve done to it. I got it cleaned up pretty good and running nicely few more mechanical things, and then I’m gonna go to some of the worst of the body work without ruining the patina.
That truck is awesome! 1954 & early 55 had that grill. The other main differences from earlier Advance Design trucks was the one piece windshield and flat bed rails. 1954 was also the first for the 235 in trucks. Yours has a 216. Judging by the butchered rad support, it might have had an engine swap. Probably a V8, which would require a different bellhousing and engine mounts. Cheap custom rads weren't available decades ago. If the only swap was to the 216, maybe they butchered the support to make getting the engine out easier. These engines are heavy and who knows what they had for tools. I have a 1949 with a 250 and a 54 3/4 ton dually tow truck w/235.
