Lyle, Your passion for amps is exceeded only by your generosity in sharing information. I've been here from the beginning, and your delivery is always getting better. I'd like to have you work on my '64 Concert if it can be arranged. Thanks, Benny.

He’s one of the good ones. I’ve had my problems with an amp tech in the North Detroit burbs that was unhinged over my Sovtek MiG-50.

Beautiful work as always. It is certainly not blasphemy to improve the flaws in the original design while still being in the spirit of the original circuit. Sixty years is a long time to learn and improve on things. You wouldn't rebuild an historic home and insulate it with asbestos just because that was the original design. Making it another circuit altogether would be criminal. Improving and fine tuning the original is a great service. Leo was a tinkerer - he'd be right there with you!

This particular amp servicing has proven to be such an education for me. I love all the historical context you give in regards to the original design and your modifications. I’m currently working in restoring a Silvertone 1484 and after watching this video I’m seriously giving some thought into converting the bias circuit into an adjustable one.

Outstanding. This is why your channel was at 10k subscribers at the beginning of the week and is almost 11k only 3 days later. Such amazing attention to detail and fun to watch. Thanks Lyle!

I’d love to hear your recommendations for which amps are the best brand new builds/value according to category: 15 watt, 30-40 watt, stage monster, “pedal platform”. I enjoy these videos and appreciate the implicit criticism of design and production, and I realise its not the purpose of the channel to review amps. But that does leave a viewer wondering what to buy as well as what to avoid!

Great series and very informative. I don’t recall in the previous videos, did you mention at todays wall voltage, what is the B+, plate voltage and at what % did you bias the 6V6’s? Thanks!

Great video's ! thanks for the detailed info. One question, not necessarily pertaining to this video, seems like tubes are often the problem with many amps you service, you swap them out quickly and often locate the problem. Question is about "Biasing" the replacement tube, is it as important as the online forum's make it out to be or are you "biasing" and not detailing it in your video's. Thanks !

I've never heard of input grid stopper resistor failure causing DC on the input/guitar pots. What is the origin of that DC voltage? Thanks! Great video.

I'm not sure. I didn't measure any DC on the board/eyelets but it was present on the jacks with the old resistors and went away with the new.

@@PsionicAudio Interesting! Thanks. Maybe stray voltage lurking on the chassis or some such. Maybe even generated in the capacitance of the guitar input cord. I find those anomalous, sometimes intermittent small issues are often very difficult to trace and resolve. Trace and resolve major issue: 25 minutes; trace and resolve stray scratchy intermittent noise....: 2.5 hours :)

What are the characteristics that make a Vibrolux different from other Fender amps? I just picked up a 68 Custom Vibrolux Reverb and just wanting to know more about the heritage of Vibrolux amps.

Similar in very many ways to a 5E3, but with only one input channel (with three different jacks). The resulting extra 12AX7 triode is used to add bias vary tremolo. Additionally, it's fixed bias instead of cathode bias, and it has a 10" speaker. I think those are the major differences!
