People are mostly occupied with their own traumas and cant see how this affect their children.
Children learn with imitation. Especially in their early development they take their parents and the adults around them as role models. This is a good thing if the child is in a healthy environment. But some children are not that fortunate.
The parents might be abusive, they might not be tending the basic need of the child. Or they might be addicts. The children in the house will directly get affected from this environment. Even if they don't show signs immediately it will come up in their adulthood.
The other aspect of the trauma issue is when the child is traumatized. When a young child is a victim of abuse it is very hard for them to grasp the notion of abuse. Like sexual abuse is not in the vocabulary of a child. So talking or expressing the feelings or thoughts is not easy. But there are signs that you can look for if your child is acting different. Like role playing or games can help the children to express themselves.
Trauma healing is a long and delicate process. As a parent you have to deal with your own trauma while not harming the people around you and then attend to the needs of your loved ones. Like on a plane you have to put the mask on yourself first. Just keep in mind that the effect of your trauma might be more than you think on your child.
